  1. Camden looked really good against Riverside. They seemed to have everything together, maybe except shooting. With Hampton improving every night Camden will just continually get better. Any team that runs a zone on them will pay a hefty price with Hampton, French and Harris around the arc. Bain dominated down low and his last dunk was by far his best one of the year. Camden is going to be real tough in the district tourney. I am looking forward to those games. Best of luck Lions
  2. Now as much as I know that the Bruceton team is far from being the most talented team in the state. They did play well and played like a team, instead of individuals which is what Camden is prone on doing. Camden played like a team for the first time in a long time, and they came out with the win. #12 led Camden with 16 hit all but 2 of his shots, including a last second three at the end of the first half that pretty much took the heart out of the Tigers. While one game does not make the case that he will be the answer to get Camden from being an average teamwith above average talent, it does mean that Coach Martin should give him a shot. Chandler had his, as did Boyd. Maybe it is Hampton's turn to show what he could do. Camden is a totally different team when he is on the court, the pass more and their passes look sharper and not just like lazy lobs up and down the court. Nice behind the back pass Bain, that was a true show of athletiscm. Good job boys, and good luck Thursday and Friday
  3. I did not get to see the Camden game, but I did listen to it on the radio at home. I think that Kennyc is right, about Waverly shooting had to shoot 85% or something of that sort and Camden seemed ice cold from everywhere. The confidence I had in 12, (Hampton right?) was somewhat diminished by his 0 for 6 or 7 shooting day, but I still think that with a little bit of playing time he can be what cures what ails Camden. One other thing, I was not at the game as I have already said, but I could hear Waverly fans screaming over Flashes's voice, and call me old fashioned but I think that calling names when you are up by twenty just shows what ignorant punks those Waverly people are, too bad we could not teach them a lesson. Keep your heads up boys you played well and for shooting 60% less than your opponent and losing by twenty is not that bad of a loss, and you seem to have it pretty easy the rest of the way. Good luck.
  4. That makes my point yet again, that Camden needs something. Bain should not have to bring the ball up. Forwards should not have to bring the ball up EVER. Camden needs another ball handler especially with Milan's defense Bain needs to be down low cause if he is on then no one can stop him. Chandler is starting now, am I right? As much as he hustles he will not get the wide open looks like he did against Riverside, and he proved against Lexington that he is not adept in bringing the ball up court with pressure. What is # 12's name anyway? I have heard that against Lexington he had zero turnovers and embarrassed the man guarding him. Maybe he is unsure, but the sureness comes only from experience and playing time, something that does not seem to be getting in the games I have seen (which are few). Camden played very well against Milan and Lexington even with pieces missing Milan beat Camden by only four, they beat South Side worse. I think that if Camden finds that peace they will be really hard to beat. And could easily put away anyone in the district including Lexington.
  5. I think that Camden needs a spark in their starting rotation. From what I have seen that spark will probably have to come from the 2 guard (the only spot coach martin subs for) and I thought that Chandler was that but he did nothing against Lexington, so he does not seem to be the answer. Maybe Coach M needs to try other options like no. 12 I have no idea what is name is but he seems to have good dribbling and against Waverly he had a nice shot. Maybe he is the answer but I am not sure. All I know is that Camden looks like a good team at times, but sometimes they kill themselves Bain had 7 turnovers against Lexington and their was so many other players with multiple TOs Camden beat themselves Friday they played horrible and the game was still close. So right now i am picking Milan but if Camden finds their spark than they should win easily.

Thank you kennyc for your kind remarks. and to clear up your confusion i had a different name but something went wrong and i had to change my name. utm, it seems that all you do is hate on people i remember when all you did was hate on Bain but now you seem to be in love with the guy. what gives. i also remember when Camden played lexington the first time and all i heard about was camden's weapons and how deep their bench was. Anyway if their bench stinks so badly why are they on the team? yeah French can shoot if he hits his first one but if he misses forget about it. he is very, very streaky. Rugdu, i agree that camden's biggest downfall is that they play the level of their opponents but i think the biggest reason behind that is their coach. if your coach had you prepared for each game that would never happen. i am very sorry that i gave riverside 7 more points than they actually scored in the first quarter. one of the greatest comebacks come on man, it was against riverside who is in last place in the district. they should have never been down to the panthers, i think that camden does have a good bench and a good shot at district finals still, even though they lost 3 of the first 4 district games. They need to just start playing like a team, and keep their heads in the game. so to answer my own question i think that Camden are contenders, they just have not figured it out yet.

    Camden

The last game that the Camden lions have had against Riverside, was some of the worst basketball I have seen played. I did not go see the McKenzie game but I did see that Camden won barely, it seems crazy to me that a team that was supposedly full of weapons and were predicted by several to win the district are struggling and losing to the lowest teams in the conference. If they can not beat Riverside how are they going to beat Bolivar when region comes around. a lot of Camden's problem is their coach. Barry Martin is a nice man, but he is not a good basketball coach. when Riverside scored 15 or so straight points to start the game he never once looked at his bench or called a time-out to change the game plan or cool the panthers off. when i talked to people on the camden side they told me that Coach Martin never made the team watch film or develop a game plan before the game. he simply runs the same drills over and over again. he also seems scared to take his starters out, after Riverside scored 27 points in the first quarter he subbed all five but only for 1 minute in the first half. He never plays his subs. and all i hear about is how deep Camden is this year but in three games I have yet to see it. There are only three or four people to come off that bench and usually there is less. Even when French missed his first 10 shots (exaggerating) he kept him in the whole game. He also had Bain who is a great post defender guarding the 3 guard who stayed out at the 3 all night and killed Camden. He never made any changes to his plan (if he had one) all night even though it was obvious to all but him that the change was needed. Camden wins on talent alone and with a decent coach I think that they could win their division. But I think that we will never know what Bain and Reed would be capable of if they had a coach.
