  1. Don't put them on such a pedistal. They have been very good, but not dominant considering where they get players from. I would like to see "TRUE" Shelbyville, that being girls from there only compete for a change. Kinda like JC does all the time. I had rather have my local girls and take what comes instead of having outsiders come in, play, take our kids youth, and then leave. If you like that, then stay in Shelbyville. My heroes are the kids that make the most of their talent with their lifelong friends, and have a future together. Look at the Loretto's, Summertown's, Wayne County, Giles County, and that don't even begin to name the great East Tennessee programs from years gone by. What players on the Lady Vols team do you like the best, Brittany Jackson, or Oppipu Manunu? I like the home town girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. I have coached girls for many years and can assure you that girls (Just their nature) can have a turnaround that big without explanation. If you were to play again it might be the other way around. I just thought JC was defeated before the game started. Maybe travel, car sick, PMS, bad hair day, etc... But for the record it's 1-1 for the year. Points don't mean jack. I think JC will have a better chance at a Gold Ball in the end than Shelbyville. Shelbyville won't shoot like that every night. And when they don't and the inside gets crowded, it evens up drastically.
  3. Speaking of current coaches, I would have to go with the Jackson County guy. Even though kids are moving there now he's not won 4 in a row with transfer players. He starts with them early and developes them into fundamentally sound players first, and then the better ones step foward. The players Insell has come to him already sound and developed, looking for a bigger stage. He has feasted on these players. Mostly getting them to come and play AAU and pulling them in from there. Very few players have transferred there that didn't play on the AAU teams. An evaluation period must first be performed. Also, great players/people don't just leave there Community to be on a winning team. They stay in there Community and make it a winner. That's what makes players like Jackson County has special. Very few players will make a career in the WNBA, so were not talking about livelyhood here, just education. And you can get to a good college from any team that has been mentioned on this thread.
  4. When you say 800 students are you talking about 9 or 10 through 12, or K through 12? For example, a 3A school in Alabama will have a max of 1000 students, K throuth 12. That will mean about 300 9 through12. Most of Tennessee 2A schools would be big 6A schools in Alabama. It's not a big deal, it's just the way somebody chose to do business in the state. Makes for a lot of great county tournaments, etc...
  5. Your state has dominated in the past but surrounding states have made a move. Georgia has come miles and it shows in their college team as are the Mississippi teams. Alabama Crimson Tide Women still stink (Moody is bad) but their high schools are much better. UT has dipped down and got a few over the years from us. But the main difference in your high schools and ours are size. Yall may have one or two schools per county and in our state we may have 8-10 county schools and a couple of big city schools. Our talent is spread out more. The bad thing is we have a lot of players on teams that should be in the stands. But look how your teams that come south fare when matched up equally. I think you will see what I mean.
