1. QUOTE(ihavenofriendzz @ Apr 14 2007 - 08:37 PM) 826437611Farragut people we just need to realize that DB fans know all. I mean they like the all time winningest team in like 2 sports aren't they? They obviously know what they are doing. we should just take our 3 championships in 4 years and throw it away and listen to them. It has really worked for them the last few years.

farragut has one 1 championship... coach pharr has three in 4 years... someone has to have been on the previous teams to be able to mention the multiple championships. Sorry to here they got knocked out and good luck to pharr next year.

  2. QUOTE(ihavenofriendzz @ Feb 26 2007 - 05:59 PM) 826390321i didnt flip off the student section of Powell. the flipping off was just a screw this not screw you. it wasnt directed at Powell in any way. it might have looked like because they were behind me and i did it as i walked out. im not going to flip off the Powell students when they didnt do anything to deserve it. everything i just said in that last post is correct. nacba where you even at the basketball game or are you just going by what you read from people on here?

im classless for getting thrown out of a basketball game then so is Bruce Pearl. UT might as well have been national champs in basketball last year because they didnt lose to Florida. Boise coulda been the national champs in football because they beat a team who beat a team who beat a team and so on til a team that lost to a team that lost to Boise beat Florida. is that hard to understand no. all i was trying to say is that if Farragut winning state was luck then why cant Bearden beating Farragut be luck.

you cant blame me for ruining this thread. i wasnt the one who brought up stuff from a completely different thread and a completely different sport.

shut your mouth, you are making farragut look bad

  3. In baseball, year-in and year-out, for S-D I'd bet it's going to be Farragut and Bearden way ahead of D-B. Waaaaayyy ahead.

Given what Farragut's done over the last few years, you'd think they'd be a "red-letter" day for S-D; and if they're a red-letter day, D-B must be something like a green-letter day. Let's imagine: who's the red-letter day on your schedule, the 3-time state champion (and former national champion) who's in your district, or a team in a different region from 120 miles away? Yeah, you bet, I'd sure focus on the team from a different region 120 miles away. I might even play my frosh against that red-letter team that's in my district in order to prepare for D-B.

    Yeah, right.

Perhaps D-B is the red-letter team for 95% of some teams, somewhere, but I don't think that, as good as they are, they rate that high in the Knox County area. I'd place them something like sixth on the red-letter chart, behind Farragut, S-D, Halls, Bearden, Gibbs, and Loudon. And I'm probably leaving somebody out. Seriously, when it came to tournament time, D-B couldn't beat the team that finished fourth in the regular season in D4AAA, right?

farragut was never a national champion

  4. I waited quite awhile to post this because your closing shot here is just what others were saying about DB! You got beat by a TEAM! Rob pitched a fair game by his standards and DB could muster just 3 hits! You tried to imply that Farragut had only one pitcher and they couldn't win at state since Rob could only pitch a couple of games.....Now that the smoke has cleared and the proof is there, the Admirals used 7 different pitchers at the spring fling to give up 6 runs in 6 games! To imply that they didn't have pitching was an unfounded shot and I'm quite glad you were proven wrong! My impulse when I first read your post was to tell you to ask Vandy about the two losses they had to farragut when Rob wasn't pitching...Not only did you sell the 06 team short, you are probably underesimating a staff that will grow and prove to be just as strong next year (albeit less a Division 1 signee!) Good luck to DB, but don't look back 'cause the Admirals will always be there!

haha... they dont have to look back because they have always been in front of DB

  5. agreed^... i noticed a few errors and mental mistakes by the admirals early on in the tournament, as all teams have, and i saw pharr do nothing but encourage his kids with a pat on the tail and a few words to get them fired up and to keep their chin up. coach was very strategic, seemed to know the game front and back, and seemed to love his players. classy, classy, classy, along with knowing the game and being disciplined all came back on coach pharr. hats off, coach... again :)

haha... a pat on the back in tournament time? thats impressive... normally he has his game face on and you better enter the dugout through the other side

Just think what kind of power they would have been if the UT Coachs kid didn't grad early!

Congrats to a great school, team and coach!

That was last year's team that was better and didnt win it... along with other great players like brown and jennings.... just shows you that you have to be playing your best at that time

  6. I really cant believe they let Baylor of all teams beat them. Baylor's schedule this year was pathetic. CBHS just flat out gave up or something. They thought they had it in the bag. I heard Baylor got lucky by getting to state anyway. Evidently they beat McCallie after McCallie had beaten them nine times in a row before that. In a rivalry its hard to keep a streek going like that so I guess Baylor just got lucky and beat them at the right time. Anyway the point is CBHS let a medioker team beat them twice! What do you guys think?

they did choke but with that record it is right to say they were a very good team still... just shows they were a little overrated because a 'top ten' team in the nation probably wouldnt lose two in a row to the same team....

  7. Well if you compare this year's Class A softball & baseball brackets guess

what. For baseball today finals is game 13, while the championship softball

game will be game 14. Whole lot of difference there, huh ?

What's more this could have been game 14 or 15 for baseball today had

either McKenzie or Chapel Hill had lost in their bracket.

I agree pitching can become a huge issue but stay out of the loser's bracket

& your #1's can usually come back & pitch 2 games in the tourney.

My point is simple...Chapel Hill and McKenzie have proven to be hands down

the best in their class in this tournament. Had they gotten a bad draw & been

in the same bracket, only one makes it to the finals in this format. In a true

eight team, double elimination tournament, they could have been in the

same side of the bracket & both still made it to the finals.

Don't you want the two best teams in the Finals ?

its pretty much impossible to get the two best teams to the finals... they can lose anywhere. So why would it be needed to change the format to make sure they meet then. The best team will win the tournament anyway, so unless you have people really wanting to have a true 2nd place it is not needed....

  8. A: 10:00 Forrest vs McKenzie

    AA: 1:00 USJ vs Covington

    DII: 4:00 BGA vs Baylor

    AAA: 7:00 Farragut vs Bartlett

all at MTSU's Reese Smith Field...

10:00 state championship game is just mean... 1:00 is also marginal

  9. Like the year Riverdale baseball drew the same bracket with Hendersonville, Farragut and Germantown-Houston....

But who is to decide who the best teams are? Riverdale and Ooltewah were both 35-7 entering Spring Fling, both with wins against good competition (Riverdale's wins over Lexington (KY) Catholic, Collierville and Germantown Houston comes to mind)

One of Riverdale's wins was a 10-0 decision over Science Hill. But who knocked Riverdale out last night? Science Hill....

That is what makes baseball the great sport it is. You win a third - You lose a third - and the third in the middle decides what kind of year you have....

haha yea... that bracket was freakin brutal.... got 4 teams that were the best 4 around for a while all in the same bracket

  10. IIIFFF farragut is to win this one... can we just throw in that 2005 state championship also to make it look better....

Rob is gona have to get a pinky ring if they pull it out... he better at least

  11. tough loss for Ravenwood. They have enough pitching depth to play a few more games. Great win by Farragut

its a shame that the state finals moved to middle tennessee, because memphis was starting to play as home field advantage for farragut since they have visited often.

  12. You seem pretty mature for a young guy who just graduated. Perhaps more mature than many who post on here. As you form your opinions, consider this: D-B is the winningest High School program in the state in football, baseball, and basketball. I believe basketball leads the nation in total wins. Our baseball coach is definitely the winningest coach in the state, but I'm not rock solid sure on our total baseball standing. I believe we're number one in that one as well. Understand that we are THE red letter game for everyone we play. As soon as we lose, the gremlins come out and call us chokers, overrated, East Tennessee champs, etc. Many don't appreciate the fact that history or not, we are still in East Tennessee. That means less population, lower minority population, and often less overall competition to prepare for the giants down-state. Our people are enormously proud of who we are, but the fact is state championships will always be very hard to come by for anyone in East Tennessee. I say that with a begrudging tip of the cap to Science Hill for their hoops run in the early 90's. So, anytime we lose, expect a certain defensive mentality to arise from our faithful who are used to everyone waiting for our demise so they can trash us. You haven't, and have pointed that out consistently. However, others have, and will continue even when we do win a state title. Then, it will be "D-B recruits."

DB has to win a big game in the last decade to be the team to beat... always has a great overall team, but never puts the exclamation point when it is needed..

  13. This is true....BTW...how many hits did DB have in the game...we managed to get 7 hits in three games against Catapano in three games the last two years...He is definately as good as they come...personally i think he is up there near Waldrop...now i may get some criticism for saying that but Cat is a hard throwing lefty that has some good junk and a decent..lol...fastball...jk about the decent part...and over the next few years at NC he will prolly be able to throw even harder when he is done...but that is just my opinion on the whole deal.

thats a rough statement... both are great but thats hard to say....

  14. There were two upsets in Region 2AAA. The #2 seed Karns, from District 3AAA upset the #1 seed Bearden from District 4AAA. The #2 seed Farragut, from District 4AAA upset the #1 seed Halls from District 3AAA.

Was farragut beating halls with the aces on the mound really a "upset"? Farragut now has a great chance to make state and many people wouldnt really call it an "upset"

  15. Lockwood is going to Tennessee. Yeah Catapano can be beat because you said it yourself, Halls has no problem scoring runs under any circumstances. I think it will be a great pitchers duel for about 3 innings. Catapano threw 126 pitches and is coming back on only 4 days rest. I believe he may start losing his stuff after a couple of innings and that is when the Devils will start pounding the ball.

    GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Halls forgot to start pounding the ball i guess...

off the subject, how many in a row has farragut won against halls???

  16. Well...you're saying it's a no-brainer that a talented kid would want to be in another program besides LC's? Why is that a no-brainer? After all, they're in the same district. LC has better facilities. What makes it a no-brainer to go elsewhere to play?

Well, many people would mind to go play at that farragut field which is MUCH better to say the least over LC's. Playing for coach Pharr wouldnt hurt either.

  17. No most MLB pitchers go on 5 days. Most high schoolers do go on 3 days rest but most don't pitch 9 innings and throw over 120 pitches in a single game. He may be fine I am just saying that is alot of pitches for one game and he could get tired early.

MLB pitchers go on 4 days rest by the way... if it were 5, they would have a 6 man rotation.
