  1. Don't overlook Brentwood Rage.
  2. I played against them three times this year and lost all three. (What team could I play for?) Any ways they had a good little team. They were held together in the midfield by Evan Forrester who had an outstanding season. John Durham and Charles McFadden were two incredibly fast forwards who were also outstanding this year. Their defense was a bit lacking at times due to injuries and lack of cohesion but it worked. Terry Baggot played awesome back there and it never hurts to have a grade a keeper in Kravitz. The only suggestion I could make to them is to take care of their Freshman hotheads. They aren't as could as they think they are and need to realize that if Hume-Fogg is going to repeat next year. Well done Hume-Fogg on an excellent season and good luck next year.
  3. Dude redbarron it was a joke man. I play with cal, xander, and jeff.
  4. I'm going to have to agree with Finhead. I played with J.K. for eight years and the kid is incredible. When he was 12 he could juggle to 1000. Every practice he simply amazed everyone. One time, for those of you who knew who the cobras were, he split Jameson Alford and Jeff Boyton and made them run into each other at practice. Anyone who can make those two caliber of players run into each other is a balla.
  5. The MLK Royals soccer team playes David Lipscomb tomorrow at 5:30. I know last year they had improved drastically and there was some really bad blood between the teams. However, this year I haven't heard much about them, and the only thing I know is that they beat DCA 2-0. Has anyone played them and know what caliber they are playing at this year? Thanks.
  6. Ezell Harding has a great goalie in Randy Schlappi, he has incredible hands. They lost their best midfielder and forward last year, but they have a really pesky forward up front who dives like no other. Give him a shove for me. We lost to them twice last year when we outshot them 15-2 in the first game and 16-4 the second game in the district tournament. If you go to FRA you shouldn't even worry about being challenged in the district this year. Except maybe MLK......
  7. zizou, i wasn't taking it to heart, it's just that I've played soccer for high school for 4 years and never have I actually seen a three ref game. You said that only the big games get the three ref system. Now I go to MLK and we're not a very big soccer powerhouse, but I've been to game such as FRA and MBA, and MBA and McCallie, the whole district tournament for my district and for MBA's. Now those are supposed to be "big" games correct? Why isn't there a little more effort to try and at least have the district games with a three man system? Just curious.
  8. Correct me if I am wrong (you can look two posts up) but I thought that was exactly what I said. My question was; Should they TRY and find a way to get three refs on the field in order for the game to be safer? Read the whole post before you say something.
  9. TSSAA runs that two center format that doesn't seem to quite work. Club refs have a little less responsibility because of the linesmen. I know that there really aren't that many TSSAA refs so it makes it difficult to run a three man system, but they probably should try and find a way to do that. In some cases where there are a lot of football players trying to stay in shape, it would benefit all the actual soccer players to have three refs. With only two refs running the field a lot of calls are missed in the middle of the field. I'm not whining or anything like that, I'm just trying to get a discussion started. Should TSSAA try and run a three ref system?
  10. From watching the game I would have to say I was more impressed with Kemp than Lake. Kemp was putting everything through the hoop tonight. I guess he is kinda streaky with some good night and some other ok nights. Overall it was a great game and was hard fought by both teams. Good luck Bolivar in your quest for the gold ball. Way to go Royals!
  11. Kemp was dropping everything tonight. Our post players didn't contest alot of the shots he put up. It was kind of frustrating to watch, but Lee did hold his own. They had a taller guy guarding him so he had a little trouble getting around him, but he still created most of the opportunities for us. Everything Kemp was throwing up fell tonight. We missed so many wide open shots from inside the paint it killed us.
  12. The Royal's season came to an end today with a 39-36 overtime loss to Bolivar. The game was incredible. Plain and simple. The whole first half was back and forth with the lead changing 3 or 4 times. The second half Bolivar seemed to have pulled away and finished MLK, but the Royals had enough in them for one more push. Trailing by 9 points at one point the renound defense took over. They cut the lead to 6 with well under a minute to play. Then senior guard Virgil Donaldson hit a three that only went in with a prayer to cut the lead to three with 17 seconds left. Instead of fouling ( MLK only had 4 team fouls) MLK put the full court press on Bolivar and forced a turnover with 7 seconds left. Johnny Lee did not want to go home because he hit a three at the buzzer to send it to overtime. Momentum was clearly on our side, but the ball and rim were not. In overtime the iron proved to be unkind, as it had all game, and the Royals suffered defeat by not getting the shot off in time. Let me be the first to say that I am very proud of how my Royals played this season. Bolivar is an excellent squad that we gave a run for their money. Next year will be our year. Way to go Royals. One last time: GOOOOOOOOOO MMIIGGHHTTYY RROOOOYYAALLLSSS!!!!
  13. Fulton's parent section was quiet. I think the Royal's fans drowned anything they had to say out.
  14. To get back on the topic, I acknowledged that Bolivar and Portland were two completely different teams. The point was that Brian Lake will not have an easy time shooting over MLK. The Royals defense won't let just one or two players beat them. The bring out the true meaning in "no I in team". I'm not saying that Bolivar is going to get crushed at all. If you looked at my predictions I felt that MLK would win in the last few seconds. The whole Bolivar team needs to play a smart game of teamwork to win the game. They won't roll through MLK like some of you say they will. MLK needs to bring their A game, but Bolivar needs to bring their's as well. Above anything else, the game will be an excellent showcase of high school basketball. Everyone should just enjoy the ride. Good Luck Royals.
  15. MLK is only losing one senior. There are five or six players in the class of 2005. You gotta respect that. Making it to state and only graduating one senior.
