5. If anyone from the Memphis area is planning on making the trip up let me know. I am definitely interested in going and we could split the ride.

    Thanks

There are a bunch of people from the Memphis area going, including the Bornemans, us Barnetts, and some coaches. Give us a call and maybe we could arrange something. I am SO looking forward to seeing these guys wrestle at the next level!

  6. Congratulations to all our Region 8 medalists! Y'all looked great! I tried watched every match that you were in & cheered, yelled out your name, and booed (when appropriate). I hope all you wrestlers could hear us from the stands!

Thank you for your outstanding performance, wrestlers, and coaches as well. thumb

  7. dragonwrestlingfan,

I do believe that Davis and Borneman wrestled at a tournament, either Bradle or Father Ryan but I don't really remember with Luke coming out on top.  It should certainly be a great match between the two if they get there.  Sad thing is that at the same time this match occurs argueably the best wrestler in the state, Nick Marable, will likely be wrestling to win another state title and many people will have to choose one or the other.

Father Ryan, Luke 6-5. Exciting match.

Me, I'll be watching Luke. thumb

  8. Your welcome.  He called in the all-star crew of Steve and Elisha Barnett, Jim Fryman, Mike Simpson and myself to ensure things ran smoothly.  Big Dan pitched in some on Saturday.  Garrett did a fine job announcing the finals.  Coach Bray and the roadrunners provided adequate table help.  His team manager, David, was a godsend.

    825565857

    I'm blushing. :D

  9. Yes, a great idea. Let's put it someplace like Clarksville where the attendance for a session would be less than the attendance at a Bradley-Soddy or a Bradley-Cleveland match.

    825555943

I don't mind going to Chattanooga at all. I think it's a great town and a great venue. I'm looking forward to the trip. Plenty to do during downtime. Cost is the same whether you're going to Nashville or Chattanooga. It's just a couple of hours more.

They have the facility there. They have the people to run it. They just need to work on the hospitality room, I hear tell.

  10. and my better half has already told me to leave people alone concerning their inability to spell on message boards because they could be posting like rddlvtkdwn and not using vowels on purpose.........(i'll assume she is correct since it is really the state of illinois above,.... unless they added the "i" during the 80's).  thumb

    825535722

Calling me out? Hey I get a kick out of all the creative spelling here. I contribute it to the text messaging and IMing that is so popular today. Speed takes priority over spelling.

  11. and i won't ask the obvious question here because i don't second guess beelzebub nor mini-bee concerning strategy.......... :)

    825530293

When you say things like that it makes me think of something I heard on NPR the other day, when they were discussing a Japanese word that had no real English translation:

    tatemae [tah-tay-mye] (noun)

A term often translated as "form," but it also has the specific cultural meaning of "the reality that everyone professes to be true, even though they may not privately believe it." For privately held views, the Japanese have a different term, honne, meaning, "the reality that you hold inwardly to be true, even though you would never admit it publicly."

    ;)

  12. you just don't want to upset your baby sis.....

i was going to the dragon den because beelzebub, mini bee and their minions are there also but i think i'm heading to the mall and watch you try and corral the mustang....... ;)

    825525112

Aww, Jim - does that mean we're not going to see you? You don't want to go way up there- think of all that traffic, and those shoppers with road rage....

  13. Davenport cut the top of his head somehow, enough to need a couple of stitches I think. Neither I nor anyone I was around really saw what happened. Took a while to find where the blood was coming from. It won't keep him out though.

Sorry about that other match. We didn't get the results, or I would have posted them. Didn't even think about it. Hopefully one of those schools will get the results in the paper or on their website.

  14. Per Coach House's request.

  15. you know, if your lesser half or your team leaders, beelzebub and mini-bee, would turn lose of some coin, good cameras are not that expensive. besides, over the long haul, you would save money vs. buying those throw away jobs every week or so.  :(

    825470550

It ain't the camera, it's the venue, dear sir. You know Ms. Gadget is going to have something lovely in the high end range. For example, this photo was taken in the UT roundhouse from way up in the mezzanine:

    Barnett_State_5.jpg

( photo carefully chosen so as not to show wrestler's faces)

And I looked at my Blackhorse photos this afternoon. DARK, DARK, DARK. None came out well, no matter which settings I use. Not the camera. Blame the photographer or the venue. I choose the latter.

  16. He doesn't get embarrassed, so I was embarrassed for him.  He's a funny guy away from the mat, he has no shame!

If anyone has a picture of it, please Email it to me.

    825470426

I do, Coach B, but I haven't looked at it yet. I'll email it to you this afternoon, provided it turned out. The ranch is dark (no pun intended), and I can't get good pics unless I'm up close. And you know how they are about keeping spectators & photographers away from matside. :(
