  1. Everyone on this board would pick Mt. Pleasant in this game if CA had 11 All-Staters in the line-up. Mt. Pleasant may win and they may win big ... that's football. But, they will not run into a team this season who is more prepared. Athletes may be the difference, but CA will not be outcoached. Coach Mote is probably the most underrated coach in the area ... at any level. But he gets no credit because of the "good ol' boy" coaches in region 6-1A. In his tenure at CA, he has beaten every team in the region at least once, gone to the playoffs twice, and done all that with as few "athletes" as anyone in the region. Even with all that, the other coaches in the region have never recognized him nor any of his players for outstanding seasons because he is at CA. That type of inconsistency has obviously spilled over to this board. CA may not win this Friday, but they will be in the playoffs and the number one reason is not Markease Ingram ... it is Leslie Mote.
  2. Word is that Kenwood is looking to name its new coach this week? Interviews have all been conducted and they are making a decision. Does anyone have any scoop about this?

    Coaching Jobs

What is the scoop anyone is hearing about the Independence job in Williamson County? That would seem to be highly sought after opportunity. Also, is the Moore Co. job open?
  4. Spring Hill trailed Columbia Central 26-7 going into the 4th quarter on THursday night and rallied with 29 fourth-quarter points to post the school's first ever win over Central. The Raiders scored the winning touchdown with 0:24 seconds left to post the 36-33 victory. That was quite a comeback!
  5. What are some worthwhile jobs that are OR will be coming open as the conclude the regular season and head into the post-season?
  6. Not to put a damper on everyone's playoff spirit ... BUT, let's talk about some upcoming job openings. What jobs are going to (OR possibly could) come open due to firings, retirement, or voluntary dismissals?
  7. If anyone knows of any school with an opening in a jamboree please post that information in this thread. I know it's late, but you never know.

    2004 prospects

Everyone was talking about Jason Hoath at Spring Hill High School this past season, but the best may be yet to come out of there. Area coaches say they have three legitimate D-I prospects in next year's Senior class and another one in the junior class. Does anyone know what positions they play?
  9. Anybody got a score on this one?
  10. Hey mbraiders - Give us the names of those top receivers from SH. With Hoath gone, do they have a QB to get the ball to those guys?
  11. I think Spring Hill has one of the top groups of returning receivers next season. The big tight end they have was only a sophomore this season, plus they have one returning wideout who had 30 receptions this season and another who had over 20.

    4A Mr. Football

My point exactly. Jason Hoath is not getting proper mention as a Mr. Football candidate because he was not on a winning team ... that's a shame. Never mind the fact that he faced a new coach, a new offensive scheme, and starting at middle LB for the first time and he responded by more than doubling his offensive numbers from a year ago. Ask any coach who had to face that kid the last three years and they will tell you what kind of player he is. This young man is more than deserving of careful consideration for this award but the short-sightedness of people who only get their information from reading the words of "experts" on this board cause players like Hoath to be overlooked.

    4A Mr. Football

One of the best football players in the state is not even getting his name mentioned on this board in regards to Mr. Football. Spring Hill's Jason Hoath is one of the most complete players in the state. As a QB he ran for 1000+ yards AND threw for 1300+ in his first and only year in a new offensive system. And oh by the way, he scored 27 touchdowns. Pretty good numbers.
  14. Scott Smith made the decision to go to Ezell. That's a decision maybe more coaches should make (go to a private school) - if coaches are convinced that there are so many advantages by going that route, then go right ahead. How many times a day do coaches talk to their players about not complaining and just working harder ... that's some very good advice more coaches need to take to heart. If spending hour after hour - day after day debating these types of issues is what so many coaches are going to do, I have the perfect job for them ... it's called administration. You guys can have it ... I'm going to COACH football and spend my time with my players in the weight room, in the meeting room, and on the practice field in preparation for the 10+ Friday nights a year I live for.
