  1. My understanding was all the above happend,...but if, and I will say if,...the coach/AD (same person) wrote it up on paper, and if they pretended to have a parent meeting , and if they suspended the players two games per the rules on paper, and then if the players played under different names and if they played under different numbers, and if they really never sat out at all, and if they were in Fl in a tournament where it would appear no one would really ever know the difference, then it appears UC has a problem that is greater than just players in a fight. This is the least of their worries if the AD planned and went along with this. And "if" a parent was not offended by such actions of dishonesty, then maybe no one would have found out. The word is however the director of schools is an honest man and will not put up with such things. They are investigating the situation and questioning players and parents who were there and something will be known soon. In the mean time director send the AD home for 10 days. That much is not an "if" it is fact. Long story short, it goes deeper than an umpire not reporting or an "honest mistake" that everyone makes from time to time. In mean time UC has a new coach and AD. SO you fill in the blanks from here!
  2. Union County High had players involved in several fights, ejected from games. Then attempted to cover this up,..not report, then report late, played under another name/number. Now mind you this is the athletic director that stands in judgement of other coaches, as well as players. Oh by way, one of the players happend to be family. I know, next we will hear everyone does this but I do not beleive that. Especially from somone placed in a position such as an athletic director.
  3. Yep, it looks like that whole new attitude you were talking about three years ago is the real deal!
  4. It is easy to make excuses, just a few strokes on the keyboard. The fact is an assistant coach has no business ever getting a technical foul. Looks like the head coach needs to have control of his bench. In the second place all technicals are assigned to the head coach. Unless you are SURE the official assigned the technical to an assistant coach (an indirect technical) then you assume it to be assigned to yourself. If you are not sure who it was assigned to then the head coach is not on top of his game. The rest of the story is; following head coach ejection he used foul language as he passed in front of Claiborne bench. Real classey move. In the closing minutes of the game UC did make a run with three steals and two baskets in a row. But thanks to the UC bench coaches remaining they called a time out on the third steal (with those excited fans you were talking about on their feet). breaking their own momentum and quieting the excited fans. Claiborne builds lead back out of reach. You left those details out.
  5. It is obvious that several of these posts by the basketball "experts" were in fact not in attendance of this game. I was. There was NO pressing in second half, starters were not in the game attempting to run it up, as to the cheerleaders and the expert with no ties to the area but just happened by to see a good game....well, I was not as lucky as them to be in the locker room or in the huddle at time outs to hear UC coach instructions.....I tend to thik they were not either...... if you were there early enough you might have noticed a JV boys game. Being the "expert" on doing the right thing I would assume you understand that if players play on both JV and varsity they are limited to six (6) quarters of play in one night....This means a coach has to be careful how and when he inserts the younger players...they must be spaced out as to not to go over the limit. Also there was no mention of the WG coach telling his team to not attempt to score. They stopped playing in final minutes and held the ball. I have heard of this as unsportsmanlike depending on who is talking. When do instruct players to lay down? Yes there were two times UC players attempted a steal in back court...but it was after WG layed down and quit playing......If I was a player who mostly watches and gets their chance to really get some minutes..I might feel the same way. I recall Pat Head Summit being in same position a couple years ago....her response was only to say...at no time do I tell my players to lay down. they play till it is over....ahead or behind..... By the way UC crossed 100 thanks to WG tech. foul shots, so one may want to post a thank you to their coach if it bothers folks so much....no tech fould and UC stays under 100. You would think this never has happened before.
  6. Union County was not mentoned by anyone to compete in the district in preseason. With wins at Anderson Co. & Cumberland Gap, and currently 4-0, has anyone seen them play? Is the new coaching staff the difference? or new players?
