While nothing outside of the rules in any way, the transfer situation in Girls Basketball in Rutherford has heated up. Riverdale picks up a very good post player from Siegel. This is the second player in this class that transferred and went to another school since the Middle School transition. The other player went to Oakland which also was not outside the rules. Both players will lose no playing time. The floodgates are opening all over the State with loopholes all over the system. This likely will not change and is doing what the rules meant for it to do all over the State. As happens, this too will pass.
whoa, would you be referring to Shelby Davenport. If so this is huge Riverdale probably is a lock to win the district and region again if thats the case. Granted they were favored anyway

AH! Buckhorn, why? As for the game we started a little sluggish. Scored early on a TD pass by the kid with a funny throwing motion (had a second TD pass go through the hands of the receiver). Once we got settled in we really controlled the rest of the game. I thought we saw some kids growing up and stepping up. I think there a certian wow factor for a kid when their on the edge and have to make the play instead of chearing somebody that just made the play. Octavious did not play much, he was in the stands shaking hands, kissing babies and selling popcorn. After the game I did try to encourage him to hang in there, he will get his chance. Overall I would give us a B-. Saw a lot of good stuff, but a lot of room for improvement. JMO!
Final Score BHS 21 Buckhorn 7:popcorneater:
We are Blackman! JMO!
Who is Octavious?

its funny that we are having this conversation. I think this is what gets a lot of teams beat, they try to prove that they are more athletic than a particular opponent. like someone said being more athletic doesnt win you titles teams need to realize who they are. Like I said I dont think Hampton is nearly as athletic as Lake county. the key in my opinion for hampton is not to be more athletic than LC but instead they need to outscheme and out execute them. Just my opinion I didnt see PC at all and not enough of middleton to make an analysis of this game
-
I as a CSAS fan figured Hampton would beat summertown I was honestly preparing myself to see US play Hampton. not a knock on Hampton they may win the whole thing(I dont think they will) but they are not as athletic as Lake County.
-
Do you wanna go back and watch the video stream? Idk what you saw but what I saw was a train wreck!
I hope you arent referring to the Lake Co/CSAS game but that was a train wreck. that was two extremely athletic teams battiling out down to the wire. Dont think because you blew out Summertown you aree the cream of the crop oin this tournament. you may very will this game and the whole tournament and if you do I will come on here and congratulate you but I dont see how Hampton wins this game unless LC goes cold from the field
-
Not sure I know what your talking about. CSAS has never played Hampton.
On top of the fact that they dont have tournaments at team camp. I think some people say stuff just to make themselves feel better
-
My point is that their first two games (if they upset the first one) would be against the best two teams in the state. Granted, none of them are easy at this level.
I do hate to see Bearden & Siegel bracketed together......but that's how the ball drops sometimes.
not trying to argue but what makes you say Bearden and Siegel are the two best teams in the state? Im sure the Memphis people would argue with you and I cant say that I would blame them
-
well put. GC. its the state tournament its not supposed to be easy. If it were that would mean you are really really good or the field is really bad

I may be in the minority here but.... Oh well. I think all of the whining and bickering by parentsfrom Both schools is getting out of hand. These are kids and they are having fun. As long as no one makes any personal attacks then there is nothing wrong with making t-shirts taking jabs at other schools. Im willing to bet you the kids at Blackman arent crying about those solidarity T-shirts. It seems to me the problem here is the parents from both schools not the kids. Just a few thoughts from a neutral poster

Whiteside inadvertantly pked Tyisha in the eye Tyisha was carried out on a stretcher with a concussion Whiteside has a dislocated finger
-
The only senior CSAS lost never touched the floor last year, but it doesnt matter because either Hampton or Perry COunty will win according to some people on here
-
science hill will be your AAA champs
After Watching them play yesterday I dont see them beating Memphis Central and Riverdale in back to back days, I really dont see them beating Memphis Central tonight
-
Colombia Academy or Forrest were NEVER as good as any team remaining.
I agree Forrest plays in a terrible district and never should have been mentioned anywhere near the top 10

Cant leave out Riverdale freshman ALexa Middleton not sure of her stats but she starts and averages double figures. Word on the street she has already been offered a schollie by NC State. Micah Norris at Blackman is another who will make some noise in the future. There's also two more From Rutherford County that didnt make it to the murphy Center Shelby Davenport at Siegel and Emily Eubanks at Oakland

After attending todays AA and AAA games in Murfreesboro, I've come away with the conclusion that this might be the best bunch of Freshman players that I've seen in Murfreesboro at the same time playing on the biggest stage. These Freshman were extremely impressive and showed tons of poise considering they were playing in the state tournaments. Some of these Freshman were also the difference makers in their game today. I'll throw out a list of the Freshman that impressed me today. Most of these girls will be big time players by their Senior seasons. Give thoughts and opinions. (Keep in mind this is only from the AA,AAA games today)
- Alisa Guariola, #23, McMinn Central
- Loren Cagle, #3, David Lipscomb
- Abby Sissom, #5, Cannon Co.
- Tianna Carter, #10, Science Hill
- Tia Wooten, #22, Memphis Central
All 5 of these players will be big time players by their Senior season. To be contributing to their teams like they were today as Freshman in a state tournament game was extremely impressive.

well so much for that bold prediction
-
CSAS is not the #1 team in the state
-
Let me start by saying I know that numbers dont tell the whole story and the game is played on a hardwood floor not on paper but: here is a side by side comparison of the two teams
Points per game
FCS 58 CSAS 70
Points allowed per game
FCS 48 CSAS 49
Common opponent (Clay county)
FCS lost 2 out of 3 CSAS defeated Clay by double digits( CSAS had also played another game earlier in that same day
Strength of Schedule( according to coacht)
FCS 54 CSAS 20
With that being said I believe FCS will come to play and will put up a fight in the first quarter and a half but CSAS will not overlook them and will pull away and win 68-50

My point about Bradley losing this Saturday was based on history. Bradley's regular season record usually is impressive, but they always seem to fail at the substate level. I've seen much better Bradley teams than the one they have this year, only to see them fold like a cheap tent by the substate game. I can't even recall the last time Bradley went to Murfreesboro.
Not saying Bradley "can't" win Saturday, I just think they "won't" win.
Im going to say that both Blackman and Riverdale will win tomorrow. Not trying to be funny but Riverdale may win by 50

Van Buren will lose one player. #30 was the only senior on the team. They will miss his ballhandling but hopefully someone steps up and fills the spot. I kinda wondered too why we didn't run any screens because CSAS was defending us so far away from the goal. Also why we waited to 3 minutes in the game to drive deep and dish to the open man under the goal. Maybe next year will be our year. I think we might do better if we go into the tournament as a lower seed and pull a few upsets. We can't win it when we have the number 1 seed. Kinda like the Indianopolis Colts!!!
a few years back when you were in district 9A you had a couple of kids that were really impressive. did they go to play anywhere in college
-
Congrats to LV and CSAS. Good season boys!
CSAS by 8 over LV next. I'm no real B-Ball guy but CSAS just looks a little better to me.
Van Buren played a great season this year too.
We are just a little closer to FOOTBALL!
Go Eagles!
I know at this point anything can happen and regular season means nothing but seeing that Lookout Valley has lost to some teams CSAS beat by 20 and 30 points Im going to say CSAS wins by 25

Well......I don't mean to be ugly, but I think I've discovered a group of fans possibly more obnoxious than U.T. Fans! And that's a tough act to follow!!
Unfortunately last night, I was sitting around a group of Riverdale Fans and I've got to say, pretty ugly things were being said. I think it does not speak well of us when we forget that these are all our little girls, or someone else's little girls out there participating in an athletic event and giving their all. No more. No less.
Sure it's exciting and sure everyone wants their team to win and their girls or their daughter to do well. But let's not loose track of the fact that these are each and everyone, some Mom's or Dad's little girl. And that mom or dad could be sitting behind you. So why not be courteous and respectful to the girls? After all, we all know that no matter which team loses, it will be because of poor officiating!!
Riverdale has a good team. There's not doubt. Blackman likewise has a good team. Talent wise, I'm not sure there is a lot of difference although I would give Blackman a slight edge. Blackman has at least 3 to 4 players that if they go off, can control the outcome. I don't think Riverdale goes much deeper than 2 players with game impacting skills. I think the difference in this game is going to be Coaching. The Coach that schemes this game the best AND is able to get his players to effect that scheme will win.
Anyway, it has been a great season for us. I'm looking forward to the game Wednesday. I think on the High School level, this game will be as good as it gets. Both teams are guaranteed a spot in the State Tournament and we should ALL be proud of that! So, let's have at it, be nice, and may the best team win.
So....that means Blackman Wins!!!!!!!! Good luck to both teams.
GO BLAZE!!!!!!!!
I dont know if I would say that Blackman has better talent considering that Riverdale has 1 D1 signee and 3 if not 4 D1 prospects in their starting lineup(1 being a miss basketball finalist). Dont get me wrong, Blackman is a really good to who I think will make it to the state tournament, but I still dont think they are better than Riverdale

riverdale up 38-23 at the half. Lawrence Co has turned the ball over almost 20 times in the first half

Technically I dont think any of Riverdale's key contributers from last year were considered transfers except for 1 and she was a jr i believe.
