  1. sorry roadtech...i misinterpeted this reply....my bad.
  2. blackmansoccerdad.....if you will read your post you will see "Riverdale THIS YEAR and Blackman last year beat those region winners." which ..as i said....is not a true statement. but hey...there is nothing wrong with being a good team in a weak region. weak not week.
  3. burnt, a long time poster with obvious ties to the tribe, and roadtech, who appears to be the goalkeeper in question, needs to drop this topic in this forum or continue it by phone or in person. as for the call to change keepers by earls.... it is not unusual in any sport to see non typical substitutions at the end of a significant game. in basketball if a team is ahead late and trying to protect a lead you will see the coach pull out the regulars and put in better free throw shooters, or, if they are behind he might take out his big men and sub three point shooters. the 2 minute drill in football typically uses different atheletes than what you see during most of the game. this coaching strategy is common and many times effective, so i certainly see nothing wrong with that descision, as a matter of fact, i like the nothing to lose, everything to gain philosophy . but you rarely see the big men in basketball or the starters in football lose control when taken out in that situation....they must recognize the situation and do whatever they can do to help the team. i think a lesson was learned and mcminn will be better for it....good luck next year, and good luck to the owls in murph!
  4. Good luck in the state owls......represent the region well.
  5. kimball and slack...both multi year all staters.....kimball signed with king.
  6. if the owls make it to the region finals..who would be the two likely teams they might meet in the sectionals?
  7. hey freak.....ill call kent...or have him call me......our schedules cross sometimes...we like to play phone tag......dw

  13. after looking at the schedules, records and state brackets......my nod goes to hendersonville to win it all.
  14. mcminn...........they won 3-0... but cookeville played a very good game......keeping the score notted at 0-0 until the 67 minute.

  16. ok..so far we have brentwood vs farragut. hendersonville vs mcminn...........who does blackman play?.......need some west tennessee info
  17. weaveworld...you are probably right...but who knows who will show up that day?....who knows what was required in a game played the day before? i guess that is why they play the game....good luck to you the rest of the season ive said all year...the road to the championship goes through farragut.

psa4....it is rather common in any sport to see a gifted athelete have impressive stats when matched against inferior opposition. a great running back in college might tally 250 yards against a non ranked vandebilt or the like. however it is rarely cosidered that these backs were praying, or should we say preying, on such teams. they were just superior atheletes with superior talent around them. it is also common to see such running backs have less impressive stats when facing a team of equivalent or superior tallent. lowder and price have both tallied the vast majority of their goals on weaker opposition....and both have scored against ranked teams. as for national recognition...an article about price and mcminn written by joe trost, sports editor of the chicago sun tribune, published on Unapproved Website last season certainly would qualify as such.
  20. there are several coaches worthy to be included in this list. one is coach bobby earls of mcminn. he is currently 50-7-1 over the last 3 seasons. 4 of his 7 losses have come at the hands of farragut and dalton, ga. farragut is back to back national and state champions and dalton has been consistantly ranked in the top 20 nationally over the past 3 years. earls has taken his team to the state tourney the past 2 seasons and is in the position to make it a third time. his teams have been ranked as high as 17th nationally during this period and finished 25th last season. mcminn has been ranked in the top 5 in AAA all season this year and is currently ranked 3rd. this is quite an accomplishment considering the school is located in a county where the major city has just 15,000 residents. hats off to you coach earls.
  21. in the region 3 vs region 4 sectional....i see soddy playing tullahoma and mcminn playing blackman
  22. hey tullahoma, dont be so defensive. winning comes with a price. at least you are noticed.
  23. your right about the slight differences between these teams. if each team played the other 10 on this list, plus another 3 or 4 near misses, each team would be around .500.
