  1. Ok, which one of you guys started this as MyTeBEe -- Jared or Josh? Anyway, it's very good of you to admit that we might not have a chance this week. At least you're not lying to yourself (I guess that would mean it's Jared then, huh ). But yeah, I REALLY hope we get a new coach. Not that I don't like Nickerson -- he's a good guy and all -- but he's just not coach material. Why not make Big Ricky head coach, or do you have to be a teacher at the school to do that? The guys really respect and listen to him more than they do anybody else. And if you're looking for emotion, look no further than Ricky, 'cause he's got enough for everybody! I'm all for it. What do you guys think? As always though, I'm for Cannon Co. all the way. Good luck to both teams Friday. GO LIONS!
  2. Cannon Co. lost their Homecoming last night to DeKalb Co. 7-14. How messed up is that?!
  3. OK. I only have three things to say right now (Wow, that's a first!). 1) The past is the past. Let it go. 2) Most football players don't get on here and say, "Our team does stink." At least we're not on here making it sound like the other team is going to win anyway, so why even try. 3) "All people worry about here is football. they don't support other sports." HELLO! It's football season! Of course it seems like everyone is more interested in football right now than anything. And y'all's other teams get support, too. Basketball especially. Dekalb has always made a big deal out of basketball as far as I can remember. But hey, what do I know? I don't know what's going on at DeKalb and honestly don't care to. We'll see Friday though, how long this "41 year streak" -- if that's even right -- lasts. See y'all there! Go LIONS!
  4. Where do you people come up with this stuff? It's CRAZY! Popcorn, that's funny. And it's very likely Josh will whine. He got detention today, so be listening for that complaint, too. Jared, sorry to make it sound like y'all are against each other or something. Nice to finally talk to you today, too. Ricky doesn't talk much, though, does he? And I really don't care if I am making fun of my own team in my other post. Everybody else makes fun of us, why shouldn't I be able to? But still, at the end of the game the only thing that matters is the points on the scoreboard. So regardless of what strings were in, when it came to points, we still outscored LA the second half, 22-8. So let's just drop that whole LA subject and get back to DeKalb, shall we? Thanks! Speaking of DeKalb, I personally can't wait to beat them. If we only play one good game the rest of the season, I hope it's this one. Kermit will be ready, Popcorn will be ready, Donnie will be ready, and of course, we'll always be ready to give them the ever-powerful "Hawaiian Punch." And I guess, or I hope rather, that Josh will be more than ready, too. Again, "Welcome to the Jungle", but for DC, it's not gonna be fun and games. Good luck making it out in one piece. Homecoming will rock for the Lions! GO CCHS! See ya'll Friday!
  5. I wish you'd all just stop. Jared, I didn't say you liked being QB. I said Josh did. I said it would be better for you to play another position because that's where you're needed more. And we're still gonna beat DeKalb. Sorry.
  6. Um, maxout, if I remember correctly, when LA's 3rd string was in, they scored 8 and we scored 22. I'd be wondering what's "bad" with your defense if I were you.
  7. OK Billy... we are talking about football. We're talking about who's gonna play QB cause right now that's the biggest issue for us. Maybe this thread would be better if there were actually some DeKalb people out there who were on here defending their team. Then there might be a little more to discuss. But since there's not, what else do we have to talk about besides US, OUR team, and what WE need to do to win? NOTHING! Sorry. And now, back to my CC people: I thought MyTeBEe was Josh. Either Logan doesn't know what he's talking about or I don't. Are y'all sharing that name or something? Josh has to earn his respect from his team himself. That's just not something that people give you willingly. To do that, he has to be completely focused on the game, serious about everything he does (not just on the field, either), and be a good leader. Josh could do that if he tried, but I don't know if I see that happening in the very near future. Somebody told me two things about Josh today, too, that I've really thought about. 1) It would mean more to Josh to play QB, and 2) Josh only says he stinks because he's looking for compliments. At least one is true, but I'm still wondering about the other one. Oh, well. Kermit, I hope there are some big ones for you to hit Friday. You'll have so much fun flattening them! I'm obviously still going with Cannon Co. over DeKalb by a good amount. We'll see Friday. GO LIONS!
  8. Logan, I see you're on here now. What do you think -- or do I really want to know?
  9. JOSHUA QUENTIN LANCE!! If you don't quit putting yourself down, you're never gonna be as good as you can be. I don't care what string it was. I'm not worried about who the other team's got out there. I'm worried about YOU! And the game you played Friday was great, regardless of who LA had playing. Even if Jared is better (which I won't fully believe until I see y'all both play the same string in the same game and then see myself who is better), you're still not as awful as everybody, including you, makes you sound. You don't stink, you're not the D's 12th man, and we might still have a repeat of the last two years, but that has nothing to do with you. You're not the only one out there. There are 10 other guys out there that have just as much to do as you do. All you have to do is get it all started -- that's it! Just do that Josh, and you don't have to worry about what happens after that 'cause it's not in you're hands -- literally! Okay?! And, I'm guessing Popcorn, you do have a QB -- you have two actually. Josh and Jared are both valuable to the team. I will have to agree with you on Josh's ability to get better with time, though. He needs to continue to practice as much as he can, because there is nothing better to have than experience. Right now though, Josh doesn't really have as much as he probably needs. On the flip side, Jared is newer to this team than Josh is, and doesn't have the experience with this team that Josh has. Look at it how you want, but that's the way I see it. And another thing, this has nothing to do with me not wanting to listen to Josh whine. I do that all the time anyway (Just kidding!). Josh hardly ever talks to me anymore for some reason, but I hope he knows that whatever it's about, he always can. I'm his biggest fan even when nobody else cares, whether he likes it or not! I know he doesn't but still....whatever. I'm lookin for him to get to play more this week against DeKalb because we're gonna stomp 'em so bad our freshmen will be playing! Wishful thinking. But I do seriously think we're gonna win, and by a pretty good amount too. "Welcome to the Jungle" -- too bad you won't be leaving the same way you came in! CCHS Homecoming 2004, this Friday. GO LIONS!
  10. Let's just put it this way: With the QB issue, Jared can run, but not throw. Josh can throw, but not run. So either way you look at it, they each have their own pros and cons. Still though, I think Josh should play QB, because Jared is needed more, and does better, in other positions. GO LIONS!
  11. Well well Josh, you figured me out. I knew you already had, but I didn't want to say anything. If you're talking about the last post I put on the LA vs. CC topic, I didn't make y'all sound desperate, so I don't know what you're talking about there. And if you didn't notice, the majority of the post was about you and how good you did Friday. The only things about Jared in the whole post were "Jared started in his place" and "Jared, Ricky, etc. all played a great game." There was nothing about Jared being better than you or anything to that effect. Like I said before, "Halftime score, before Josh, 41-0. Final score, after Josh played, 49-22. What's that tell you?" I don't know whose mom that is either, but I don't think Jared should start as QB the rest of the year. He might be a better athlete than Josh, but not a better QB. If Josh will play like he did the second half of the LA game in all of the games we have left, we'll really be doing good. But it's up to him how he plays, not me, so I can't really say anything there. As for DeKalb this week, I'd say we have this one in the bag. Hopefully, anyway. I expect it to be a game a lot like the one against Jackson Co. Maybe even better! And since it's Homecoming, there'll be an extra element of the guys' wanting to win. So I'm saying Cannon Co. all the way. Good luck to all the players and coaches. GO LIONS!
  12. LA over Cannon Co. 49-22. Cannon Co. over Jackson Co. 34-6. LA over Jackson Co......You do the math.
  13. Well, I guess Lfreak summed it all up. 22-49 LA. Oh well, most people never thought we'd make it that far. The first half was pretty rough, though. Lots of our players were out for various reasons. Our starting QB, Josh Lance, didn't get to start because of an injury he sustained last week (and he was ticked!), even though I knew he could have made it anyway. He didn't get to play hardly any in the first half at all. He did get to play a lot of the second half, though, and he was awesome. I guess it finally hit him that if he didn't straighten up and start playing good ball, that, yes, he could easily be replaced by Jared Tarawa, who started in his place last night. I think he realized that if he didn't get calmed down and start giving it his best, he might not get to play at all. And that would kill him not to be able to play. It was more of a wake up call than anything, I guess. Maybe it was meant-to-be for him to get hurt last week, so that not getting to start would give him time to think. But that's just my opinion and he knows why. Does that make any sense? I don't know. But basically, I think in a way it was better that he didn't start. Then again though, if he had started and played as good the first half as he did the second half, we might have had a better chance. Get this: score at halftime was 41-0, before Josh. Final score was 49-22, after Josh played. What's that tell you? Anyway, that's enough about Josh. He hates me talking about him so much, so I'll stop. The rest of the Lions did good, too. cantstopthedefense, you rocked! Also, Jared, Ricky, Donnie, Josh H., Jiles, and everybody else were great, too. I do have to give credit to LA though. They are a very strong team -- especially with Colson(m) and Cates. Does Cates play basketball, too? The game was also momentarily delayed because one of our cheerleaders fell from a basket-toss and had to be taken away by ambulance. It more or less just knocked the wind out of her and somewhat triggered her asthma, but she's gonna be OK. Well, that's about all I've got right now. See y'all next week when we take on our arch rivals DeKalb Co. on our Homecoming night. I see another win in the future! Good luck to all the CCHS guys. Go LIONS!
  14. Well I'm off to the game. I'll tell you all about it later. Hopefully there'll be more to tell than "it was over in the first quarter." Good luck to everyone, especially Cannon County and a special shout-out to #19, #50, #34, #2, #84, #20, and basically everybody else on the Lions team. GO LIONS!
  15. Well, isn't this all very touching. Oh well. I'm not complaining. It's about time somebody told a Cannon Countian that they could actually make something of theirself besides a hillbilly redneck. Ha ha. Anyway, we're not really getting on here to "talk smack" about how great we are and how bad we're gonna stomp everybody. And we're not blaming our poor athletic abilities on our size or budget. We're just so crazy about wondering what it would be like to win a game every now and then, that we just like to get on here and brag a little bit sometimes -- even if it's not really about anything. Most of you other schools (LA included) get the chance to say "Yeah, look at us we won another game." Cannon County doesn't get to do that too often. So any opportunity we get just to believe we can win, which we can, we take. I know it's not anybody else's fault that we don't do so great but ours, so I'm not complaining. I just hate hearing everybody talk about how great they are, then turning around and putting us down because we have confidence that someday we might actually have a winning season. But until then, good luck to the Lions tomorrow. CCHS rocks!
  16. No kidding Josh, about LA (well, actually about every school) being twice as big as us. And the Ricky thing -- HILARIOUS! * For those who don't know our team -- we're not trying to sound racist or anything. Ricky's from Hawaii. Just a little bit of helpful info. Go LIONS!
  17. Josh, I knew you were on here somewhere. What is MyTeBEe supposed to mean? Anyway, I didn't mean "show off" in the way you think I did. I meant that you're really proud that you're getting the chance to be starting QB and you're only a sophomore. How many other starting QBs out there are sophomores? Not all that many. So I don't think your exactly showing off, its just that you're excited, and that combined with your nervousness sometimes messes with your head, and makes you mess up on the field. Get it? Maybe you do. And maybe you'll think that's accurate. But we (well, most of us that are actually willing to admit it) are really proud of you too. I know I am anyway. What about all that other good stuff I wrote about you, though? You didn't say anything about that. Josh, you have the potential to be an AWESOME quarterback, and I know that by the time you're a senior, you'll be one of the best in our area. Why? Because you'll have had the most experience. Anyway, I hope you're feeling better and are fully able to play Friday. I'm guessing you probably know who I am by now, but I really don't care. It's OK with me. And you might not like me talking about you all the time, either, but hey, you make an interesting topic. Lead us to another win, Josh. You can do it! Good luck to all the Lions Friday. Go CCHS!
  18. OK, could we get back to the game predictions please? I'm still waiting on cantstopthedefense or byteme to put in their latest 2 cents. Where are you guys?
  19. cantstopthedefense and byteme -- where are you. I need help defending us! GO LIONS!
  20. This game's equation: Cannon Co. beats Jackson Co. 34-6, Portland beats Cannon Co. 55-0. 'Nuff said.
  21. Ok, let's get off Smith County, shall we? Back to Cannon Co. and LA. Yeah Josh does seem pretty hurt. I hope he gets up to at least playing quality by Friday -- actually earlier than that so he can practice -- but at least by Friday. If Jared had to go in as QB, I know it would really bother Josh that he couldn't be out there 'cause he loves being the starting QB. But on the flip side, Josh is really enjoying all the attention he's getting over this whole thing, so I don't know. And you're right about him needing to calm down when he's playing. I personally think the mistakes he makes are a combination of him being scared that he'll mess up and get replaced by Jared, and of him trying to show off a little because he's only a sophomore and he's already the starting QB. That's just Josh. That's his personality. Anyway, I do hope the Lions get a good lead from the beginning and then take it all the way! cantstopthedefense, I'll make you a deal: you tell me who you are, then based on that I'll see if I want you to know who I am. How 'bout that? If you don't want to do that, will you please at least tell me how you're associated with Cannon Co? Are you a player, coach, parent, student,.......what? Don't lie. And do you have any idea who byteme is?
  22. Any particular reason you're starting this 3 weeks early? By the way, who are you?
  23. Yeah, I guess you beat me to it, cantstopthedefense. But at least somebody started something about us. Who are you? Well, naturally, I'm for Cannon Co. all the way. Didn't get to see the game Thursday, but the score (55-0) pretty much sums it all up -- we didn't do so hot. But I think if they get their heads on straight and concentrate on what they're doing, they might have a better chance of winning -- or at least keeping it pretty close. I would LOVE to see the Lions win again. They need another good win. If not this week, then definitely next week against DeKalb on our homecoming night. Let's not get too ahead, though. So my hope is that it will be a fairly close game, but that Cannon will eventually pull it out in the end. Good luck to the whole team, especially the QB, Josh Lance, and to Coach Nickerson. GO LIONS!
  24. Yep that score's final: Portland - 55 Cannon Co. - 0. Better luck next time...I hope. I don't know about Portland's QB, but I do know our QB, Josh Lance, got hurt at the very end of the game. He had to be taken off by ambulance, and then spent some time last night in the hospital. I know he has a bruised lung, and possibly some cracked ribs, but that's about it. Josh, I sure hope you're better by next Friday and hope you're feeling alright now. Love ya!
