King 21 DeKalb has consistently struggled against big physical teams.  I have said that for 20 years now. The White House's, Livingston's and Pearl Cohn's have traditionally given them fits. For whatever reason DeKalb has always been more suited to a finesse style of play. I would love to see them advance but if Marshall County is a big physical team it might be a long night.

Teams usually take a style that reflects of their head coach.

    Dekalb by 6

Please pass that stuff my way, I want to try some of it!!! Haha.. MC wins and advances to the 3rd round.. you know that round that’s after you win a second round game Dekalb.. I know it’s hard to believe it’s not just basketball season time for everyone like it is every year for you guys by this time next week. But MC will help y’all get back to your regular annually schedule... Y’all have nothing to be ashamed of though, y’all already did something this year that only had been done 3 times in the schools entire football history, won a playoff game.. that’s got to help the mood at that end of year banquet and keep everyone bought in with the direction the programs headed right?  Now don’t be mad at me and act like I’m the one responsible for the very average program y’all have. Take that angry fuel and put it to use looking  at why y’all have never been past this coming weekend and finding the solution.. And like I just posted in the Dekalb vs Tully thread, Yes I was wrong and I’ll eat my crow deep fried with my adult beverages while watching college football on this gorgeous day in great ol middle TN today ;)

  3. I can eat crow with the best of em.. I was wrong and DeKalb showed up and beat Tully. I guess I’m the reason it happened right?! Print off pages of coach T message board and hang up in the locker room haha.. must’ve been a great coaching job by the staff and kids preparing hard all week.. Tully on the other hand should be embarrassed, they also seem to be one of those teams who never truly contends for a state title. And I don’t care how many regular season wins Olive has...

I now simply will go with history again and double down on Dekalb not making it to the 3rd round, never ever in school history have they been before.. never ever has Coach Trapp won a second round playoff game. What’s his post season record now? 3-12 or something?  Anyone that loves their (Dekalb)  chances to travel down to Lewisburg and beat Marshall county in their back yard please let me know and we can arrange a wager or two..

You can laugh all you want and believe DC cant play with them but im telling you this will be a good old game. DC was 1 and 3 an won 5 of there last 6.  Yes this is a big game and for DC but i believe they can play with them.  Aldino is the key to this game. some times he looks like a pro sometimes not to hot but if he throws the ball down field than yes they can play with THS. i look at this game to see how much DC has grown. Tell me this who has THS beat this yr. Looking at there schedule they havent beat anyone at all.

Honestly bud it has zero to do with Tullahomas team or talent, it has everything to do with DeKalbs entire history in the post season. Do you know how many posters have came through here saying the same things you are? about not counting DeKalb out and how they got a great shot at upsetting their first round matchup?!? It would be very similar to me telling my 6 year old daughter the tooth fairy is real but every time she put a fallen out tooth under the pillow nothing happened except her crying the next morning.. exactly what DeKalb fans will be on here doing after the game Friday night unless Coach Trapp has decided to surprise everyone and actually Win a playoff game.

  5. DeKalb is becoming the standard of solid regular season most years and then 1 and done in post season. 1-7 since 2012 and only in 2012 did they make it to the second round.. I’m gonna have to pick Tully in this one but I’ll say it’s closer than experts say.... Now if the stache himself, the legend Coach Olive wanted to challenge DeKalbs coach to a bench press competition or PlayStation Madden tournament then I’m definitely going with the hat wearing backwards, T shirt untucked jacked up guy to get the W.  But if we are simply talking about the first or second round of playoffs with Coach Steve Trapp and staff at Dekalb County then just go to YouTube and type in Jim Mora.. Ah -- playoffs? Don't talk about -- playoffs? You kidding me?

  6. It seems like those on FC side can argue and defend the rules/law for them, those opposed can do the same against them... when it’s all said and done thou just think what everyone will remember from this situation, especially if FC keeps this ongoing and plays in the playoffs while a team or teams get left out because of it and then they lose this lawsuit and found to be not eligible for postseason. The real losers in all of this is the kids, FCs, kids of those on teams that get left out. From the couple of folks that I’ve spoke to in Fayetteville about it there seems to be a mass message/ rally cry that’s being spread/shared to their players parents and families that they are the ones being cheated, it’s not fair, going to fight for it to the end., while also pointing fingers at who possibly might be who turned them in. Which shouldn’t be really important in all of this if they are Indeed guilty of breaking the rules. I’m very tired of the “it’s everyone else’s fault” thinking our kids are being taught every day.

Also when a team loses a players life in any kind of way it can make emotions run higher and even increase the “us against everyone”  mindset of everyone involved with a team, I’ve been around a couple teams that have taken an awful situation where they lost a teammate, friend, brother/sister, coach, etc.. and used it in a positive way to help fuel them for a season.. I just hope that some key adults that make important decisions at FC aren’t combining these two very different situations of TSSAA legal fight and the loss of a student/player to keep false hopes and continued support up. We should all know that right is right and wrong is wrong no matter who is doing it. We should also know which of those two bad situations FC is dealing with is more important. Football is a game at the end of the day... in my opinion it’s (High School football) the greatest game in the world because it’s the best teacher of life lessons and team work that many boys at this age desperately need.. it’s here that many boys Life’s are changed and a lot of times saved.

It may not be possible but I hope they get all this mess figured out very soon before playoff brackets are announced...  If not we all know  it turns into an even more uglier or messier situation.. If FC goes a round or two or even to the semis in the playoffs let’s say and then  their teams season is officially over by defeat on the scoreboard but after the court ruling comes down they were in the wrong and should’ve followed TSSAA rules and punishment then let’s  all hope those key adults at FC that are involved are held accountable for their actions if they are in the wrong whatsoever.. And I’ll even add that if the TSSAA is found to be in the wrong they too should face punishment! Come on people,  enough is enough of the victim mindset “well I didn’t get my way so the entire world is out to get me”. Our youth watch and see everything good/bad we do around them. It could be a couple of months or 10-15 years before they fully realize what the true intentions of these key adults were but most figure it out spooner than later.. I’m jumping off the soapbox and back to reading the legal court proceeding posts!

    Fayetteville is in the right.

This all hinges on the definition of ‘territory’. Here is the TSSAA definition.

    ***
Territory – For a public school, the “territory” of the school is the geographic boundaries and bus routes of the area served by that school as established by the local board of education. For a system-wide public school or a home school student participating at a public school, the “territory” of the school is the geographic boundaries of the school system. For a non-public school or a home school student participating at a non-public school, the “territory” of the school is the area within a twenty (20) mile radius from the school.

    ***

Now, the ‘bus route’ specification is quite clearly meant to apply to ‘zoned’ school districts, with multiple high schools (NOT system-wide schools) in specific and enforced  zones within a system. The territory for a zoned HS among multiple High schools in the system is within the bus routes of the particular zone and also within the geographic boundaries of the system that fall within that zone.

The territory for a ‘system-wide’ HS is only the geographic boundaries - bus routes do not apply (they are intended to define the zones for multi-school systems).

Fayetteville is clearly a system-wide school, since there is only one HS in the system. By the TSSAA’s rules, Fayetteville’s territory is defined exclusively by the geographic boundaries (all of Lincoln County acc’d to the school board, which the TSSAA recognizes has full authority in this matter).

I don’t know if this was an attempt by the TSSAA to subvert the rules or simply an inability to correctly understand and apply them, but it’s quite clear that the previous ruling is incongruent with the published TSSAA rules and definitions.

Do you have a card for Morgan & Morgan thou?!

No other way for Richland to get in unless they beat Huntland.

I haven't looked at all the scenarios and the tie breakers where Richland will stand with a win over Huntland.

Oh wow.. that is crazy. Not likely but a Mt.P loss to Moore next week wouldn’t change that up either would it?

Outside of Fayetteville at the 1 seed and the way the rest of the region is playing down the stretch it's a cluster to say the least.

So Richland doesn’t have a shot at being top 4? I mean I know they do with a win next week at huntland but give us the run down for them to get in any other way please sir

  10. Central fans were fine. Student section was loud but nothing out of the ordinary. I think we went away from the run too soon and then it was too late. Both teams made some costly mistakes.

Agree with this 100% the run game was just forgotten to soon and the pass rush of central took over with sacks and intentional grounding of MC, but hats off to Knox Central, they are a really strong team and more than deserving of the 4A title. Good luck to them and safe travels.

  11. comments like yours are why my favorite two teams are the Raiders and whoever plays Marshall County. At least lead and tuna show some class.

Speaking of class good to see Columbia Central won't wimp out and will play us next year...probably because their coach Graduated from SHHS.

There wasn't anything wrong with my comments, it was facts. If you can't handle that or get offended then don't read em or just keep being a hater, I have gave credit to Spring Hill improving and their coach... I actually said in a previous post to imagine how good they would be if this coach and staff had been there for the past three or four years.. But no hard feelings to SH, y'all come support the region if you don't have plans or a basketball game Friday night. Knox Central will be a very very very tough test and I believe MC will have to play a very clean mistake turnover free game to come out on top.

  12. Upsets in the East makes for an interesting semifinal game at Region 4. Now that Catholic is out we will have a new 4A State Champ!!!

Congrats to Marshall County and Spring Hill for winning last Friday and with both teams getting better each week this could be a closer game than most people think.

The Big Tuna will make his prediction later this week. Have a safe week of practice everyone.

Tuna I love the work you do for the region but every week there just has been that guy that says "close game than most think" 😜😂just picking at you but I really do believe that week is thus coming semi game. Really tough central team rolling into Lewisburg and it won't be easy at all like the previous 3 or 6 weeks have been.

  13. Way down next year. They lose a lot.

Keep thinking that, #6 thousand yard rusher, QB, 4 out 5 O lineman, #72 310 DT, #9 D end that would be D region MVP if his linebacker wasn't a finalist for Mr.Football, all return! Secondary will lose the beast #27 JQ Haslip and the two playmakers outside on offense will be gone too but their is some really good freshmen and sophomores that are talented that are next up.

90-10 MC vs Giles this season in two games, y'all need to focus on y'all and that tough region that runs thru Nashville. If you aren't busy tonight come watch Spring Hill battle MC.

  14. Lost the starting RT with a stupid basketball injury the day before the game, one of the starting TBs after 1 carry with an injury but most importantly lost the FB early in the game which did a great job helping protect the QB. Fulton did a great job pressuring the QB leading to the bad game. They did a fantastic job with game adjustments both in game and from the previous meeting.

That is very unfortunate but wouldn't you say it's

A huge disappointment and bad coaching job by Matthews and company to be heavy favorites to repeat? You have 3 finalist for this award and you are sitting at home after the second round.. I'm like you hats off to Fulton and their staff for having a great plan but it does seem like a touch of complacency might've struck at the worst time. Now you move up to 5a since the school has claimed they will give no finical assistance to kids...just a very sour way for many of those seniors to go out. Very special group of seniors too, us ol country Marshall County fans can't say we enjoyed our trip up last year but much was due to having only one side of bleachers and Catholic fans not liking all the blue around them. Fulton scares me more than having to play Catholic again just because their kids are very similar to ours, had to work for everything they have ever gotten and some have to work to keep food on their families table. Sure Catholic could've came down in their BMWs and Mercedes and laughed at our half baseball field, press box shakes when it's loud, fans shaking their milk jugs filled with rocks in em on 3rd down but isn't that what high school football is all about? The community and town being all in supporting "their" team, after watching them growing up playing together and buying their value smart discount cards as they go door to door selling them to fund raise, coming to the lift a thons seeing their kids get new personal records or seniors failing to get a new power cleaning max that they would've never dreamed of getting as a freshman but all the hard work put in and believing what the coaching staff has told them since day 1. I just think it means a little more to the county schools and it's what makes it special. I wish nothing but the best to the kids, whoever wins these awards are more than deserving and definitely have put the work in or they wouldn't be up for it.

  15. Smith may not be a "power back", but I've seen him drag 5 would-be tacklers 15 yards. He's a bit undersized, but the kid can flat out tote the rock. He had 430 all purpose yards against Page...he WILL be Mr Football in his senior season, you heard it here first

Love the way this kid plays football, his attitude seems awesome and has fun doing what he does. He has some weapons around him but his problem vs MC is that he is playing vs MC. Their front 7 will overmatch Spring Hills Oline and tight ends, fullbacks again. Very great first year for the new staff at SH thou, just imagine if they was already there for the past 3 or 4 years what they could've done with the talent they have had.
