  1. With most of the top single A teams being upset before the state tournament, there were a lot of surprise teams with a LOT of losses in it...including Unaka with 13 losses. Is that a record? They deserve all the glory now since they played their best when the top teams didn't. And those 13 losses don't mean a thing...ask Gordonsville with their 2 losses and no gold ball. Look at Pickett Co. beating Unaka 80-57 and not making it out of the region...plus Gordonsville winning 27 in a row and then losing in their district and region. I think either would have cruised through this year's state tournament against this weaker field. Next year's top teams need to take a look at this and be ready for the tournaments!
  2. Starting 5? They never have a starting 5...that's one big problem. They never play any 5 long enough to develop team work. It would be great to see an actual starting 5.
  3. If the officials allow Rich to walk all the time, and reach over all the time, like they did in the district & region, it'll be Clay Co. If the game is officiated by the rules...Perry Co.
  4. Coachhard is 100% right...York plays too many players, so of course they never get into any rhythm, they play out of control...are loaded with talent and never play up to their potential. These players deserve better.
  5. 1-before the game, show the officials the rulebook about walks....Rich walks every time she has the ball and nothing is ever called. 2-show the officials the rulebook about reaching over...celina gets away with it all the time 3-remind the officials that neither team is from 8A so they don't have to call it one sided like they have throughout both the boys' and girls' tournaments so far. 4-play like you did tonight! Good luck Lady Buffaloes!
  6. The "Jon Lovitz" look alike ref has no business officiating...he's consistantly the worst each year since he's been here. In the RBS/Pickett Co. game two Bobcats crashed into each other going for a rebound...no one else was within 10 feet. The official blew the whistle and called a foul. The crowd began to laugh until he didn't correct his obvious mistake. RBS went to the foul line!!!! (Fortunately it didn't change the outcome) They even talked about it on the radio according to friends who listened to the game on the radio, saying it had to be a first ever call! The Celina/Pickett game was another poor performance by the refs...very inconsistant. In the Celina/Clarkrange girls' game the other two refs kept looking at "Lovitz" with puzzled looks on their faces with his calls...which he made every two seconds. Time for Melton to retire and let someone else get more qualified officials (which there are some now...just not enough). Too often you'll see refs joking with one coach, ignoring the other and don't seem to be aware of how their calls are going one way.
  7. They were right...Trousdale did win over Gordonsville by 2 tonight...so Clay Co. meets Gordonsville if both get to the 2nd round. Pickett vs Trousdale if they get to the 2nd round. Maybe RBS/Clay Co. if RBS knocks off Gordonsville.
  8. Who is in charge of disipline? How did they play differently tonight to beat LA? (a team with less talent than York)
  9. creampull schedule comes home to roost...now they're 27-4 (they may forget their other two losses but a gym full of people saw them)
  10. What is wrong with York? Play the best 5 players and leave them in...don't play 15 players a game...no team will jell when they never get a chance to play as a TEAM of 5. It doesn't matter if you have 10 great players, it is teamwork resulting from 5 playing together which makes teams great. Use subs when necessary, not every 30 seconds for no reason. Have plays...against Upperman they looked like a playground pick up game! And Upperman isn't a great team like their teams of the late 90's. Certainly they aren't 32-8 at the half better! Maybe a 6'7" player needs to be under the basket for rebounds! With so many great 3 point shooters, let them shoot...if they miss, a 6'7" player should get the rebound. Mix it up with some cuts to the basket. Pretty simple. With all that talent they have so many weapons. Early in the year they looked great! York fans are loyal...they just want to see what's best for the team and are not seeing it.
  11. In what has to be the state's dumbest tradition, the Clarkrange fans threw about 100 rolls of toilet paper on the floor when they scored their first points against RBS. This resulted in a technical and 2 points for RBS. The game went into overtime...thanks to the two free points Clarkrange handed RBS. Obviously the school knew they would do this since they do it the last game of every year and they did it to start the girls' game tonight. This changed the playoffs in District 7A. Now Clarkrange plays Monterey instead of Hermitage Springs. Will TSSAA ignore this? What if a player had slipped on the toilet paper and was injured? Why cost your own team 2-5 points?
  12. 3 reasons Happy Valley won't win it... #1-Jackson Co. #2-Livingston Academy #3-Upperman
  13. Yes, Coach Winningham is a great guy FBT14, but here it is near the end of the season and something as basic as a starting 5 hasn't happened yet. Rarely are the 5 best players in for more than 3 minutes. Play Tipton, Stevens, Choate, Ledbetter and Duncan for three quarters, get a 20 point lead, then sub. In those three quarters if someone gets into foul trouble, then sub. Or, if someone is just playing badly, then sub. But give the starters a chance to get into a flow! Don't sub every 60 seconds and don't yank someone who's playing great. Nothing is wrong with York that basic basketball logic wouldn't fix. York fans just want to see this talented team play somewhere near its potential.

    York

Why doesn't York pick a starting 5, let them play, let them get used to playing together, and only sub when a starter isn't playing well? Why not develope the rest of the players when there's a 20 point lead in the 4th quarter? Every game York plays everyone, always loses big leads and if a player is hitting, they go to the bench! Why isn't Ledbetter under the basket for rebounds? They almost gave another one away to single A Oneida tonight!
  15. Pickett Co. 16-4 with a VERY tough schedule. 3 three point losses, all away, and one to BA. Chattanooga Christian Red Boiling Springs
