  1. McCallie 8

    Baylor 0

Ryan Moore tossed a two hitter and struck out 12.He also hit a home run.

Zane Stone started for Baylor and was showing pinpoint control for the first two or three innnings. He looked really good.McCallie got to him after that and the other pitchers just couldn't get anything going.

Where is Ryan Moore going to Collage and is he going to play Collage Ball. I enjoyed watching him in baseball and football when I lived in the Harrison area.

  2. Who will win the AA ship?

    Obviously im goin with grundy!

Those Grundy Boys will be scared to death when they leave the Mountain! They want know what to do when the show up in the big city. People down on the bluff have more than one tooth in their head. Just joking! Good Luck Grundy Co.

  3. Take a look at what Cambellsville Univ is doing in KY. Next year will be their start up. Frankie James has the support of the Univ and sees it as a Win , Win situation for his School. He's bringing in kids in from as far away as Utah. My son is waiting for his Scholarship Offer. Beleave me he would rather be in Nashville than rural KY. :D Ha I think having a program in Nashville would bring in young men from east and west TN and through out the South.

  4. wildcat1,

When your 40 you will be glad that you didn't damage yourself any further. It's a tuff sport and alott of it, has to do with luck and not getting injured. Good luck with your future.

There are plenty of us older men who wished we would have held back and not tore are bodies up in our youth. We feel our glory every morning when we wake up in pain.

  5. aparently you guys did not watch the gessler-cody match were it was 7 - 5 with 7 seconds left and gessler had to try a desparation shot to try and score and ended up on his back.... somehow cody still got the 5 count but who knows he still won the match no matter what.  And yes gessler did pin turner in the first period....and no being out for 3 weeks or however long you ppl say is not an excuse.  Just like davis's excuse about haveing mono earlier this year.  If you are goin to wrestle don't make excuses.  I know about wrestling hurt and you will never hear me using that as an excuse to why i did not win my senior year, but it is why i am not wrestling right now.  I don't know if anybody saw the 171 or 189 from forrest go out and wrestle with practically a broken ankle.  his leg was taped all the way up and tight he practically had to be carried on to the mat and was carried off by his coaches. he got killed but he did not come off the mat making excuses....in my opinion he is the classiest person in the state.

We saw 6 of our young men go out with serious injuries this year. Some requiring surgery. These same injuries would have ended their season, 20 years ago.

Our team had to watch these young men struggle to get back into shape because most of these injures were to knees and feet.

To say missing out on weeks of training is not a reason for not being at your best. Is just silly! It shows that you haven't had to experience that pain of seeing your child or other children struggle to get back to where they where before their injures. No body has taken anything away from your fine wrestler at Tullhoma. Turner learned from his mistakes and was never pinned again and went undefeated after the Father Ryan Tournament. Unfortunately, not all the young men learn from their mistakes. Turner's Record speaks for itself!

By the way, we did watch the match.

Most of the Farragut parents wanted Gessler to Win. Because they figured he would overlook Turner, just like some of your supporters did and Turner would do to him what Borman did. Check his majors and pin record in the Tournament. Bottom line is the best young man won and that was Ty Cody! Good Kid, with great fans.

  6. Top new coach's

Joe Knox and Kerry Ferguson at Farragut!

As a parent I appreciate you taking time away from your collage years to give back to a sport U love. I knew it would be a special year with both of you being there for the young men on the team. I wish you had more support from the school but we want go there.

When everyone in the region counted your team out for the count, the both of you knew that that you had a Phoenix in the making. You did raise a team from the ashes and turn it into a contender. Maybe with some Freshmen coming out next year and Reveiz bringing in some lineman you can have a Juggernaut of a team and give the BCs and SDs a run for their money

  7. How about Farragut?

    Four coach's in Five years!

Six time KIL and Regiona/Duel Champions!

We didn't win our district and for the 1st time in 6 years, we did not compete in the Region Duels. 0 fressmen this year. Gave up to 3 weight classes per match.

We win the KIL! Karns gets a half a page article in the Knoxville paper.

We win Region! Seymour gets the headline and article.

We finish 4th in the State Tournament and nothing in the locale paper.

That's what I call No credit.

  8. I agree! Let's get it on!

By the way baby bear mom. Someone has to replace a legend at Bradley. It's not an easy thing to do. Soddy is across the lake and ridges and their hungry for Bear meat. Watch out.

But really what a great program you have and we all know it takes great parents to help it all come together.

  9. I think Gessler (Tullahoma) will give Ty Cody (Science Hill) all he wants in the semi-finals. Who knows maybe we will have a re-match between Borneman (Houston) and

Gessler (Tullahoma).  Turner's Shoulder was injured and he was caught in head throw.

    Others to watch in 152

    Johnson (Rossview)

    Ross (Brentwood)

    Chism (Bartlett)

    Hebda (Clarksville)

Espinoza (Kenwood)  lost at Bradley. Points 1st week back

Spain (Bradley Central) Lost in overtime! 1st week back.

I think Turner (Farragut) is very over-rated and will not fair well in the tournament.

Sorry, about the 152 Turner issues. This was in response to "millerj" comments on a young man he doesn’t know. Not once but twice he has made classless remarks.

I'm not sure whom he supports but I'm very disappointed in his maturity and the lack of class he has shown. Maybe his actions reflect the place his wrestler finished in the State.

It would really be disappointed if he were a Houston supporter. I sat in front of the Houston parents at the Bradley Tournament and thought they were a classy group of parents and wrestlers. I even cheered for Borman in the finals at Bradley. Chad was only 1 overtime point away from the finals after being away from the sport for approx. 2 years. Could Chad beat Borman then, No way! He couldn't even go 3 periods.

As U have seen, everyone from around east TN who has been around Chad Turner will tell U he deserved to be there. All his defeats except in the finals were in his 1st couple of week’s back. . No camps, no clinics, just guts.

Good luck to Borman and Gessler next year. They both wrestle hard and deserve to be Champions.

  10. It's above 2 weights that it is illegal . It happens all the time.

Wrestling is a team sport at the Duels not the Individual State Championships. That's why the Duels were started! One for the team and a separate for the individual wrestler.

I think if D1 and D2 were one division then McCallie never would have done such a thing in the state because the teams are more spread out in points. Also, the chances of being a 4 time State Champion is a tougher road.

(16vs32 man brackets, everyone in your division goes vs only the cream of the top go). More wear and tare on the body and higher chance for upsets.

Great Ideal for the State Duels bad for the Individual State.

Coach's egos or school egos should not destroy a young mans quest to show he's the best at his weight. SAD, SAD,

  11. Bradley is great. You have the hardware to prove it.

No one is questioning your program or fans. Just a couple of matches that were viewed as decided by the refs and not the wrestlers.

When you see a young man trying to set up a take down and then gets called for stalling when the match is tied up. You have to ask yourself "Why would they want to stall"? What a crazy call! The stalling call has to be examined or explained better to the average fan. If I remember correctly all the finalist in 2nd in the questionable matches will be back next year. They can finish it on the mats.

By the way, if a wrestler sticks someone and pins them it doesn't make them a better Wrestler? If you think that you must have never wrestled. We've all been there and try to never make that mistake again. This year some of the Young men who pinned their opponents were standing lower on the podium then the person they pinned early in the season.

JMPKnoxville enjoy "Fat Tuesday" and remember these adults are your peers now. Use some tact. You helped win region as a junior and I've seen you during your upsets. You have a lot to give so pass it on to young men your helping coach and do not waste your time attacking folks on this site. Just remember folks. Most of us read the same bible and it only reads one way. But Millions have died because the we all see things through different eyes.

  12. Thanks, Joe and Kerry!

  13. I wasn't surprised at all to see Chad there. I'v liked him since the first time I watched him wrestle as a freshman. He's physical and gutty, exactly my kind of kid. Folks can speculate all they want. He was there and nobody can take that away.

Thanks Coach. Your a class act! It's reflected in the way your parents and young men Act !!!! Since we have been through 4 coaches in 5 years, I think you can appreciate the way we feel about the accomblishments of our young men at Farrragut. By the way, if Chad had to loose to any body I'm glad it was Ty. He showed alott of heart and was a class act. I just wish he was a foot shorter. :o

  14. Rumor has it that it was Spencer Manleys Dad.

If so, Stuff happens. Tim Manley has given allot to coaching kids in the Chattanooga area. He always showed class and has had nothing but good things to say about his son’s competitors.

Good luck to Spencer and look forward to seeing the Little Manley going to the State in the future.

  15. Don't forget Gessler lost 12-5 to Ty. Not far from a major. Chad completes the take down's different State Champion. Chad attacked the whole match like he always does. The Fans of Region 2 respect his style and heart. To bad you could not see that. If you noticed during the Boreman/Turner match, the Baylor parents were cheering for Chad. He started out at the UTC arena wrestling and finished it there. He's a young man who has moved 4 times since 1999. Had his father called back to active duty and sent overseas for a year because of the events of 9-11. He has been a part of Three State Championships in Cross-Country, Soccer and now wrestling. All his coaches through out the State because of his aggressive work ethic and heart have respected him. He didn't want to wrestle this year but came out to help the team. If he would have been able to wrestle last year it would have been scary for your boys. Remember the only young men he lost to, were all standing on the platform. And those losses came his first 3 weeks getting back into shape. Be nice and give the boy his due.

  16. Turner may be 152 runner-up but he was/is over-rated. I will give Chad credit he had a great tournament and wrestled very well when he had to, but the few times I saw him this season he didn't looked very sound. He beat Borneman in a match where I saw Luke puke 2-3 times and didn't look his best. Chad also is majored in the finals by Cody (Science Hill) who in my opinion is a great kid and a better wrestler. Regardless what you might think Mountain he is not deserving of his runner-up crown, but he got the medal and thats what counts. I will say Farragut had a great tournament this year, and I am glad to see Dix win it after seeing him work so hard for so many years.

Also, ask the kids he beat! Only kids to beat him over the years are all former State Champions. He placed second in his region as a sophmore and ran into Ty second round. He wins the old fassion way. He takes them down and turns them over. It's not pretty but it helped us take 4th in the State.

How can you make such a dumm remark? Chad had 2 pins, 2 major's and said that Boreman was backing up after the 1st 30 seconds. We all new Chad could beat Boreman and Gessler. We new Cody would give him a problem because of thier styles. Steve Mckinney was Chads old partner at DB and he predicted Chad would win! Pretty cheap talk from a guy who dosn't know the facts. By the way. He beat Boreman wearing his Dads wrestling shoes from 1977. Also, he had the Flu during the State. He was man enough not to puke and use it to rest.

  18. I think Gessler (Tullahoma) will give Ty Cody (Science Hill) all he wants in the semi-finals. Who knows maybe we will have a re-match between Borneman (Houston) and Gessler (Tullahoma).

    I guess you thought wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What you saw of Chad Turner at the Father Ryan Tour was a young man who had just returned after sitting out for 3 weeks and was injured. I guess the State proved who was overrated. After he was beat by Gessler at Father Ryan he said he would not loose another match. He was almost right. Ty Cody wasn't made for a kid with a great double leg take down. He lost to him as a Sophomore in the State.

Not bad for a kid who sat out his Junior year with a back desease. I guess you didn't check with the coaches/kids or parents from Dobyns Bennett, Baylor, McCallie or other areas he has wrestled in. They would all have told you he a great kidd with a big heart and attacks, attacks and Wins.
