I haven't read the entire thread so bare with me if this is a repeat. The officials are not held accountable for anything. There is no rating system. Only the regional "bosses" have any control over them. In Alabama I believe the coaches are given a rating card for each official and asked to mail it in after the game. Many "inept" officials do not last in that system. Having been an official for several years I would have liked to have input from the coaches on my performance. I'm sure I would have gotten bad ratings from some coaches, but when one coach complains about everyone who do you think the problem is? Additiionally, if one official gets bad ratings from all parts of the region from single to triple A then you probably have a problem with the official. He needs more training or a superior to keep an eye on him. To date the worst official I have ever seen is the son of one of the regional bosses. You think they are going to do anything to him? If the TSSAA wants more authority over things try concentrating on what you have control of now........

You are witnessing the slow dismantlement of the Tennessee High School basketball "machine". There are many reasons for both views on this. I personally think they play too many games. But with the changes in AAU participation and now this it looks they are trying to "rein in" the sport. Many schools refuse to play extra games. Some schools may play as many as 37 - 39 if they make it to the finals. As our federal tax system does to us, success is punished.

Having sat next to the Coach Burkey from his beginning here @ SCHS it struck me odd how many officials had a dislike of him from the beginning. He was treated like garbage. Having been a TSSAA official in this region @ one time official/coach conduct is taught, but I'm sad to say many have "chips" on their shoulders and feel the game is their's to control, not administrate..... /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blink:" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

Well I don't know why everyone is so suprised. Shelbyville played them closer than any other team in the state, and @ Cleveland on top of that. IMNSHO they were the best 2 from their side of the bracket. Only time will tell, but I think that if Cleveland plays as it is capable then they are in the finals and have a tremendous shot at the GOLD BALL. I know one thing for certain Cleveland has replaced Brandley Central as the Region 3 Big Girl on Campus. Good luck girls. P.S. Riley, MK says hi!

Good game played by both. The inside was Shelbyville's for the first 3 quarters. Then Riverdale collapsed on the post. Shelbyville had not had to shot from the outside the entire game. In the fourth they couldn't even draw iron, you add crucial turnovers and a couple of calls that could have went either way and Riverdale comes away the victor. BTW they deserved it! Congrats Lady Warriors 4 Srs and a Jr. Your maturity and AML were able to pull this game out. Now on to the sectional. The reason they finished HS @ SCHS was to win a Gold Ball. Something those others places haven't accompished yet. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> As far as Fuller and UT, she had a choice of WHEREVER she wanted to go. AML is a player no doubt. But don't look for her to score another 45. She was not nearly as effective in their first meeting. I think the game at Riverdale was much like the game last night against Lincoln Co. When you start the game and don't miss a shoot for a quarter chances are you are going to win the only question is by how much. If Lanning is stopped or even stiffled Riverdale will have problems. One thing is for sure the drumming the Eaglettes took two weeks ago is still on their minds. The determining factor in who wins the game is how they (SCHS) react to that. Classic Region 4AAA that's for sure.

I see your still on the stuff BBWiz. We will see. SCHS actually has the best group of freshman in years. Yes they lost to Tullahoma & Franklin County freshman. But believe me that will not remain the case. This is the first year these girls have ever played together. My prediction is that SCHS will be stronger in 2 years than they are now. Only time will tell.
