  1. This really is a problem and I totally agree about suiting up for a football. THIS IS NOT SOUR GRAPES on my part because Harpeth won its last two games at Lexington, but the atrocious calls against us were blatant; the local girls could do no wrong and the "out-of-towners" could not do anything right...except when they called the occasional foul in our favor so that it wouldn't be COMPLETELY obvious.

In the Harpeth-Chester Co. game, Bianca walked obviously 4 times with 3 refs looking at her and nothing was called. She had very few fouls called against her but LOTS of her points were from the free throw line. Harpeth had to do nothing but breathe in her direction and the whistle was blowing.

I witnessed the McNairy-South Side game and #25 for McNairy totally had her way under the basket ---charging and bulldozing and was never called.

Something has got to be done, but according to former refs and coaches on similar threads I've read recently, all the good refs are at the college level and the irate fans in the stands are to blame.

I saw the game as well, and I saw quite a bit of feet shuffling nearly every trip down court from BOTH teams. Everything is not going to be called the way we as fans see it. Congrats to Harpeth, by the way. The officiating did not affect the outcome of that game.

  2. Because the only reason she won it last year is because Brandi Brown was hurt for like 15 games....

Didn't Thomas and Brown play on the same AAU team? Did anyone see them both in action on the same court? I know Thomas was a starter and one of the top scorers - as I remember seeing posted on the AAU website this past summer.

Brown is a good player, but Brown being hurt is NOT why Bianca Thomas won Miss Basketball. Both are good and either would be worthy.

  3. Bianca Thomas -Chester County, hands-down is one of the best in the south, not just West TN. her stats speak for themselves (had to do a little checking):

    27 points/game....67% field goal....46% 3-pt field goal....77% free throw....9 rebounds/game....4 assists/game....4-5 steals/game....2 blocked shots/game

Since mid-January is averaging 31 ppg.

She has scored over 700 points this year! Has scored over 2,700 in her career. It's not all "glitz", she gets battered and beaten every game and has earned every one. Gets many points the dirty way - offensive rebounds. Went from post/shooting guard last year to point guard this year. Makes plays that causes the OTHER team's crowd to go crazy!

  4. Coach T, Bianca Thomas in AA is the best all around player again, this year! She bring the ball up the floor, handles the press, and scores at will. She has to be AA Miss Basketball again this year.

Plus...... her up-and-under, one-handed lay-ups; fade-away, going out of bounds three pointers, half-court 3's, and behind-the-back passes keep you coming back for more!! Not to mention the reaction she gets when she throws a shot into the 4th row! She's a point guard, shooting guard, a power forward, and a center rolled into one. She is "THE ULTIMATE" clutch player. :thumb:

  5. Your are making our point for us Guns. If your players are that out of control they deserve to pay the price. The players should play the game, not the coach. If one teams players are more in tune with the game and what their coach wants they shogain from it. This all started when the Michigan player got a T for calling a time out they did not have. Today when kids screw up, instead of working harder to teach them, we do it for them. Next thing you know they can't make their own decisions.

Timeouts are about game management. Players are there to play and coaches are on the sidelines to manage. Coaches can give players the option of calling timeouts, but it is the coach's responsiblity to maintain the best interest for his/her team and put them in the best position to win. Coaches don't shoot, dribble, pass, nor play defense for the players; which produce much bigger decisions to be made during a basketball game than calling a timeout. Coaches have the right to decide who to play, what defense to run, what offense to run; why not a timeout to make adjustments or "help" his/her team whenever possible? Is that not what they (meaning coaches AND timeouts) are there for?

  6. brandi brown should be a lock in the AA category. can't comment on the other classifications that much because other than the guard from cumberland county haven't seen anyone in A or AAA that stands out. the eighth grader from rbs will be one to watch over the next few yrs. though.

I don't know about "A Lock" for Brown in AA. Reigning Ms. Basketball, Bianca Thomas, is having another outstanding year with increased duties on the floor. She also is nearing 2500 points for her career and has signed with Ole Miss. Thomas may be your "Lock"!
  7. "Let It Go" is a wonderful idea. Go back and reread my post. I was very complimentary of Miss Thomas. She is the 2005 Class AA Miss Basketball, which speaks for itself. As a word of caution: be careful when it comes to your facts. Greenfieldfan spoke the truth. Miss Thomas is a great player who happened to be frustrated on a particular night. It is no big deal. LET IT GO!

    great idea

  8. Greenfieldfan is telling the truth - Thomas did refuse to shake Price's hand. Thomas is a competitor and she was frustrated. She was held 11 points below her season average against an opponent that is only 5 foot six inches tall and 120 pounds. I believe Thomas to be a wonderful person and it is no big deal. I believe that she was upset with herself because she is a competitor and hates to lose.

I was not going to comment but I cannot allow someone to question the character of Greenfieldfan.

    LET IT GO!!

  9. Actually, she had 3 teammates in double figures, not that it matters. Trice was impressive. She had 3 big threes in the first half.

You're correct (4 in double figures including Thomas). CC has been patiently waiting for Trice to come out of her freshman shell. Chester also has others that are playing with newly found confidence.

Chester scored 35 points in the 4th quarter against Crockett and the Cook girl for Crockett scored all 17 of Crockett's 4th quarter points! Both feats pretty impressive.

  10. Accusations against Bianca Thomas are nothing but a bold-face lie. Have never heard her speak ill of any team or player in the state, always complimentary and respectful, and is the FIRST to admit when she or her team gets out played. People are so willing to find fault in anyone with exceptional talent. If you are watching hand-shakes after a game, go get some popcorn!

Also, Thomas is NOT unselfish and I have yet to see her play a game where she has been "shut down". She gets her shots, however, she does have "off nights" on occasion. She is averaging 26 ppg and according to Jackson Sun, has the highest shooting percentage on her team. Tell me why she SHOULDN'T be shooting the ball?? <_<

Mustang, get a clue...a dictionary and a lesson in punctuation...before you post again. I would LOVE for my child to play with Bianca - would rather play with her than against her. Enjoy watching her while we've got her! Quit dogging her and any other Eaglette or find another team to follow...we can do without your $4 if you are going to speak badly of Chester.

Greenfield fan, you just need to be happy your team is finally doing something. Stop spreading rumors about things you obviously know nothing about and enjoy your season. If I were Bianca Thomas I would laugh all the way to a free education and opportunity to play in the SEC, at your thoughts and observations.

Since this topic IS about McNairy/Chester I would like to praise McNairy for the game they played last week. They came ready to play and Chester didn't. Very talented team, and will be incredible next year for sure. Wish you all the luck until you play Chester again :thumb:

  11. Bianca Thomas - plays point guard, shooting guard, power forward and center, breaks the press off the dribble - runs the offense - passes off and posts up. On defense, she guards the point, the wing, or the post, wherever she is needed the most. Plays the front, middle, or back on the press. Pretty versatile.

  12. That's two sources so it must be right. Wow, that's a surprise.

Been away from the computer for a while but it was a frustrating game. South Side played well and did what they had to do to win. Chester had some big time breakdowns on defense and some key turnovers with the lead late in the game. Credit to South Side on a hard fought victory! Chester rebounded last night with an impressive win over a young and talented Liberty squad. Chester had some players step it up last night and maybe they will start playing to their potential.

  13. Birdie, its obvious that you are all Chester Co. All of your posts in any forum have you pro-chester. Are you sure that you can back up all this talk? Yea, a gold ball does give you a leg-up on most west tn teams but this is a new year. Most teams, not just chester, get better as they play more. We'll talk again after mid-january. Good win tonight against obion, but I don't consider obion a tough team at this point.

Is it THAT obvious he likes Chester Co???? I think he was trying to be coy.

What talk? Why can't we take up for Chester? Oh yeah, by the way, NOBODY Chester beats is considered a tough team...didn't you already know that?? :thumb: However, thank you for your assessment, that really changes how we look at things.

  14. I guess you would say it is a pattern because they have been doing it every game for the past two years and it has never been called on them.

You can argue all you want, but if they bring it to regional tourney in Lexington, it will be called, especially now that it's been brought to attention. I've seen it called plenty.

  15. I've seen the jump ball thing they are talking about at several games and I have never seen the ref ever call it. I can't believe that some are whining about a jump ball, I mean they won by 15 what else do they want? I think Harpeth had a great game and really came out to ready to play, but I think that there is a lot more game still to be played in this season so don't get too over confident.

Just a warning. If this is a pattern for this team, a good coach will call it to the referees attention before the jump ball.

  16. Haha :thumb: Newcheeseburger? Thats cute...

My name has been butchered in the past but this one is the lamest by far. It's Neuenschwander and I'm proud of my last name. As for the tip-off, I learned it from a former coach and it's useful for an undersized post like myself (maybe your daughter should learn my technique) it has a fairly high success rate. Sycamore had a chance, we just couldn't match the incredible shooting of the Lady Indians. Thats ok though, next time we'll be better prepared. But congrats on the win.

If you are the jumper and crossing the center line (jumping into the other jumper), that is illegal. A good referee that knows the rules will call that.

  17. think chester county will blow away union city chester county got a denfense team that is raw they shook up scott hill last nite witch was sat. nite they run scott hill they scott hill crow could not say anything but hang there head score 80 something to 30 something :lol:

I think what you are trying to say is that Chester's defense is INDEED getting better and better with each game. And that Chester's offense is ALSO getting better and better. Noticed a sophomore and a freshman had 5, 3's between them. A sign that the confidence factor is starting to rise. It is good to see others stepping up and giving Thomas a break. She didn't have to play at all in the 4th quarter and limited time in the 3rd (still nursing a severe kidney infection she had during the Gibson game)

Now, Chester doesn't play Union City, but I think you are talking about Obion. I wouldn't get that cocky yet. Yes, Chester is improving, but Obion has a good squad and CC will have to play well. Give CC another 3-4 weeks and the Eaglette train will be full steam and chugging!

  18. It's called having a great gameplan against a team you shouldn't beat. It was a great strategy that barely failed and it also put West TN in the national spotlight (articles on espn.com, si.com, etc.)

If I recall correctly (and I usually do), a few weeks before that game (end of regular season), Chester BARELY beat McNairy on a last second shot, WITHOUT stalling the ball and without one of your better players. Why did McNairy feel the regional game was unwinnable? It put them in the spotlight alright, and started debates around the country about whether high school ball should go to a shot clock, in order to avoid those types of game plans. Watching the other Mc-CC games, I was perplexed that McNairy felt this was their only chance to win. Not much faith in your team.

Anyway, Coach Lott is a good coach or he would not have survived 30 something years in the business, and at the same school. You should feel fortunate to have such a dedicated coach. And he should feel fortunate to have such loyal fans.
