Yea but only brought 1 girls team and no boys teams that yr

Well but tourney was still held there. I feel for fans from both districts to have the trips made the last two years. Shame there are not better options in the middle of what's such a spread out region.

You got some info, because Region 8 AAA is being played at Lawrence County this year.  I've heard Perry County may be the region spot.

Never been to Perry Co. HS. Wondered about its seating capacity. It makes the most sense geographically when District 12 hosts. Region has endured two years of massive travel. This region is so widespread it should be held as far north as possible in even years and as far south in odd years. Clarksburg couldn't do it but maybe 11A could work out something with Lexington next year. Just a thought.

In the Coaches poll we were 5th last week and in the Coacht poll we were 2nd.  Usj lost and Clarksville academy lost so we should move ahead of them in coaches poll.  Don’t understand how USJ was ahead of us but that’s okay.  We like the underdog role!

The reason TCA was 5th & behind USJ in the 1st AP poll is because they didn't get switched to the D2A voting menu until after some members had already voted. All glitches are now fixed and this week's poll should look better.

Explained perfectly! Makes me feel better having people like you who vote and actually care about the game and kids. You are very knowledgeable about the game . I don’t get to make as many games as I’d like due to work so I really appreciate the broadcasts on the radio. You guys do a great job.

Appreciate the kind words. Glad you get to hear games when you can't attend.

Think Greenfield removed any doubt they are #1 in Class A tonight.

There simply looking at record, there’s no way there one of the top ten teams in 1A.

I have explained our process on here before but here it is again. Before the 1st poll the voters across the state share recommendations with each other so we can make a more educated vote. Media in NE Tn. did not share information on No. Greene but did recommend Tellico in the 9-10 range. Also No. Greene was not in the Top 10 SOS here on CoachT so believe that's why they were overlooked. I personally also leaned on Tim Lownsdale's Coaches Poll because he does a good job evaluating teams across the state. He had No. Greene at #5 so I probably should've voted them somewhere. I will rectify that next week.

I take voting in the AP poll very seriously and the vast majority of my colleagues do as well. We do not just look at records. Polls will always be open to disagreement but they serve a purpose and most of all that is to give the youngsters some deserved notoriety. I appreciate all input on these boards about your teams and use it in preparing for broadcasts.

By the way, tonight's Greenfield-Gleason games can be heard on 101.3 WCMT beginning at 5:40.

She did play against GC. You might be thinking of the little guard that was a shooter.. .she's been hurt all season only playing 2 games

This topic has gotten a bit confusing but I know Spanarkle knows Clarksburg. If she played at Clarksburg this year, move notwithstanding, she has an athletic record there. Would she not be ineligible for a calendar year?

You guys are too young. Bradford and Gleason combined to dominate the 90's with great teams that would at least (in my opinion) be right there with any teams mentioned. Bill Haney was considered a guru of high school ball, and he commented on air that Bradford was by far the best team at Murfreesboro one season. I'd have to take their early/mid 90's teams over any I've seen since.

The Bradford-Gleason rivalry from that time was something special. May never see a run of two teams again like that for such an extended period. David Russell & Randy Frazier are two of the best ever on the sidelines. As far as any "best ever" discussion, it's so hard to compare teams from different eras. The Darby's mother, Kasi Knott Darby was a part of that run for Bradford and think she'd be the first to tell you it's an "apples-oranges" argument. Her daughters have had opportunities to play at a high level on the AAU circuit that players didn't have in the 90's. The game has evolved. I would agree with GCPioneer's comment that started the discussion. "On paper" Greenfield is at least the best assemblage of talent in West Tennessee I've seen in Class A in my 40 years of broadcasting basketball. Can't speak for other parts of the state.

  8. Foul plagued game that kept both teams out of a good flow. Hart never got untracked offensively but played a great game on defense when she was in there. Dresden's defense lost Bass early on and she lit it up from beyond the arc to build an early lead. Dresden defense shored up and held GC to 2 field goals 2nd half. Wynn had trouble finishing inside but Childress was deadly on the mid-range jumper. She's taking her game to another level this year. Both teams will improve as they're young kids off the bench get more experienced. Good early season matchup and possible preview of post-season. Good road win for Lady Pioneers.

Lake Co. could be the surprise team in 7A this year. Some good players returning, led by Jaramiah Polk. Longtime girls coach Bret Johnson is back on the sidelines with the boys team, most of which do not play football so won't have much of the "sport transition."

This may be Greenfield's best team ever based upon what I've observed during the off-season, camps, and from some of my Greenfield friends. I think we (GC) will be better by the end of the season, but I look forward to our games. Those games will be a good measuring stick and will help our girls grow basketball wise. For the Westview showcase tourney, I have to give credit as well for putting that weekend slate together in a couple of weeks. This will be likely be a prelude to several tournament contending teams come end of season. I wonder if Loretto will play Westview while they're over here. While talking to a couple of the Greenfield parents the other day, I heard that Greenfield and Westview had a scrimmage in the past week and that Westview is loaded again as well. It's good for Greenfield & Gibson County to play teams like Westview & SouthSide. I wish they were scheduled every year. I believe we get caught up in being dominant in our own class and it allows us to see what good programs in larger classifcations are really like. The speed and size difference when we play up can only help down the road, win or lose. Those bigger schools also keep us in check, when we start reading those headlines and listening to our own hype some times. See y'all on Tuesday and hope everyone has safe travels. Go Pioneers!!

It looks like it is picking up some steam in discussions across the state. For or against? My biggest reason for is the number of magnet/charters starting up and adding basketball, really affecting the classifications.

Agreed. The dearth of charters/magnets opening, especially in Memphis has skewed Class A & thus affected the other two classes as well.
