  1. Pitino, you don't like Harlow and you don't like Insel You definitely don't like anything about Bradley. You know an awfully lot about what happens in the "local" basketball scenes and all about the AAU. I don't know who you are, BUT I would love for you to come watch the 13's practice sometime and talk to me. I don't know who you are on here, but you know me. Let me enlighten you on Insel. Just watching him in practice and games and the little bit I know about him, I can assure you that nobody, not player or parent, would ever get in his face and ever be back on his court. My daughter, whom you refer to as "lil shooter", has the utmost respect for him both as a coach and as a person. Most of the people who you talk to are simply jealous or envious or just downright spiteful, so don't believe everything you hear.. Note that most of the negative that you hear comes from players who have QUIT the programs or from parents whose kid just could not make it.... Or you could be hearing all the negative things from other coaches who would love to be in either of the coaches shoes . [Edited by tnwareagle on 6/13/02 8:05P]
  2. Make yourself clear on which YARD DOGS were beaten. The 16 year old Yard Dogs have not played the Canes.....
  3. I would like to know why AAU won't do something for the runners that would probably qualify for junior Olympics, but the ONLY weekend they can qualify is the national AAU basketball tourney. Can these athletes not go run in another association meet? Does anyone know the answer to this?
  4. Does anyone know who the players that are supposed to be going to Oklahoma with this group are and where are they from? I know that Lavonte Barber and Kellen Pickel from Cleveland, Scott Raines, Ryan Moore and Ryan Wilkes from Chattanooga, and Matt Magahey from Science Hill. There are 10 more players and I was just curious as to who they are.
  5. The Shelbyville 13's are all from Tennessee. They have four from east Tennessee and the rest of them are from Middle Tennessee. Therefore they represent the state of Tennessee only. Knoxville- two Cleveland- two Shelbyville- two Cannon County- one Mt. Juliet- three Laurence County- one Livingston- one Giles County -one
  6. 13's 1st: Shelbyville Sportshop 2nd: Blackhawks 3rd: Tennessee Tigers 14's 1st: Tennessee Stars 2nd: Showboats 3rd: Topguns 15's 1st: Shelbyville Sportshop 2nd:Elite 3rd: Tigers 16's 1st: Nike (Sportshop) 2nd: Topguns 3rd: Mustangs
  7. I agree they are special players, but you don't personally know Bradley's guards. They have not played for you like those two. Pickel and Pugh have played on the same AAU teams with Cooper and Davis, and they all three played on a team with Cooper. People in the Cleveland area think that Bradley's three guards are quite "special." They are as good together as any three guards in the state. Cleveland also has a couple of good posts that will challenge Charles Little. The games between these two teams will be intense. [Edited by tnwareagle on 4/4/02 2:23P]
  8. The 16's are the ones that were second in the nationals and are hosting the AAU junior Olympics. They have some very good players on their teams, many who start for very good AAA high school teams such as Bradley, Cleveland, Science Hill, Knoxville South-Doyle, etc. as well as boys from Atlanta who travel to play on this team.
  9. Tony, the Yard Dogs do not play in a league. They are similar to the TN Travelers basketball program. They simply travel. They play in NC, Florida, Atlanta, Auburn, Alabama and are hosting the AAU Junior Olympics games in Knoxville. I don't know about the Sabres.
  10. Boomer, the Yard Dogs USED to be good???? I am confused!!! They were second in the national AAU tourney last year, and they won the TN state AAU tourney. They have ALL players back from last year and added a superb pitcher from Science Hill, yet you say they USED to be good........ Did these players suddenly become worse than they were?
  11. Bradley will have as much talent as they ever have had. Expect them to challenge anyone. Rhea County was young this year and made it to the substate, I expect them to be even better. Cleveland High also will be strong. Cumberland County has most of their starters back, and although they did not advance this year, they gave evryone good games. This district will be a very tough one. Cleveland, Bradley, Cumberland, and Rhea. Throw in McMinn, who can be explosive on nights, and you have no weak games.
  12. The Sabres and the Yard Dogs are the best teams in the state that I have seen, although anytime you are dealing with 15-16 year olds, anything can happen. The Yard Dogs won the state tourney in which the Sabres played also. But the game could have gone in either direction. I would put both of these teams up against any team in the nation. If Price played for the yard dogs, the yard dogs would not lose. Yard Dogs have quality players at every position and don't depend on just winning games because of a pitcher.
