2. Trophyhunter, one other thing your RIGHT! With our school size we should be three deep in every Weight Class. But at Farragut if a kid doesn't start they quit. It is something we need to work on but I don't know if we can change it.

Also Chad Blakenship is a great Wrestler. He was injured all of last year and had to hve an opperation this Summer. I feel he can be a Medialist.

He Gave our 152 State Finalist all he wanted at the Beginning of the Season prior to his injury.

  3. He's good.  He is already at 119.

Farragut will be good this year.  If I was from there, I probably wouldn't say anything to put us down.  You have one of the largest schools in the state to draw wrestlers from.  You should be good.  I think you should focus on the apparent 7 possible state medalists you have coming back this year instead of making fun of us.  You say you have 2 returning state finalists, which is true, and 5 more possible medalists.  Greenback, apparently in your eyes, has no one who is a possible contender, even though you guys only won six matches against us last year.  3 of those guys who won were seniors.  So, you have 3 guys returning that have beaten someone from greenback in a dual meet.  I think farragut has 4 guys who may medal at state, Dix, Knox, Mountain, and Reveiz.  Layton could compete for a region title, but he's never even went to state, so he could possibly be included.  There, I said something nice.  So lets try to get along on here and not dog each other.

I was on the road coming back from IN when I found out you beat Farragut in the Duals. I was told that your fans were going crazy and your Crowd in the gym made it tuff place to wrestle. :D I think that was great. It was truly David taking out the locale Big Guy! :P

You have some really good and STRONG kids. Your Defeat of Farragut shows why the Sport is great. The little guy can overcome size with heart. thumb

The big reason for the defeat was all our injuries and after that match we new if we good get everyone back by KIL and Region that we would dominate and we were right.

With The new realignment I wish Greenback the best and to whip the Blount County Teams. :D Do you have your Schedule yet? If so please Post!

I was told that it's a tuff place to play football at also!

    Good Luck Nation!

  4. I never really enjoyed wrestling Kevin Johnson from Chatt. Central in the early '90s.  His brother, Ricky, was no slouch either.  Personally, I think their mom would just throw some raw meat down on the floor at dinner time and whoever got the most won.

I've heard guys talk about and grew up watching the fear Lionel Langford from Cleveland could put into your heart back in the late '80s.  He won most matches before he set foot on the mat.  He had a really good stare-down.  Looked right into your soul.

Ricky, Is a great guy. He was my son's Sunday School Teacher in the Mid 90's and involved with youth wrestling in the Harrison, TN area. thumb

  5. Everybody who's counting Bradley out should put their names on a post here.  I want to look them up in February.

Seems like that talk always starts about now, which is ironic since nobody's even had practice yet.  I have a whole notebook of quotes that I use off of here.

One of them is from last year:

"Ty Cody always finds a way to lose at the state tournament."

If we could will things into reality by simply putting  words on paper, we'd all be glued to these message boards.

Yeah, Coach and Turner was overrated!

  6. I wouldn't go so far as saying Gessler is overrated. He may not be up to the level of the wrestlers mentioned with him, but he is still a 3x State Medalist. Yes Borneman beat Max both times they met last year by pin. Max was ahead in both matches when making a mistake and getting put to his back. No credit taken from Borneman he is a good wrestler no doubt, but I wouldn't run down Gessler just let. What weight is Borneman going this year? I have heard that Max will 160. OH and rigger I know Turner placed 2nd and had a great state tournament, but check out his losses and see if one was to Gessler @ Father Ryan by pin in the 1st period?

    825392373

Yes, and Turner Beat BorneMan and then Borneman Pinned Gessler at State. Turner did not lose another match(Except the Final) after he lost to Gessler at Father Ryan. He had only been out for the team for 2 weeks and had not wrestled in over 2 years and his shoulder had a seperation. As you said in your post about Gessler, Turner made the same kind of mistake and got put on his back.

All the matches he lost was in his first 2 weeks back in the sport from a back disease the year before.

He wanted Gessler in the finals because Ty is a friend of his. Gessler caught Turner at the right time. Turner learned from his mistakes and never was pinned again.

Looks like Gessler can't say the same. He lost to Borneman at the begining and the end of the season by Pinns. Gessler has been around the sport for a long time and I know he is good. Just wanted to reply for the crap from the Gessler camp last year at State. Good luck to Gessler.

  7. Resha looked like a 152 wretling 119.  McTorry was not that mean he just played around until he got bored, then pinned or teched you.  Nelson was scarry, Didn't he bite someone during his region tournement his sophomre year.

Any wrestler wearing a face mask was scarry.

Last years 152 State Finalist (Chad Turner) from Farragut is the cousin of the Resha's. Small world. He wrestled aggressive.

  8. Well all that matters is football this Friday night!  And your kids have something to prove....with a school tht has that many kids, you should have been AWESOME the last few years in football.  See what you can do this Friday!

Good luck to both teams, but I gotta pull for my hometown Trojans!

    825391172

True, but when that's all you have you use it. I love HS Football and it has been very frustrating to watch the FHS teams over the last 4 years have a ton of talent on the field and not win. I feel it's been the Coaching. I don't have a dog in the fight but when you have played and been around football most of your life, it's sad to see young men you know play their hearts out and not win. And from experiance you know it's got to be the coaching.

  9. A few names immediately pop in my head

Kellen Holliman, Justin Knox, Nick Marable, Nic Bundy, Kenny Meredith, Ben Hazelett, Josh Bauke, Cody Cleveland, Bond Davis, and Max Gessler.

    825391222

Gessler is over rated, Luke Borneman owned him last year. His only hope is if Luke goes to another weight class. Nic Bundy is a class act.

  10. We have all mentioned very good wrestlers, but lets look at what teams will be pound for pound the strongest.

    Franklin

    2 Ortiz Brothers

    2 Felix Brothers

    2 Davis Brothers

    2 Konz Brothers

    1 Heacock

With these 9 kids in the lineup you have to give the advantage to Franklin in most dual matches.

 This is why Wrestling is great Family Sport. The Great Father Ryan Teams always had brothers and Cousins reloading the team. Looks like Franklin is doing the same. We will have the Reviez Brothers and 2 freshmen who's briothers were Seniors last year. But my hat off to Franklin. The Family tradition of this sport lives on well with the Rebels. thumb

  11. We have a few!

    Scott Dix-140 range

    Justin Knox-170 range

And a second year wrestler who we feel can make an impact this year

Nick Reveiz(190 range), son of former UT and Pro kicker Fuad Reveiz.

He's strong, quick and very aggressive. He came in second in the Region with only about 3 weeks of wrestling under his belt.

It's going to be a fun year.
