  1. Hillsboro doesn't throw the ball because, most of the time, it doesnt have to. Why put the ball in the air? Ints can happen, sacks can happen, WRs can get laid out. Why do it? Running the ball can be far more effective. It wears down a defense. It demoralizes a defense. There is not a worse feeling in the world than by getting slapped around for a 5-7 yard gain every play. The D-unit starts to wonder if it can EVER stop the team thats in front of it. And who cares about Hillsboro LAST year. There is a big difference between last year's Hillsboro team and this years Hillsboro team, someone take a wild guess of what that is. Something you'll notice about the teams that were listed that had a really heavy running game, 2 of them have state rings this year. Is a heavy running game really that bad?
  2. MoWest fans were goading Fisher from the moment he stepped onto the field. If anyone showed a lack oof class, it was the MoWest fans. Ands can you really blame Hillsboro for over-celebrating a state champinship after haveing to sit back and watch the other team accept the gold for the past two years? The theme in the Burros locker room was that, like it or not, this was the last time a good number of them would ever put on thier pads, buckle thier helmet, and play the best game ever created with thier peers. I imagine that it is difficult to be "classy" when feeling the emotions that they had to be feeling.
  3. Melrose Should definately be on the top 10 list. Melrose gave Hillsboro the biggest fight they hed all year (including MoWest). This season's Melrose team could easily be put a couple slots ahead of MoWest or Maryville.
  4. No. Hillwood is NOT a good team. They are decent at best, but not nearly good enough to prepare teams for the deeper rounds of the play-offs. Antioch was a good team. Stratford was a good team. And don't count out the Hillsboro coaching staff, they don't throw because they would rather run. They CAN and WILL be able to if they want to. The backfield has been hurt by Bryant's (should have gotten a Mr. Football nomination, bulldozes teams for good yardage even with 8 or 9 in the box) injury, but it is still very potent. Jamie Boyd (number 2 fullback) is a good quality back and can put up good yardage. Tibbs, McCants, and Justin Merritt can all put up some yards when called, too. Hillsboro might be without Fridge, but MoWest still has a full plate when it comes to stopping the run. Walter Fisher deserved Mr. Football. Period. End of story. He and his defense have been shutting down running teams ever since that fluke against Pearl(week 1). Hillsboro beat Stratford by 10 with 140 yards in penalties. They beat Melrose (although only by 1) with SIX fumbles, losing four. If Hillsboro holds the ball and doesn't commit drive-killing penalties, MoWest will have to play a heck of a game to beat Hillsboro. Hillsboro 24-14.
