  1. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FARRAGUT ADMIRALS on their sixth consecutive trip to the State Tournament! If this does not prove that Tommy Pharr is the best high school baseball coach in the state, I don't know what would. This was definately a reloading year for the Admirals after graduating such a strong senior class last year. If I'm not mistaken, the normal starting line-up for Farragut was 4 seniors, 1 junior, with the rest being sophomores and freshmen. Coach Pharr has developed these young men into another state-contending team. Incredible! During the games, it's the players who got it done on the field when it counted. My guess is if you asked the seniors which of their four trips to the State Tournament was the most special, it would be this year, no matter the final outcome. Most importantly, win or lose, Farragut's coaching staff, players, and fans are a great example of sportmanship and class! Some other area teams could have learned a few lessons from them this year. Congratulatons again, and good luck at State!
  2. So it's possible that there could be a 5th Bearden-Farragut game??? If Farrgut gets by Halls, and Bearden beats Karns....I might have to go see that one.
  3. Congratulation on the regular season sweep of the Admirals. Was surprised to see the game was not even mentioned in the Knoxville News-Sentinel. Guess that makes it pretty evident that whoever covers high school sports for them now is certainly not from Knoxville. Beating Farragut is always a sweet moment as a Bulldog fan. (Doesn't happen very often except in basketball) Good luck, and keep focused. Need to finish 1 or 2 in the District tournament, or the season is over.
  4. How a few weeks can change things. With three games remaining, the Bulldogs have a excellent opportunity to finish the regular season at .500 and make the playoffs! The first winning season in several years is a possibility. Hats off to the players for continuing to battle each week! Don't take any of the last three teams for granted, continue to play hard, and let's see what happens. Go Dawgs!
  5. How 'bout those Bulldogs! Both teams fought hard. Congrats guys on the W!!!! HiwasseeVol...I might not be as bad at picking football as we thought...lol. Lucky guess on my part at best. Still a lot of football left in the '05 season....anything is possible.
  6. HiwasseeVol, You're right...I should probably stick to baseball. I remember the Karns - Bearden game last year...pouring rain, and Bearden's field was in horrible condition before the game started. Was not a fun night, but the Bulldogs did get a W. A win is a win....and yes, the Jets of Cumberland County have taken their lumps this year. The bottom line? It should be a hard-fought game. I'll stick to my 14-13 prediction. I do think Matt Reagan's leg will be a factor, whether it is an extra point or a field goal.
  7. The Beavers bring a 2-1 mark into this week 3 match-up with the Bulldogs. Both of the Karns victories came at the hands of teams with a .500 or less winning percentage. (A-E currently 2-2, Morristown East is 1-2) Sevier County handed them a 35-20 loss. Can the Beavers continue the momentum from their win over A-E? We will see. I'm sure the overtime loss last year to Bearden is not fondly remembered by Karns. Bearden played their best half of football against Farragut, scoring 17 points and playing excellent defense last Friday night. Did Farragut turn it up a notch in the second half, or did the Bulldogs simply run out of gas? Bearden needs a win in a big way. It's gut check time for the Bulldogs...this one is a must-win game. I'm gonna step out and say Bearden over Karns by a final score of 14-13. Any other predictions?????
  8. Bearden has improved from 2004. Let's look at the bright spots.... Offense thru 3 games: 2005: 21 points - 7 ppg average Matt Reagan 3/3 on PAT's! 2004: 6 points - 2 ppg average Defense thru 3 games: 2005: 57 points allowed 19 points per game average 2004: 96 points allowed 32 points per game average 2005 Record 1-2 2004 Record 0-3 Good enough to be Farragut????? On paper...no. But that's why we play the game. Go Bulldogs!
  9. Congratulations Farragut! Keep up the good work.
  10. If he is such a great coach, why did Bearden only have two seniors left at the end of the year? That's all I'm gonna say in this forum.
  11. Heritage eliminated Bearden 3-2. Although their record was much improved, the Bulldogs only managed to get one game further than last year when it counted...the District tournament.
  12. Now that Farragut and South Doyle have earned the right to represent District 4AAA in Region II, what teams were the biggest disappointment? Discuss.
  13. I was not able to attend either game, but it was quite interesting that there was not one mention of the game on this board after Bearden handed them their first district loss of the season Thursday night.
