  1. Tough loss last night to a determined Brainerd team, 52-51. It defined the team's motto: #NoStruggleNoStory.

Now our attention is turned to the Sectional (Sub-State for y'all old heads). Stay focused, rely on each other and let your Defense trigger your Offense!!

    Go RAMS!!!

  2. This will be the 5th time in the past six(6) years that Tyner has competed for the Region Championship (2017-2022), winning twice. This will be Brainerd's 3rd time during the same period, winning twice.

Good Luck to Coach Ward and the "RAMS" on tomorrow night!!

    Semi-Final breakdown:

    Meigs Co.(18-10) vs Tyner (21-9)

Basically it comes down to match-ups and what's in a 16/17 year olds heart at this time in the season. The teams have a few common opponents, however, in my opinion Tyner's strength of schedule gives them the edge. Playing Cleveland, McCallie and Hamilton Heights was a big help. Other Tyner opponents are still alive: 3A Red Bank and 4A Walker Valley and the RAMS won both games! All of this means nothing, once the ball is tossed up Tuesday but I believe the RAMS will win after a close 1st half!!

    Polk Co. vs Brainerd

Both teams coming off of emotional wins; this one is a toss-up due to them splitting the regular season games!!

Tyner and Brainerd were hitting on all cylinders Tuesday night. Should be a replay of the District Championship game which was decided by 6 points. Regardless, both teams will have tough opponents on Monday night. I pray all have an injury free game and may the best team win!!

  4. Intangibles which may or may not mean anything but gives you a summary of how the teams performed during the season:

                Meigs.              Tyner

    Home     11-3.                8-3

    Away.       5-5                 7-4

    Neutral   2-2.                 6-2

    Overtime. 1-1                2-0

I had a pretty good break down. I thought SW would get the win but when you have a player the caliber of Milen you’re in every game. I had a feeling that Central would be in the game at the end and it was a one point game with 1:30 to go. The gym was packed and Meigs used that energy to lead almost the whole game but CSAS never quit. Tyner took care of business like I thought.

Your be saying the same thing next year when you go to Polk

I won't if they sell have a multi-game pass instead of charging $7.00 each night. They don't even give the senior citizens a break($4.00).

Really looking forward to that drive to Marion Monday & Tuesday lol. Can we all just have a vote to move it to somewhere in Chattanooga?

As I said previously, Marion County wants that $$$ too much.

32-25 Meigs at the half. How’s Tyner doing?

As predicted 3 games could have gone either way..I was listening to the Polk/SW game and it was back and forth the entire time. I was getting updates from the Brainerd/Central game and Brainerd was up big and Central came back and made it a game in the 4th. I saw y'all's score at the half. How was the 2nd half??

    Region 2

CSAS at Central. This game is over before it even starts. Central bench players will play a lot.

Meigs at Tyner. I think Meigs wins handedly.

Marion at Tellico. Tellico runs away with it.

Kingston at Polk. IMO this is the game that district 4 has the best chance to win. I think Polk will struggle with the speed of Kingston’s guards and I think that will be the difference in the game and Kingston gets the win.

CSAS at Central, 86-13, on point!

Meigs at Tyner, 47-43,  will comment on this one at the end.

Marion at Tellico, 73-20, on point!

Kingston at Polk, 54-35, you missed this one but that's ok!

Now, if you were at the game you know Tyner's Girls got hosed by the referees. In my 30 years of following Tyner basketball, I have never seen a game where the officials looked like they had something riding on Meigs winning. Congratulations to Meigs on advancing, but you don't do that to any kid!! I never complain about the men in stripes but tonight was pitiful

Both teams played hard but the fouls were one-sided and the technicals were unnecessary and un-explained.

That's all I'm going to say other than I hope we never see those 3-Stooges again!!

I’m going with the home teams in the first round. Good luck tonight.

Thanks, before I break down the Region match-ups, a big Congrats to my Tyner "RAMS'' for winning their 4th straight district title (2019-22).

Polk vs Sweetwater- SW wins, however, PC is clever and tricky and they better figure out how to contain Milen & #21.

McCentral vs Brainerd- Panthers will be tough to beat and MC will have problems with those guards!!

CSAS vs Meigs- Patriots are like a sleeping giant; just when you think you got them, they wake up and score points in bunches. This game in my opinion is a toss up!!

Kingston vs Tyner- Rams win without being over confident!

  11. This time tomorrow night we will know our opponents in Region 2. Chattanooga teams should be favored at home and the 2 road teams have a chance as well to complete the sweep!

My only prediction is this: the District-3 Champion will win on Saturday.

Probably not lol. I knew Central would be the favorite this year and Meigs, Tellico & Kingston would be close. And I was surprised by Meigs sweeping Kingston and Tellico in the regular season considering that they were rebuilding this year. But I think Meigs has more talent then everyone but Central but inexperience from players & coaches shows some times and you just have to learn from it and move on. I predict that district 3 girls will sweeps district 4.

Friday night could be Meigs at Tyner.

Friday night will be Meigs at Tyner. Haven't seen Kingston this year but Polk County in Benton will be a hard game for them.  Tyner Girls have gotten much better since the beginning of the season so we will see how it goes!!

Time to comment on the Boys thread!!

Central is the favorite, Meigs, Tellico, Kingston will be battling for the 2 spot. Meigs scrimmaged Bradley Monday, they went back and forth to about midway through the 3rd, Bradley won by about 10. If I had to pick now.

    Central

    Tellico

    Meigs/Kingston

    Sweetwater

    Loudon

You were "on point" with your predictions back in November!!

Can you do the same with the lottery?

Boys Chattanooga teams are usually a little stronger but I believe it’s a little closer this year and there should be some really good games, but I could be wrong. I can post links to the games if you don’t have them and are interested in listening

    Would really appreciate that. Thanks

There should be some really good games coming up.

2A-Region 2 is shaping up to be a exciting... even before the District Championships are played. I try not to go too far into the future but I can't help it... check this out:

Sweetwater and Meigs will host either Polk or CSAS depending on the results on Tuesday.

Tyner and Brainerd will host either McMinn Central or Kingston.

Regional Semi-Final at Marion County will be something special.

Just saw on Polk County's Facebook page that games scheduled tonight are cancelled and will be rescheduled due to weather. They will notify all teams when they are reset.

Play-In game between Marion Co and Polk Co. is tonight @ 6;30(et). The winner will play Tyner tomorrow at 4:30(et). CSAS plays Brainerd @ 7:30

Dist. 3's Region teams are how they finished the regular season. The toss-up is Meigs/Central with the advantage going to Meigs. If that happens, the Final should be "barn-burner"!! Sweetwater had a 16 game winning streak until they played Howard the other night and lost by 11.

Dist. 4's teams should be the same four...I have no doubt that Polk will beat Marion tonight, however it will be closer and might be a single digits game. If that happens, both semi-final games should be good ones.
