  1. Last year Courtney Norman from Humboldt fell and hit the back of her head. The trainer there said she needed to go to the hospital. She was put back into the game and the same thing happened again - she had to be rushed to the ER with a concussion. Then Nakendra Pack ran into a girl and twisted her neck. She had to be airlifted from Dresden High School.

The refs couldn't help any of these incidents, but those three Friday night were about the worse three I've seen the past few years!

  2. 3rd..You're right..Greenfield just may be the team next year..if not..I really like Lake Co's chances with Patrick Robertson back,Russell Avery,Carlos Young, and Ron Garret along with about 3 studs from the middle school,Rafael Tyler ...Tony Tyler's brother in particular

Humboldt has 6 Juniors that will be Seniors next year. Charles Taylor 6'6 (19 on Haywood, 17 on UC), Tevin Crayton 6'4 (21 on Lake Co and 19 in a game), DeAndre Perry 6'3 post that started some last year but has not been healthy this year, Jarvis Porter 6'2 can jump out of the gym, Rashad Wade and a new guard that will suprise everyone next year. Everyone one of these kids can play and 4 of them have been starters at one time or another, and they all get a lot of playing time. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

  3. Channin Geanes finished the game with only 1 foul and Russel had 2. Humboldt held Geanes to 10 points and only 3 field goals. Avery had 31, he can shoot the ball!

Epperson didn't play for Humboldt. Tevin Crayton stepped up in his place and had 21 points, Raymond Parham had 14, Hunt chipped in 7, and Cordero Wade had 22. Humboldt led by around 10 points for most of the 4th quarter and outscored Lake Co 44-22 in the second half.

  4. Humboldt #8? Hmmm...

Humboldt was clearly the most athletic team at State last year in 1A. They beat Temple every quarter except the second quarter where we we let Temple score 25 points and we scored 5 /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> One of the worst games we played all year long. We lost one player off last years team..... a Senior that sat out half of every game because of asthma or foul trouble. We return 4 starting seniors and 5 more strong subs. Humboldt played sloppy the first few games this year, but looked lots better last night. Were leading Gibson Co 57 to 19 after the 3rd quater last night before playing all subs 4th quater.

Your #1 Lake Co is not the best 1A team in the State. Isn't CSAS the same team Temple blew out last year in the Championship game? Manassas got all Westside's transfers and could be the most athletic team in the State, and UC will be at or near the top.

  5. russel showed me something the other night the way he elivated over everybody to finish plays and the way the he rebounds. He might be the most talented player in the district.

Most talented player in the district? Have you seen MJ Brown, Andre Coby, or Robert Yancy play? Charles Taylor is also a 6'5 guard that can handle the ball, get to the goal, post up, or knock down threes.

  6. Northside had Richard and Reginal Delk, Dell Coleman, Chase Campbell, and another little guard (cant remember his name) that could flat out play! There's no way they shouldn't have won State when those kids were Seniors! I believe Liberty's team last year would've beaten them because they were more disciplined and a lot better coached.

  7. Those long arms of Lake Co are going to present some problems..And Russell Avery can shoot from 3 point range as well as close to the goal..So Epperson is going to have to go out and play..

Seems like you think Epperson is the only big man Humboldt has...

  8. Free throws were the difference in the game. It was a 2 or 3 point game most of the 4th quarter. Humboldt had to foul at the end. Union City made 9 out of 13 free throws in the 4th quarter to put it away. Humboldt shot 9 for 21 from the free throw line. Exciting game with a bunch of good shooters.

  9. J.W..How did the scrimmage with Dyer Co go..Haven't heard from you..Didn't hear much..Justin didn't have time to talk when his uncle was talking to him..Just said the first half was pretty close and after that Dyer Co took care of business...I'll talk to him tonight to get his take on Humboldt..

He must have watched a different scrimmage than me. Humboldt was up by as many as 19 in the 2nd quarter. Humboldt came out sluggish in the 3rd quarter, and Blake knocked down a few big threes. Humboldt won 72-70. Humboldt played 12 kids in and out. Humboldt's two starting guards Chauncey Hunt and Odell Jackson didn't play very much. Jackson had leg cramps and Hunt turned his ankle. We finished most of the 4th quarter with no more than 2 starters on the floor.

  10. An as for Liberty they were excellent last year. But what about this year /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> See you in the boro.

Liberty would win State in AA again this year.

  11.

Yes, I'm pretty sure Logan will be playing. At least that's what I heard over the summer. Blake Davis is the guard from Central. I haven't seen him in a year or so, but unless he's gone backwards (highly doubtful) he should get plenty of playing time at the guard spot.

If these two kids are playing -- it will definately have the Trojans locked up with the Choctaws for the 13AA Title..

    YES_- they are that solid /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> D'BURG will roll /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    redbirdfan,

    Humboldt beat Dyersburg by 24 this summer in Arkansas /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

  12. Elijah Epperson, Charles Taylor, Tevin Crayton, Raymond Parham, Rashad Wade, and Jarvis Porter from Humboldt can all jump out of the gym. 5'7 Freshman Quan Campbell had 3 dunks last year in the 8th grade. He has more natural jumping ability than anyone I've ever seen. DeAndre Perry, Chauncey Hunt, Darren Dunbar, Quenton Jennings, and two more Freshman can throw it down. That's 13 kids on a Single A team that can dunk at anytime. I'm not talking about a layup and pulling the rim down. They use plyometrics every year in the off season and it really pays off.

Oops forgot about Cordero Wade... that makes 14.
