1. Thanks OwlsGK30. I would like to say that it was a class act to have members of the Owls team come over to me following the conclusion of last nights game. I want to wish your team good luck in the substate match tomorrow. I hope that you make it to state and make an impact for our region.

    Be strong and be cool.

sorry roadtech...i misinterpeted this reply....my bad.

  2. Why do you say that they/we have week region, because you can't get out of yours? That's pretty week to say, I guess the regions we play and then got pass state are week as well since Riverdale this year and Blackman last year beat those region winners. I think a lot of players would disagree with you.

Let's not make it personal on here. I just disagreed with you about Riverdale being a kick and run and since I have watch them a lot more than you, I felt that my opinion was more concrete. Actually the goals that Riverdale have scored since region and districts have started were mostly through balls from the midfield, only a couple here adn there were long balls, which indicates possession. You'll just have to see Wed for yourself, because your opinion does count, because maybe you did see them early in the year and that's what they did, I am not one discount anyone's opinion. Heck I might be eating crow after Wed night, but that's okay.

blackmansoccerdad.....if you will read your post you will see "Riverdale THIS YEAR and Blackman last year beat those region winners." which ..as i said....is not a true statement. but hey...there is nothing wrong with being a good team in a weak region. weak not week.

  3. burnt, a long time poster with obvious ties to the tribe, and roadtech, who appears to be the goalkeeper in question, needs to drop this topic in this forum or continue it by phone or in person.

as for the call to change keepers by earls.... it is not unusual in any sport to see non typical substitutions at the end of a significant game. in basketball if a team is ahead late and trying to protect a lead you will see the coach pull out the regulars and put in better free throw shooters, or, if they are behind he might take out his big men and sub three point shooters. the 2 minute drill in football typically uses different atheletes than what you see during most of the game. this coaching strategy is common and many times effective, so i certainly see nothing wrong with that descision, as a matter of fact, i like the nothing to lose, everything to gain philosophy . but you rarely see the big men in basketball or the starters in football lose control when taken out in that situation....they must recognize the situation and do whatever they can do to help the team. i think a lesson was learned and mcminn will be better for it....good luck next year, and good luck to the owls in murph!

neither riverdale nor blackman last year, beat a region winner to advance to the state. mcminn and soddy both lost in the region.

    the admirals 4 riverdale 1

  5. I think we need to do our team again..FC United...we were good and could easily win state this time..if we take all the same guys..i have 1 more defense we could use..very good...get everyone back..if eric cant come back i will play keeper...then we could start practicing at the end of july?august? i dont know..i just know that abunch of us were wanting to get together..but nick is trying out for ER team..so you would need to call him fast..i think it would be good..i just cant do a summer team b/c i have so much going on..let me know..

  7. Stats and opinions dont mean anything, i suggest quit focusing on previous games and prove what you say you can do, win a game, and then you deserve to talk

    825681060

everyone left standing has proven they can win a game...and they deserve talking...........this is the state and you win your way here

  8. No way....this game will be MUCH closer than 3-0 or 4-0. I predict Brentwood on top 1-0

    825679777

cool..it is the state tourney.....that is why they play the games......good luck

  9. of course mcminn county is still in it i just think that if farragut has there best game and mcminn has there's farragut will win and yes the  "any thing can happen" is true we lost to west because we went out slow and finished slow west came out ready and got the better of us. I wasn't putting mcminn county down (they beat us 3-1 so i have no room to say anything) i  was putting farragut up.

weaveworld...you are probably right...but who knows who will show up that day?....who knows what was required in a game played the day before? i guess that is why they play the game....good luck to you the rest of the season

ive said all year...the road to the championship goes through farragut.

  10. Great post thumb

You wouldn't happen to still have a link to that article would you?

    825673385

i dont know if rivals archives their articles...it was @ Unapproved Website...then studentsports...then soccer. cree, kimball or hinshaw may have made a hard copy of the article...if you know them , check and see....sorry.

  11. UNCFAN13, Touche. I had not looked at their schedule. It is true it appears that many of his goals did come against weak opponents, however their schedule is still much tougher than McMinn's. Also, I was a bit biased because of the fact that Lowder has a national reputation, which I am sure has nothing to do with his 30 goals this season. He is an extremely good player and that is why I deemed him to be the best scorer in TN. I have seen and played against Jared Price and my point is that he prays on the weaker teams, but once he plays strong teams he is not a very effective player.

psa4....it is rather common in any sport to see a gifted athelete have impressive stats when matched against inferior opposition. a great running back in college might tally 250 yards against a non ranked vandebilt or the like. however it is rarely cosidered that these backs were praying, or should we say preying, on such teams. they were just superior atheletes with superior talent around them. it is also common to see such running backs have less impressive stats when facing a team of equivalent or superior tallent. lowder and price have both tallied the vast majority of their goals on weaker opposition....and both have scored against ranked teams.

as for national recognition...an article about price and mcminn written by joe trost, sports editor of the chicago sun tribune, published on Unapproved Website last season certainly would qualify as such.

  12. there are several coaches worthy to be included in this list. one is coach bobby earls of mcminn. he is currently 50-7-1 over the last 3 seasons. 4 of his 7 losses have come at the hands of farragut and dalton, ga. farragut is back to back national and state champions and dalton has been consistantly ranked in the top 20 nationally over the past 3 years. earls has taken his team to the state tourney the past 2 seasons and is in the position to make it a third time. his teams have been ranked as high as 17th nationally during this period and finished 25th last season. mcminn has been ranked in the top 5 in AAA all season this year and is currently ranked 3rd.

this is quite an accomplishment considering the school is located in a county where the major city has just 15,000 residents. hats off to you coach earls.

  13. Riddle me this, riddle me that....

Yes, McCallie has wins against Father Ryan and ND.  Parkview, by the way, has dropped to #7 in Georgia.  I don't know how it has affected them Nationally.  I moved McCallie into the Redmond 11 from being unranked.  McCallie's spot is only "far behind" #1 and #2 if you don't think about the dozens of other teams not in the top 11 overall.  The Baylor and Parkview goal differentials, I'm sure, affected my ranking.  I assure you, though, no disrespect was intended.  To the contrary, I see McCallie as being in the top 11 in the state and the distinctions between any of those 11 teams are, in my mind, slight.  Without question, McCallie could beat any team on my list.

    825662406

your right about the slight differences between these teams. if each team played the other 10 on this list, plus another 3 or 4 near misses, each team would be around .500.
