  1. im sorry im just not impressed at all with maryville. they simply look like an average middle of the road team. if Farragut ends up losing it will be because they lost it, not that maryville beat them. and this officiating doesnt help at all. simply horrendus.

Come on now! Great job rebs.

    It comes down to coaching.

  2. I repeat. Farragut has simply been CHEATED out of this game. The corrupt zebras have not allowed Farragut to make any plays on offense in the 2nd half at all. Every time Farragut makes a play the refs snuff it out. This has kept Farragut's defense on the field the whole 2nd half and cause them to get tired. This flat out sucks ! If I were a Maryville fan I'd be embarrassed to have it just given to my team.

How is throwing 2 INt cheating? :thumb:

  3. Farragut one of the top Atheletic Programs in the State vs Maryville One of the top Football Programs in the State. I have to give the edge to Maryville. Maryville has one of the best coaches in the State and has something to prove. I just don't see Farragut taking it to the next level without a coaching change.

However I would love to be proved wrong!

    Good Luck Admirals. :popcorneater:

  4. Congratulations to the Bears on a good season thus far. I'm an alumni and former bear from way back in the late 70's. It did my heart good to see the Gallatin & Lebanon scores! I just wish Dupont was still around for ya'll to go whip up on ;) Keep up the good work and go get da Bears their first gold football.

We took care of Dupont all my 3 yr's in HS. Now the Bears was a diff story. We only lost 2 games my Senior yr and the spanking was by the Bears. I still want to hit Butch Hamby one more time. :thumb:

The Bears are my Dark horse to take state, Good Luck

SC has been beaten down over the last few weeks and has a few years to recover to play at this level .

  5. Maryville a better team or better coaching staff? Wish I could be there. I think the Reb fans have wanted this game for a while. We know what happens in the spring sports when the Rebs go against Farragut so you can't let them have the fall sports also Rebs.

I think Maryville wants this game more.

    Prove me wrong Admirals. :thumb:

  6. Maryville is the closest thing to a football machine that I have ever seen.

They don't always have the top skill players, but have a great coach and program. Do the rebs fans think the team can kwwp winning with the type of blowout they had against the #2 rated team in the state?

The folks in Rutherford Co say no east TN Tm can win the 6A or former 5A.

    Good Luck.

  7. Is this a rebuilding year for SC? Over the last 2 years I would have given them a big chance to beat the Wave. Two year's ago IMHO the were the best team in the county.

    :roflolk:

I see this game getting closer inpoints in the near future. SC is going to get better and will be the school of choice in the future. There area is going to contin to grow. Where as Gallatin is on the decline. If SC can get a few of the skill players Gallatin counts on out of the Blythe st area then the Wave will be in trouble.

  8. Until SC gets the size players a Riverdale or other power house teams have the Wing T is your chance to beat the big boys.

Lacking star skill players or mammoth offensive lines, some coaches have turned to the wing-T as their best bet for offensive survival, using the wing-T's many misdirection plays and angle blocking to frustrate and outwit larger teams.

But what is most curious about the wing-T, other than its constantly pulling and trapping linemen, is that the offense actually generates an emotional response. Fans often speak about the wing-T in terms of love or hate, words rarely attached to the slot-I, the pro set or even the latest rage, the Wildcat[*]

    From USA Today: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/preps/fo ... ball_N.htm

Although the pro-style passing game has become the favorite of most high school and college programs, the Wing-T has unwavering loyalty from a select group of high school coaches who are winning state championships and sending players to top college programs. An American Football Monthly survey of 2006 state champions revealed 16.8% of the respondents use the Wing-T as their base offense

  10. 27(Gallatin) 3(Station Camp)

Yep it's a little diff playing the big boy league! :!:

The problem is Coach Holly is trying to play like we are still in AAA(the old 3A),that won't work, abandon the wing-T and switch the offense to the spread, work on getting the DB's to stop looking at what the quarterback is doing and pay attention to the wr they are assigned to.

    Doesn't Riverdale run the Wing-T?

  11. East TN teams are always competitive, but rarely victorious against mid TN teams. So, you guys played a good game and lost. Get over it, cause Riverdale won and it's in the books.

    Husker don't forget 2009 Ooltewah vs Franklin W 19-3

Free as a bird I din't think the Farragut fans were argueing about losing to Riverdale. It was a great close game. Unlike the Frankl;in game,

  12. It's true the East Tennessee teams are competitve, which makes for exciting games! HOWEVER at the end of the day Middle Tennessee teams come out with the win, more than they do with the loss- therefore Middle Tennessee teams are a better/different caliber of football- Especially in Rutherford County where ther are always 3-4 Teams that could be most in the state and sometimes don't even make the playoffs- which will absolutely happen this year with the new classification in 6-A Riverdale, Oakland, Blackman, and Smyrna are all contenders to be considered excellent football teams that could be anyone on any given day, and only 2 will be guaranteed a birth to the playoffs- Which shows the dominance. Oakridge, Ootewah, and so on are good teams over the years yet they always fall short when looking at the overall picture.

Here is something to think about. Goodpasture has beat some of the largest programs in Middle TN. I think they have beat Ravenwood every time they have faced them. Take a look what little ole Alcoa has done to Goodpasture in the Championship game the last few years. This is the 1st year Alcoa beat Maryville. They play some tough football in the Knoxville area also with a slew of State Championship programs that could beat some of the 6A programs on a given night. Alcoa, Maryville, Austin East, Fulton, Knox Chatolic have all brought home State Championships in recent TN football history.

By County I would rank it by # of Championship cal teams over the last 5 years:

    1, Rutherford

    2, Blount

    3. Knox

    4. Williamson

  13. If you want to go off and pixelate me on a tiny-technicality, because I am trying to stay current. I'll rephrase it for you... "I only know 5A (AKA largest class) football".

All I am hearing, is a bunch of excuses why ya'll can't make it to state. The fact of the matter is, Farragut played Riverdale (in a good honest match-up) and lost. Middle TN stood strong once again. When ya'll finally win those types of games (and I do mean WIN, not make it close, nobody plays to make it close) then you can come talk to us down here.

I showed you the facts. That the east TN teams have been in the hunt for the gold ball and that their Semi finals game agaisnt the Rutherford Co teams was ususally the close game and better game prior to state championship game.

If thats not enough I showed you where 33% of the state champs ver the last 19 years came from E TN area. Counting Germantown it's 40% of the time Middle did not win 5A.

    What don't U get?

The Brentwood/Franklin area teams have showed the are tops also but give the Oak Ridge, Ooltewah, Beardens, Farragut, Sevier Co, and other top teams ovewr the last 10 years their due. However I do think the future power will be Maryville, Ooltewah etc. Farragut will be on the decline IMHO over the next 5 years, To many great private schools, rezoning and new public schools sucking their talent base away

BTW-This weeks AP Top 10 have half the top teams are E.TN .

I hate to tell you but the best team may be little Alcoa ask #5 Maryville! :hungry:

  14. Would somebody please tell me the last time east Tn was represented in the state final game. I'm talking 6A, I do not know anything about the smaller divisions. And until a east TN breaks the barrier that is Rutherford County, I am going to call that end of the state over-rated...

To answer your question - NEVER. A team from East TN has never won a 6A State Championship and the EAST has never been represented in the state final game.

When is the last time a team from Rutherford County won a 6A State Championship? NEVER. This is 6A's first year.

    Thank U. U R a Winner! :thumb:

  15. Would somebody please tell me the last time east Tn was represented in the state final game. team when it counts...

It does matter if you get beat by 3 or 30. Did you ever play?

2005 Oak Ridge lost to Ravenwood in a close game.

These teams won the Highest Division in TN 5A prior to this year.

    2003 Germantown won state

    2000 Red Bank Class 5A (15-0) 27-7

    1999 Sevier County Class 5A

INHO-The bracket system is the only reason Williamson County teams have had the chance to make to the Championship game over the last 6 years.

Years ago TSSAA had the same problem in soccer. The 2 best teams were in the same region and only one had the chance to go to state. Bearden/Farragut When they changed the rules both teams had the chance to make to state and win. Prior to that Farragut would loose a close one and Bearden would go on to win state and most years domonate. Yes Williamson Co had great teams also.

IMHO-The playoffs in football should have been on a draw when it came down to the semi's or flip flopped every other year.

  16. You can call it whatever you want to call it. But 3 points or 30 points is still a loss. Would somebody please tell me the last time east Tn was represented in the state final game. I'm talking 6A, I do not know anything about the smaller divisions. And until a east TN breaks the barrier that is Rutherford County, I am going to call that end of the state over-rated. Maybe Maryville or Ooltewah will be your shining stars, but we will see how the square up against Blackman/ Riverdale/ and Oakland when Thanksgiving rolls around... Go ahead and beat a Middle TN team when it counts...

Do U know TN football? This is the 1st year for 6A :thumb:

    2004 Riverdale Champions

    Fri Nov. 26 Oak Ridge W 42-28

    Sat Dec. 4 Franklin N Class 5A CShip W 35-7

Each time the game against the East TN Reps was the real game for the Championship. The boys from the other side was not a contest. The brackets are the only thing that got the Franklins, Indy and other teams to the Championship game.

  17. This game was another example of the fact that East Tennessee is over-rated. Every year some team (like Farragut, Sullivan South, and whoever else ya'll have up there) comes down to Middle TN and understands why you would never make it down in this world. There is a reason that we never see a West or East TN team playing in state, and it because the road goes through Williamson & Rutherford County. That is why state will always be comprised of Brentwood, Franklin, Oakland, Smryna, Riverdale, and Independence.

Ya cause Lord knows Maryville, Alcoa, Fulton, and Catholic have won state recently. What are you thinking?!?!

What a stupid statement by huskergymnast33! Some of the best games/closest games have been between the teams from Rutherford and the east TN rep (Oolteawah, Bearden, OR) instead of the game against the west rep.

I am a middle TN native. However, I have lived in East TN for 8 years. Since moving back to Middle TN over the last 4 years, I would rate the football I saw played at the higest level in East TN better than Middle over all.

However none of the teams could get past the Rutherford Co Teams. So I would say in TN's Highest football diviision the Rutherford Co teams are tops but the teams around Knox Co rule the rest.

Of course D-II teams say they are the best according to records against top D-1. Then again little Alcoa spanked McCallie when they were one of the top teams in D-1. :thumb:

So a general Statement like huskergymnast33 is crazy.

    Example: 2007 Playoffs

    Fri Nov. 30 #3 Bearden Class 5A Semis W 17-14

Sat Dec. 8 #11 Independence TSSAA 5A State Finals 7PM at MT Floyd Stadium W 46-20

Which game was the a real game. Looks like Indy wasn't even a game. Bearden gave the 2 X Champs a game.

    2006

    Fri Nov. 24 Ooltewah 5A Semifinals W 28-25

Sat Dec. 2 Ravenwood N 5A State Finals 7PM at MT Floyd Stadium W 35-14

    See a trend!

2005 Oakridge in the Championship game

    Fri Nov. 25 Riverdale W 17-0

    Sat Dec. 3 Ravenwood N 5A Cship 7PM L 7-14

  18. Ya cause Lord knows Maryville, Alcoa, Fulton, and Catholic have won state recently. What are you thinking?!?!

This is the Class AAA (5A & 6A Playoff Teams) part of the board. I don't think the above teams have won any gold balls in this classification? :roflol:

It would be a little hard for them to have a Gold ball in 6A since this is the 1st year they have had 6A. :roflol:
