  1. DblTech- I think you need to substitue Div I for all of your Div II's and vice versa in your previous post. It is totally the other way around.
  2. Go to the website I have linked above and it has the final bracket from DII 2001 275 lb. weight class. Baucom beat Cooper MBA in the finals. Cooper beat Bullard in the Semis.
  3. Of course you agree with Waddell because he is your team's representative at that weight. I am partial to McCallie, obviously, but I took much into consideration when I made my predictions. The Walker/Rudolph rematch will be a good one and I am picking Rudolph to win, I have my reasons. Secondly, Heavyweight will be a fun one. I don't know much about Hooser (MUS), just that I saw where he beat Huff when they wrestled in state last year. Also I am looking forward to seeing the rematch between Huff and Moore (McC). And then finally whoever wins the bottom bracket against Forte(BA). It's almost here mtnrasslin! mason1bball- I picked Saint(CBHS) because he defeated Lomas(FR) handily at the Duals. I see this match as a toss up between Wash(BA) and Saint. I just made my pick as Saint because of his good showing at the Duals and Wash did not even wrestle at them.
  4. matfan (a.k.a. Matt Provenzano)- Your comments have much error. First of all go to this website http://www.tssaa.org/2001Champions/StateWr...isionII/275.htm Keppy Baucom was the #2 seed to your teammate Jonathan Bullard. Both were previous state placers but Bullard was seeded #1 because he placed 3rd the year before even though Baucom placed 2nd (another error in your previous comments) his 8th grade year (four years before that). They never wrestled head-to-head. So by the criteria that is how they were seeded. Secondly, go to this website (or look at my earlier post in this thread which states each of the guidlines in order of seeding) http://www.tssaa.org/Handbook/wrestling.pdf The seedings are established in order with head-to-head as the first criteria. Medalists from the previous year is the second criteria. Placing in years before that is not mentioned until the 4th criteria. The criteria is definitely being tweeked here by the TSSAA. Young gets his #1 seed from criteria #1 Geismar gets his #2 seed from criteria #2 and #3 Simpson gets his #3 seed from criteria #4
  5. mtnrasslin- Yeah that's my prediction, as well as your boy Waddell over both Tate and and Myers. I have my reasons for each prediction.
  6. The truth comes out with the rule written in plain black and white english above and the masses are silent. Hoping that this thread will slowly eek its way onto page 2? Well I am giving it new life and putting it back at the top. What are yall's thoughts on the DII 119 seeding now that you can see the actual rules for seeding outlined in my last post above? (The TSSAA link should work now it was messed up earlier I edited it.)
  7. Predictions For DII Individual (for the way the brackets are posted now even though I don't agree with a few weight class seedings): 103: Doster (Bay) dec. Adamson (ND) 112: Dunning (FR) dec. Manson (Bay) 119: Simpson (MBA) dec. Geismar (Bay) 125: Hiller (FR) pin Francis (MBA) 130: Cleveland (McC) mdec. Manson (Bay) 135: Leen (Bay) pin Mondelli (FR) 140: Smith (McC) dec. Waddell (Bay) 145: Blair (McC) dec. Doster (Bay) 152: Manley (McC) dec. Marable (CBHS) 160: Scott (McC) tech. Donlon (MBA) 171: Stark (FR) mdec. Turk (MBA) 189: Marable (CBHS) mdec. Rudolph (McC) 215: Saint (CBHS) dec. Wash (BA) 275: Forte (BA) dec. Hooser (MUS) OW: Leen (Baylor 135) Best Match: 152 finals (Manley vs. Marable) I'm sure some people don't agree with some of these finalists and outcomes. But that is why they are my "opinionated" predictions.
  8. Huffaker had won the last challenge series. But they had another series earlier this week in which they wrestled where Huffaker had to only win one and Hobbs had to win two. Hobbs won the first match so the next match was winner take all. If you noticed when the brackets were put up for DII there was a delay for the 171 brackets that is cause they were waiting on the second wrestle off between Hobbs and Huffaker, and Hobbs won that one too. So he earned his starting position at state.
  9. tex- If you look at my post just before your last one you will see what I really meant. Going back and reading your original post I realize that you weren't being disrespectful. It is just that like I said, it is all too common for me to read people's posts on here in the past that have not been very kind toward him or is decision making. Sorry for accusing you of being disrespectful I guess I just saw the discussion heading that way. No hard feelings.
  10. Maybe so in tex's case, but it is all too common on here to bash him and his coaching decisions. And when anyone questions/second guesses Coach Logsdon the multitudes come rushing to his defense, while Coach Connell seems left out to dry.
  11. tex- If you are talking about Coach Connell. I can tell you for a fact that he doesn't post on here. He is a close friend of mine. And if you knew him as well as I do you would know that he doesn't need to get on here and talk about himself or his program or the decisions he makes for his team. He has told me that he reads this stuff from time to time out of curiousity. But he doesn't listen to what the peanut gallery has to say, nor does he need to. He coaches his team as God directs him, not some random fan fanatic. He not only coaches his kids but he teaches them more than what shows out on the mat. So tex I would be careful when you and a lot of others on here challenge the respect that he has earned over the years. But as for me I can get on here and debate just as much as the next fan can. Everybody has their team and their opinion, that's what keeps this message board exciting!
  12. tex- What coach and which screen name are you referring to?
  13. WrestleSBA, Scott's finals match with Marable last year was a 9-5 decision. Now while that does not sound so decisive put it into this perspective. Scott had 4 takedowns for 8 points and an escape for his 9th point when he chose down when it was his decision. All of Marable's 5 points were escapes 4 escapes from Scott's four takedowns and then his own escape when he chose down. Now I would say that 4 takedowns to 0 takedowns is a pretty decisive victory. Either way it was a hard fought match. The point is Scott is not running and the McCallie coaches are not trying to "secure him his 4th state title." How could any wrestler feel good about that?
  14. dblduce, That is absurd. Scott has beat Marable 4 or 5 times with the last one being last years state championship and pretty decisively I might add. Yes Marable did stall his way to a 1-0 decision in the Father Ryan Finals last year. But to get on here and say that he is running from Marable is ridiculous. Scott will do better at 160 than Andrew Smith. The McCallie lineup is much stronger with Smith at 140, Blair 45, Manley 52, Scott 60. Don't try to make it look like Scott is running. Scott, Manley, Blair as seniors are doing what is best for the team. Plus at the same time Smith was promised (as was already stated on this thread) that he could choose his weight because he sacrificed so much last year (not just cutting to 130 but also doing it to face R.Dunning in the finals again). He was doing that so that the team would have a better lineup last year, and the three seniors this year, especially Manley, are doing it to give their team a better lineup and chance to win state as well.
  15. These are the guidlines directly from the Wrestling Handbook at TSSAA.org. Section V E. Wrestlers who meet the qualification shall be placed in each weight division in the state tournament. The criteria for placing shall be as follows: 1. Head-to-Head Competition during the regular season. (a)If two oppenents have wrestled each other, the wrestler with more wins against the other will be the higher seed. (b)If two opponents have the same number of wins against each other, the wrestler with the most recent win will be the higher seed. (Young defeated Geismar last) 2.Returning state champion from the previous year. In the case that more than one state champion is in the same weight class, the wrestler from the higher weightclass will be the higher seed. (Irrelevant here except...) 3.Follow the same procedure as #2 for 2nd place from previous year, 3rd place,... This is where Simpson finally draws his 3rd seed. The previous year he placed third and Geismar placed 2nd. So Geismar is seeded above him. Then look at the FIRST criteria, Young and Geismar split matches this season with Young winning their most recent bout. The Correct Seeding would definitely no arguements about it be: 1.Young 2.Geismar 3.Simpson The reasoning given on the TSSAA website for the change in the 119 bracket is that "Young defeated Geismar in head-to-head, but that he has not wrestled Simpson yet." That rule is not found anywhere in their very own guidlines for seeding. That does an injustice to Geismar (but he probably doesn't want it to change back) who rightfully held a higher seed than Simpson by seeding someone over him who he earned (according to the TSSAA's very own guidleines!!) a higher seed than. The point is they ARE MAKING UP RULES AS THEY GO. They need to change it back before this thing blows up in their face. Because there are countless other examples of this order of seeding in the past 4 or 5 years. The website for the TSSAA Handbook is http://www.tssaa.org/Handbook/wrestling.pdf
  16. It's not Scott this year? I'll have to divert my attention to D2 even with Bond Davis and hopefully my Spencer in the finals,,, NOT . What weight is your Spencer going this time around? soms ] Okay, Scott goes 160 and Manley now at 52. Should be interesting. It will come down to the ol saying "who wants it most" + Spencer's physical strength against Nick's tremendous skill. I would say that they are both physically strong specimens. But Manley's technique, especially on his feet, far exceeds Marable's. Marable has a lot of heart. But Manley is a much better folkstyle wrestler. It will be a good match definitely worth the price of admission, my prediction is Manley by 4 and maybe even a pin if he can get one of his knockout moves. Which is another quality that Marable does not have (one finishing move).
  17. Either way Johnson should have gone to McCallie like he was going to, instead of changing his mind at the last second and going to Baylor. Then he could have proved his championship in front of everyone. Oh well, I guess the practice room and wrestle-offs with Doster will have to do. If he can win those that is.
  18. In the McCallie/Soddy meet, the freshman Will Young from McCallie who upset Geismer of Baylor last night also defeated Fuller of Soddy. Not sure of the score, but those two freshmen twins, Will and Joe Young, at McCallie are going to be pretty darn tough.
  19. At 171 Huffaker is from McCallie and Vaughn is from Baylor
  20. McCallie beat Cleveland 66-9 tonight at McCallie. Danny Coleman pinned at 112 and Cleveland recorded a decision at 125, McCallie won the rest, most by pin.
  21. John Lane defeated Jordan Leen 4-2 tonight at Baylor. Leen had not lost a high school match since Jack Silberman defeated him his freshman year. Posting records around 40-0 each of the last two seasons. Congrats to John Lane!
  22. Hanson, You always get on here and blow steam about something that has no relevance to anything at all. It's like my momma used to always say "If you ain't got nothin nice to say then don't say anything at all!" So think twice about posting ignorant messages on here next time!
  23. I'd like to see a Lane vs. Leen Matchup. Is it possible?
  24. wildcat, bud, your body fat percent was not under 5%! I have seen the most fit and most cut athletes in high school and the lowest ones of theirs that I have seen are in the low 7's maybe 6.9, but definitely not 5! You need to get that test done right somewhere the next time, because whoever is doing that to you now is clueless. Having a body fat percentage of under 5 percent is a borderline holocaust survivor body style.
  25. The Chattanoogan is an all online newspaper that does an excellent job of high school sports coverage in the Chattanooga and surrounding areas. I think there are something like 5 or 6 total thorough write-ups from the State Tournament. The website is www.chattanoogan.com
