  1. Is this the same TN High that claimed they were better than DB. Jeff County on a down year dominates Tennessee HIgh? The game was all Jeff County until they let up. Yep, sure, TN High can hang with the big boys. DB is 18-2 versus Jeff Co and the losses were in 83 and 91 when Jeff Co was nationlly ranked. Face it, TN High and all the other teams DB playes are not that good. And to say South or TN High have made it far in the playoffs compared to DB is insane. The fact is, once the divisions are drawn out, upper east TN teams have a hard time getting past Knoxville teams and DB has done this more of late. In other words a TN High or South team making a 4th round playoff game against a Knoxville team is equal to a DB team playing a Knoxville area team in the 2nd round because of the layout. Jeff Cobeating a TN High team shows the difference in level of play. DB has beatean Jeff Co since 1991. Begin Excuses

DB needs the Jefferson Countys of the world...else Graham would never win a first-round playoff game..

  2. Still a pretty good race in the IMAC. Seymour has no loses and SD, Jeff, and SCHS all have only 1. I think this is correct.

    Sevier has three losses now...

JCHS and Seymour play next week..Monday and Tuesday

  3. Should compete with Morristown West and Sevier County for top spot in District 2-AAA. The winner of the district has a good chance to make it to substate, with Science Hill looking like the only dominate team in District 1.

Jeff County returns 10 seniors including at least four or five that should go on to play college at some level.

New coach Josh Warner has brought a lot of excitement during the offseason. New outfield fence, new brick backstop, new playing dirt, etc. Hopefully it will translate to wins on field.

  4. Yes you are correct lets hope! HOw about J Mathews at Sevier county. Ex vol with college exp. The point is there are several options and jc should be able to land someone to energize the program.

Why would you leave the Sevier County school system, where they have money for anything they want, to come to this county. His stipend at SCHS as an assistant is probably more than Anderson was getting, not to mention his teaching pay if he does teach. If I was a 6A assistant, I wouldn't want to become a head bad enough to move here.

  5. If you factor in the mess that the school system/county government is in..I just don't see your big fish jumping at the chance to come to Jefferson County...It's either going to be someone with ties to the program (i.e. Erik Hutchins, Joe Case) or an assistant coach that is just itching for the chance to be a head...

  6. Alright,

Here is what we have so far

    George Quarles - Maryville

    Joe Case - West Greene

    Lamar Brown - West

    Erik Hutchins - West

    Richie Wilhite - Lenoir City

Spencer Riley - Anyone know if Spencer has landed anywhere?

Chuck King- HC Sonoriaville HS- Calhoun GA

Mark Cagle- HC- somewhere in SC

Justin Anderson - HC- Jefferson County

Todd Mounts - assistant - Jeff County

Chip Watkins - Assistant - Jeff county

Tim Sorrells - OC / Runningbacks - Furman

  7. I know we tried this last year but I dont think we came up with a definitive list. How many ex-JCHS players are currently coaching - high school or college, assistant or head.

    Please add on:

    George Quarles - Maryville

    Joe Case - West Greene

    Lamar Brown - West

    Erik Hutchins - West

    Richie Wilhite - Lenoir City

Spencer Riley - Not sure where he went after UTC last year, if anywhere

  12. I wouldn't call it controversy, but there is no clear starter. In camp Wednesday morning, both Darby and McFall worked out with first team, alternating snaps. Not series, but snaps.

If I had to guess, I would say McFall would play qb, move Darby to receiver or tight end and that will open a spot for Tolliver, Mason etc. in the backfield along side brooks. Of course if Darby proves to be the better quarterback in the long run then that's who they will go with.

  13. Anyone have a report from the 7-7 either from last night or last week?

Who stood out? Who needs to work on what?

Looked a lot better Monday night at South Doyle. McFall completed more passes, Shane Frank caught two touchdowns. Defense continues to be the highlight - secondary much more athletic - Mason will be a playmaker at safety.

    Camp starts Sunday

  14. We'll it is time for my one post this football season. It seems that ever since the coaching change before last season, it's hard to find a JCHS thread lol.

Anyway, the dead period is over. Jefferson County had 7-on-7 with P. Forge, Gatlinburg-Pittman and South Doyle last week. They go to S-D tonight to work out with S-D, P.F. and William Blount.

Camp starts on Sunday and will run M-F for two weeks, before fall practice begins There is a home scrimmage scheduled for August 1 at 6 p.m. against Sullivan South. Other scrimmages are at Knox Central on 8-7 and home against Farragut on 8-14.

There have been about 130 kids showing up for summer lifting - roughly 80 10-12th graders and 50 freshmen.

Tonight's 7-on-7 will feature three head coaches that are JCHS graduates....Anderson, Richie Wilhite (WB) and Erik Hutchins (SD). A little food for thought, how many other JCHS alumni are currently head coaches. Two that quickly jump out are Lamar Brown at West and King George at Maryville.

Is there any more that I am over looking?

  15. I would like to address comments made by JC#1 Fan. First of all "shame on you", you proclaim to love your lady pats and be their #1 Fan, yet never miss an opportunity to call these kids out! Enough is Enough! These are 14-18 year old girls whose main agenda is to have pride in playing for their school. This is NOT college world series. Yes, these girls will make mistakes, but they don't need an obviously scorned Fan pointing it out. There are a lot of girls on the JCHS team and I, as have you been at every game. I have yet to not see someone make a mistake, but the last time I looked there were 9 people out there not just 1 or 2. To pin a loss on any kid is terrible. Yes, there were mistakes made by the catcher which, if you were there you know she took the heat for. But there were also 2 other runs scored she had nothing to do with. The game was tied after 3 and in my limited knowledge that gave us 4 innings to win, we didn't. Yes, our first three batters may be struggling but beach ball and mack truck comments will not get them out of a slump. Yes, we beat a Cocke County team we should have, the point is we did. As for pitches not getting pitched if they are not called. I think that we have hade coaches, catchers and yes even parents! calling pitches this year, why are there best pitches not getting called? You are the one (#1 Fan) that is too busy focusing on the megaive rather than the ositive. We are young, we have a new coach, things change. Why can't you be encouraged about the good things that happening and the future of this TEAM instead of trying to constantly undermining the confidence of our players. I doubt your child has ever played a perfect game as have any of the Lady Pats. Why don't you le the coahes take care of the line up and learning curve. When we make a good play be proud, when we make bad ones encourage, when a kid gets a home run, wuit worrying about how far the fence was, be happy it went overand gave the team a chance to win. Quit making this in your words a "pitchers duel" we have 5 pitchers, be glad. I am proud to be a part of the Lady Patriots but when you call girls out and point fingers you need to remmber this is a young lady who has feelings and parents and grandparents and friends that are proud when she succeeds and feels the jurt when she makes mistakes. The coach will take care of the errors without you pointing them out. You see no other fan on here bashing their beloved teams.. Good teams are built with Discipline, Commitment, Respect and Encouragement. Grow up and quit your grumbling. We will never succeed if we have fans like you!

    AH...now things are getting exciting

  16. Great game pitched by Leon last night, but Jefferson County bats no where to be found except for Hyde and Potts. Too many K's, too many 0-2 counts.

    Lady 'Canes win 1-0

  17. Congrats Lady Trojans!!!!! Lady Trojans are gettin er done this season so far, after losing 7 seniors last year this is very impressive.
