  1. Whatever happens, we've had a good game on both sides. Bolivar needs some good hard games like this to build on.

Only a few if those you see tonight are Srs. I said earlier to be honest we're about a year away.

But we played hard enough that the "mercy rule" wasn't needed!

Coach Lowe has a plan and it's worked so far.

  2. Guys, I'm a Bolivar fan, but I also grew up in NW TN so I know Milan well. And many of your predictions are very likely right since our new coach came in to a program that the previous coach had not only run aground, but had purposely wrecked on his way out the door.

Who knows if we'll ever pay again or not since the TSSAA changes things every 5 min, but I'll tell you a couple of things about the program. Coach Lowe is developing a great program, but we're not there yet. Most of our best players are 10th grade..with a few others here and there. We are about a year away, but the team goals were met this season.

The SS game was a mess. I'm not being a homer when I say the refs had it in for us that night. I'm sure ya'll have had same...just one of those nights. Bolivar stayed with them in a tight match until 3rd Qtr, but SS did get the win. No complaining here about that, but it was closer than the score indicated.

Covington? They were the better team Period. Our lack of experience was glaring that night.

Milan has always had a good program all my life. But I've got to defend my boys a little here, b/c they are coming on. No doubt about it.

Maybe they'll catch some "sleeping dogs"?  But if you do win, I hope you take it all the way!!!

  3. I got Howard in this one! They will pull away with ease! 20+

Well oldkodger, EL didn't send Bolivar back west(as you predicted) and Howard(and congrats to Howard) but they won by 2 instead of your predicted 20+!

Great teams in both brackets...but I'm still pulling for my Bolivar Tigers! 8-)

  4. At this point, I'm not going to be all smart talk because it could be anyone's game.

But if I have to just guess...I'd say the only thing Stone will say IF they hand Bolivar the ball is "good luck in the next round, we'll be listening from home".

Beat down and tired out? Bolivar? Please.

  5. Liberty was very lucky to come away with that win; with that being said, I think they should beat Bolivar. All Liberty has to do is apply pressure to the ball and Bolivar will turn it over. Liberty should be favored to win the 2A championship. Bolivar played a Fayette-Ware team without one their best players (Bass). Bolivar in that game in my eyes still didnt play well. They struggle with ball handling and will not get the big kid involved in the game #21 (Robertson I think is his name).

When Bolivar and Liberty play...it could be anyone's game. But Bolivar has beaten Liberty this season, so to act like it's impossible isn't exactly right. I'm sure both teams will show up to battle. They usually do.

Bolivar's ball handling was sloppy last night at times. No doubt. But regardless who did, or didn't, play-they still won. And the first half they weren't just winning, they were dominating with a 20 pt lead.

Either way...it's Liberty and Bolivar...so we all know it's anyone's game.

This game will now be bigger than anyone knows...just wait and see.

    It's a must win!!!

  6. Bolivar will be at the Tourney...and if they can get hot right now...they could win it again. It's all about when you turn it on. Lord knows...I hope they really turn up the heat now!!!

But I do beleive they'll be back at MTSU. Especially after they won last night.

  7. Yes this one has to be special for Rudisell as well to do it with not one Major D1 Prospect Murphy mabe A Mid-Major is an awsome feet no one can say he had Willie,Brian Lake or Chism is the only reason he won this dude can flat out COACH

This one is super special for BCHS. As someone said on a previous post- this Bolivar team didn't have any big-time standouts. Very good players...yes. But I guess my point is that as BIGWEBB said: Rudesill can flat out COACH. The boys put out all the effort and sure got it done, but Rick brought them together and has developed this team all year. When you beat the type of competition we did, you're not being "given" anything.

    32-4. Not bad.

One other thing. Fulton, Marshall County and for sure Liberty were great competition! Those teams can flat get it...and I know that is NO surprise to any of their fans!

    GO TIGERS!!!

  8. Bolivar the little team that could wins the 2aa state championship. This was great because nobody outside of Bolivar believed they could do it, but they won it all with hustle and class. Once again congrats the citizens of Bolivar are proud of you. :thumb:

    You said it btownbasketball!

This team really did play with a great deal of heart (beating some great teams along the way).

All championships are good of course...but this one is especially great because this team really did refuse to lose.

TIger players and coaches...we are all really proud of you!

  9. I think they got away with some fouls and got a few charges called with flops on d, but they still put forth a great defensive effort. I feel confident in saying that Marshall Co. was the better team, but Bolivar found a way to win, and that's what championship teams do. I also wouldn't say that Marshall Co. just got out-coached. Coach Tigert drew up a great gameplan, but Murphy just wasn't going to let Bolivar lose.

I can't agree with all of your post here mcfan10, but as soon as the game was over I posted that Marshall Co. gave us all we wanted. I still believe that.

I do agree with you that championship teams do find a way to win...and that goes for Bolivar, Liberty, Marshall or whoever! But still, no matter what happens this half, I'm proud of our team because Steele and Johnson were both tough competition.

It's the half and it's 30-27 Bolivar. Shooting is much better for the Tigers...but still anybody's game.

Either way man, we'll know before long!

    But...COME ON TIGERS!

  10. K Johnson had 10 of those turnovers. That's an insane amount from one player. I'm fairly certain Bolivar had something to do with that.

yankees8589, you said it man. Bolivar has had trouble with shots falling-in the last two games...but their defense has won the last two games. Most people would say...a good "D" outweighs luck almost anytime.

I have to believe they will have more shots fall today. They are due to have a better game in that department today.

  11. Toinemac, Bolivar will be playing for a gold ball, but far from a great team. Great teams don't always find a way to win, an average team can find a way to win. Bolivar made a great comeback, and the fans should feel good. Like I said before, you guys get on here and build these teams up to be more than what they are. All I hear about is how weak everything outside the west is. It's not hating, it's about respect. I'm not going back and forth defending Marshall, this game is between Bolivar/Liberty. Just know that if you think the only basketball is being played in the west, you need to travel more. Good luck to all, and Marshall will see you at the Boro next year!

MC1992, I know you addressed this post to Toinemac, but I just gotta say a couple of things.

If the Tigers win the Gold Ball today, after overcoming two difficult games-with great players, then I do believe they can truly be considered a great team. I feel that yesterday's game was one of the biggest wins Bolivar has had in a long time. And the Tigers have beaten some great teams. After the Fulton and MC wins...we're proud of the players and coaches no matter what.

Also, I believe most posts from the west are not really meant as dissing any Mid or East teams...they're just trying to get folks fired up.

Finally...I really hope the Bolivar Tigers are back at the tourney next year...and I don't mind one bit if they play Marshall. I have the utmost respect for every team up there and Bolivar, or whoever, must beat the best to be the best. So...bring it. If we can't do it then, today or whenever, my hat is off to the team that wins. If Liberty wins today...hat's off to them. They are a great team...no matter where they're from! Bolivar v. Liberty games are always good ones!

Yes. I realize that was three comments and not just a couple!

Let 4pm come on and may the best team win. Wish I was there, since I can't be I'll be watching Bolivar alum Wayne Chism and the UT Vols while listening to the TIGERS!!!

One final comment......off topic, I know...kudos to former Bolivar Tiger Willie Kemp. He's a great young man and I'm truly sorry his college carrer ended last night.

  12. OK. My pick won't be a shock to anyone...Bolivar in a close one.

I'm taking nothing away from Liberty. They are always good. I sure take nothing for granted anyyime these two play each other.

But, Bolivar does find a way to win and they will more than likely be back on track with their shooting today. Man, they sure are due a good day offensively! For those that don't usually follow them, I'd caution against basing their ability based on the shooting they've done in the tourney so far. Their defense has been very good so far...facing both Steele(Fulton) and Johnson(Marshall) was no small feat in itself.

That Marshall Co. game yesterday was a big win for the Tigers. Down 11 mid-way thru the 4th and came back to win by 6 in OT. They can scrap when it's needed and even though it is hard to beat a good team this many times in a season...

    Bolivar wins it.

I can't wait for the tip-off in this one!
