  1. Nothing keeping Clarkrange from hitting triple digits in this one (even playing subs after halftime)!
  2. You are exactly right. After going back and reading my original post, I don't know why I thought I was comparing apples to apples. That was more like apples to cucumbers! /wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" /> If anyone responds following this, ignore the holding/stalling comments in Post #1 as sign of temporary insanity! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Since Districts are over I guess the topic will rest again until same time next year. Thanks to everyone for all your input! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  3. Certainly not to dis my friends from Pickett County, but FCS1984, bobcatfan300 was making the only comparison he has at his disposal, his team unfortunately did not make the Region tourney this year. He is just wondering how strong FCS is and if they will beat Monterey since they struggled against Pickett this year?
  4. Clay County hasn't had a problem either time with Gordonsville so should be three in row. Clarkrange, with Upchurch and Jones should take care of business on the plateau against Westmoreland. Jackson County is playing pretty good ball. Taking on Trousdale should be good but Bluuuuuue Devils will advance. Friendship's size will be too much for Monterey to handle. Not enough weapons to go with Buckner. GO 7A!!! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  5. Thanks Indian for sharing your thoughts. I was pretty sure someone would have a story or two or memories of it happening in the past. I just couldn't believe that no one ever knew of it actually happening or being on a team that actually did it in the past. Unless you (in general) was on a team that did it or there a was a ballsy enough coach to actually brag about it, it really be something hard to prove to the point of any disciplinary action.
  6. Before this goes any further and turns into any bashing of myself or any one particular coach or team, let me start by saying those that know me know that I coached youth sports for 20+ years and have been involved in coaching everything from Tee-Ball, Little-League, Coach-Pitch, Babe-Ruth, Jr.-Pro Basketball and Football to Co-Coaching AAU girls basketball at the National Championship Tournament level. I NEVER DID intentionally put any of my teams into a losing situation to better their chances later down the line. I personally was too competitive and enjoyed the looks on my players faces when they did BEAT that team they were not suppose to beat and Flash49 I agree sports should be used to help kids learn lessons they will use later in LIFE and I tried to do that as well. But, back to the topic. You could apply this principle to any team facing an almost unbeatable team, whether that team is Clarkrange, Marshall County, Gibson County, Upperman, Memphis Central, or any of the power-houses on the boys side - Manassas, Humbolt, Austin-East, Livingston Acad., Bearden or any great team you can think of. If you believe that all coaches at this or any level are ALL moral, and have the kids betterment first and foremost in their motives then you must be living in a fantasy world. I wish it was that way but EGOS, TEMPERS, PRIDE, and GREED tend to get in the way so many times instead. You know as well as I do some have a WIN-AT-ALL-COST attitude. This forum is used to talk about a miriad of topics, some light-hearted, some controversial, and some down-right-mean. I have heard this talked about not only this year but in years past. Just was curious what all the "anonymous" posters had to say about the subject. If no one wants to talk about it then the thread will be like others before and after it.....it will simply die and go away.......................
  7. You can hear in the crowd at any given District tournament this week "If Team X can stay out of the bracket with Team Z then they have a better chance of making thru the Region tournament." If one team can get into an "easier" bracket by losing instead of facing possible elimination by winning, is it ethical for a coach to help their team play "Not To Win". OR Is it a very strategic move to ensure advancing in the tournament by avoiding tougher competition? Is there a difference between this and holding the ball an entire game to keep the score ridiculously low and close knowing that the stalling team is outmatched player for player and couldn't possibly win in a "normally played" game and must resort to a glorified game of "KEEP AWAY" (One game I recall like this was Gordonsville vs Smith County (boys) several years ago). There is no rule in the book that says you must play to "WIN". I am very interested in hearing EVERYONE'S viewpoint on this highly controversial topic!
  8. Congrats to the Lady Blue Devils. My Lady Dawgs were extremely cold from the floor tonight and very careless with the ball. Those two factors as you found out first hand usually results in a loss. /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> As already described by a previous post, it was a very sloppily played game and an effort like that against Clarkrange will only result in a 20+ point win margin for the Lady Buffs.
  9. The loser of this game would almost certainly end up in a Clarkrange Regional Semi-Final bracket. Not a nice thought no matter who you are. Has Clay County found the defensive magic to stop the Lady Blue Devils? Did an absent Emily Bowman make all the difference in the JC loss? Can Clay County rebound and run the floor this time as well as they did on Senior Night? What ever the answers are to these few important questions should predict who wins this D7A Semi on Thurs. See Ya @ Hogeye! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  10. I agree with all EXCEPT I believe Monterey is playing well enough to advance past RBS. Red and Grey not as tough on NEUTRAL floor. Too young and inexperienced just yet (my opinion..nothing personal).

  15. Win or lose drop by the table and say Hey! Always interested in the thoughts of the 7A fans! See ya Tuesday! /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  16. Probably just a typo worden55, but remember RBS will dominate 8A next year!
  17. WOW! I didn't know I had that impact on you guys! I enjoyed it everytime or I wouldn't have done it! Tell my good buddy LM I said hey! I don't want to take over this thread but glad to hear the former players really enjoyed having me do their games that got them to the "BORO"!
  18. Thanks for the kind sentiments 7ASuperfan. It is always great to know my efforts are appreciated even by the opposing teams' fans. Man, I have really missed doing the District Tourney as well as the Region when I got the chance. LA has turned it into a big "fundraiser" for them so they have been trying to get the tourney ran by "volunteers" from Hogeye which included gate-keepers, book-keepers, clock-keepers and yes, even the announcer. I don't know of that is going to change this year or not. Maybe the Coaches could say something if they wanted me as well. I would jump at the chance to get to do it again. Would probably even take a considerable "cut" in pay to do it. I learned along time ago the way to stay impartial while announcing the tourneys was just to let every thing come out with the same emotion as I do @ CCHS home games no matter what two teams happen to be on the floor. I even missed getting to do the PCHS Sub-State game (the only one that they lost). FYI, I told Coach Bibb and Brent and even Barry while he was still there that I had a winning streak myself! (Every Sub-State game I have announced whether Celina/Clay County girls, Clay County boys, or Pickett County boys, the team I announced FOR has won the game every time) Not bragging just stating the facts. I was at the Chatt A&S loss but was not announcing. I like all the people from Pickett. They always treated me as one of their own when I came to announce. I have also developed some close friendships with several ex-players from those "GLORY-DAYS" as well. Come say hey at the District Tourney. I won't be hard to find! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  19. What is the Classes and Heights for Bees' starters..How far down the bench does Bobby Mc usually go?
  20. How do the Dawgs matchup with the Bees (size, speed, athletes, etc.)? /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  21. You are exactly right. Thanks for pointing out my mistake. Just got caught up in the winning moment. Bobcats played much better than they did at home against us. Emotions running a little high there in the end. I believe the Dawgs were getting a little frustrated that Pickett was hanging with them this time. Jackson County comes calling next Tuesday. Bulldogs will need to step it up a notch to get the district split with JC in order to win it out right in C'range a week from Thursday.
  22. CCHS at Friendship Christian CCHS Won 60-55 CCHS hosted Friendship Christian CCHS Won 49-41 Nov. 25 FCS at Eagleville FCS Lost 33-40 FCS has 3 total losses and 2 of them are to CCHS!
