  1. That was the score. FRA dominated with defense. They played as hard and passionate as they have all season. They can beat anybody if they play like they did tonight.
  2. Just a late follow up on the Ezell-FRA game. FRA played their usual game, bad shooting, sporadic defense, untimely turnovers, and a severe lack of urgency or intensity. I thought they were dangerous this year, but they are very limited offensively and can be downright atrocious on defense. Ezell played well and deserved to win. Hard to predict who will win between DCA and FRA. They play the same style, and both can be pretty good or awfully bad depending on how they shoot. I still think FRA can cause problems in the tournament, but I'm less convinced of that as I used to be. If FRA wins, I think they have a better shot of making waves in the tourney as DCA is well coached, but not very talented.
  3. FRA jumped out big, something like 22-4. McEwen cut it to 9 or so at the half. They moved Pucket inside to start the 3rd Quarter, and he hit a couple of shots to cut the lead to 5 or so, I think. Then, FRA made a defensive switch and that helped. Puckett had 18, but nobody else did much. FRA had 4 guys in double figures. FRA was in control the whole game. I was disappointed in McEwen. However, Puckett is clearly a good player.
  4. I believe it was 44-37 FRA.
  5. Somewhat unlike you to be so prickly. All the NCS bashing must be taking its toll.
  6. Big 48, I would have thought you would take the side of a fellow regional member in this matter. My only point was that perhaps Temple would not fair as well given the competition in this region.
  7. I don't remember tugging your chain, and I didn't say anything about FRA being better than CPA.
  8. That's the dumbest post I've ever seen. In other words, your opinion as to the talent levels of each school is a better indicator than head-to-head competition on consecutive nights. In addition, FRA has played CPA close twice (and I think Temple has been drilled CPA both times). FRA has not held the ball against CPA, except at the end of quarters when many teams hold for the last shot. Obviously, you were not at the game Friday night when CPA held the ball for most of the last quarter. I don't criticize them for that, it was good basketball - protecting a lead. If your post has any validity, then Temple's coach is either an idiot or had no aspirationsof winning. Otherwise, he would have "pulled it out." By the way, "more talent and better players" is redundant.
  9. I agree it is going to be interesting, and CPA is clearly playing very well. However, CPA has won some close games against both Goodpasture and FRA. Obviously, they did what they needed to win those games, but it can always go the other way. My point is that the 9-A District tourney will be a dogfight. CPA is #1 without a doubt, but it wouldn't shock me for any of four teams to win the tournament. I do find it interesting that FRA plays CPA to the wire on Friday night and CPA blasts Temple on Staurday night. That has to make you question how good Temple is and how they would fare playing in a District like 9/10 A.
  10. Didn't CW just get dusted by single A team FRA?
  11. I'm not into bashing "good" kids, and I'm sure that most of the ones we are talking about are good kids. However, you clearly recognize some problems with Daniel. Otherwise, you wouldn't be trying to excuse it by referencing his height or hearing loss, or whatever else might "explain" why he acts extremely childish at times. My problem is that we should be teaching kids respect. Making excuses for their behavior does not further that goal. I haven't focused on daniel, as any Nashville Christian fan who posts on here can attest (i.e. Anderson). I respect his ability and applaud his effort and desire. However, calling a spade a spade is not "junk talk." He intentionally pushed an FRA player as he was walking off the court last night after fouling out. He cries (not literally, of course) on every call or no-call. As sports fans, we houl at the breakdown of morals and leadership when we see these attributes in pro athletes. We bemoan the failure of these athletes to be "role models." Why on earth is it different when it is a high school kid? Daniel is a great talent, and he has a great future. I don't personally like the way he acts on the basketball court, but I don't question whether he is a good kid. In addition, my criticism has very little to do with getting on a high school sports related website and throwing mud on kids. Rather, it is a genuine concern for and dislike of how kids are allowed to acts on the basketball court and the fact that people (even some adults) so quickly rise to their defense with excuses. That is not how I was raised, not do I suspect most of the adults who use this site were allowed to act in such a manner. Just my opinion.
  12. I think you can be a good player with attitude without being a punk. Daniel probably had 10-12 fouls tonight. Obviously, several were not called. Then, when he finally fouls out, he bumps an FRA player on his way out. Real tough guy.
  13. 52-44. GP hit a couple of shots to make it closer late. Daniel had 11 and is a huge punk on the court. I like basketball, and I know kids will be kids, but he is a punk. Fouled out and should have been gone much earlier. Foley had 19, I think. Eagle, you know how I feel about Anderson. Daniel is worse.
  14. Everybody who had already crowned Goodpasture as the team to beat in 9A(including Gomab ho has picked them to win the state) might want to slow down. FRA took them down tonight. FRA, who has had their current team together for 9 games is not somebody you want to play with the season on the line.
  15. Yeah, of all the very good single a teams in Middle Tennessee, Moore County is definitely the pick. Taking them over NCS, CPA, DCA, and FRA, among others, makes a ton of sense. Moore County's claim to fame is that they beat an overrated Forrest team.
  16. The single a poll is a joke. It shows you how little the people that vote actually know.

    NCS v. FRA

By the way, how bad were the officials for this game. A big game between two good teams and you have those three morons out there. Unbelievable.

    NCS v. FRA

The little guard is not an offensive threat, but he can handle the ball. FRA has plenty of offensive weapons, they needed a point guard who can get the ball up the court.
  19. Probably a combination of Forrest being a bit overrated and FRA actually being a good team. The long layoff hurt FRA against NCS. The intensity was not there.

    NCS v. FRA

Not even close. I'm far beyond high school years. Just a basketball fan with ties to FRA.
  21. FRA won by 17 today. The game was moved to the afternoon because of the Titans. Good win for FRA.

    NCS v. FRA

Fridge is not better than FRA's other point guards. Take my word for it. FRA beat Forrest by 17 today. They moved the game from tonight because of the Titans game. I'll say this about NCS, they play hard. They are a total perimeter team, and I think that will hurt them at time this season, but they have several guys who can shoot lights out. They hurt FRA on the boards due to shear hustle. FRA has one player under 6'1 and there was no reason for NCS to hurt them on the boards. They did it with hustle and deterination. They deserved to win, and they did. Good comeback by FRA. I've said all along that Forrest is overrated, but it was a good win for FRA today. I wouldnt want to play NCS with titles on the line. They can fill it up from anywhere. I hope FRA and NCS meet again.

    NCS v. FRA

Either team could win and it would not surprise me. FRA is solid 8 deep, but they can have scoring droughts that kill them and (as exhibited by the first match-up) they get awfuly tentative with a lead. I would pick FRA also, but the long layoff is an X-factor.

    NCS v. FRA

FRA hasn't played in forever. The McEwen tourney got cancelled, so they lost 2 games there. Being off that long can't help, but I would still expect this to be a game. FRA has a good team. In fact, I think they are one of the most overlooked teams in single a. I am surprised NCS has done so well without Anderson. I did not expect that. I suspect a couple of guys are getting more shots than they did when Anderson was playing, and they have essentially picked up the pace. I also know, however, that NCS would not have won the first meeting without Anderson. He torched FRA in the 4th quarter and overtime. Its a tough call, no way to anticipate what the lay-off will do to FRA and NCS is clearly playing well.
