1. QUOTE(justafan06 @ Mar 15 2007 - 02:24 PM) 826413140Said the same thing in the past. Mr. Basketball should be a well round player. I have seen very little defense being played. @@@@, I can stand up there and shoot all day and will hit several, that still doesn't make me a great player, maybe a wannabe whose time has come and gone!!!! Temple does have some good players, just do not think they deserve the ranking.

You obviously don't know a whole lot about this Temple team or Skogen. I wonder how many teams would love to have only 3 losses at this point in the season and be in the second round of the state tourney? And I wonder how Seth is up for the Mr. Basketball for the second year in a row? It sounds like to me you are the "wannabe". /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

  2. QUOTE(bigchief @ Mar 15 2007 - 07:09 AM) 826412597Both teams played badly. 45 turnovers between the two. East Lit shot 33%, Temple 31.6%.

Temple will have to play MUCH better to advance to the final.

You're right, but the question would be -- is that normal for East Lit? I know it's not the norm for Temple.

And yes, Temple does have to play better than they did on Wednesday night to advance to the final.

  3. QUOTE(frankieD12 @ Mar 15 2007 - 06:41 AM) 826412555what is temple bringing to the table? just size mostly is all i want to know...

What do they bring to the table? Well, let's see . . . I know that there are many people who don't think that Temple has a chance against the mighty west teams but you don't have a 32-3 record for nothing. In Temple, you have a team that is quick on defense and can handle the ball very well. They really don't have that much size, because the tallest person on the team is only about 6'4. They have one of the best players in the state in Seth Skogen (Mr. Basketball candidate). They have some pretty good shooters at all positions. They pass the ball well and work together as a team. They are fairly patient on offense and work for the open shot. Are they the best team in the state? That is yet to be proven when they play Humboldt on Friday. Can they beat Humboldt? Yes, if they play the way they are capable of playing. Will they win? I believe the answer is yes.

  4. Well, I've given you all a chance to respond to this thread and so I'm going to tell you who I think is the top linebacker in 1A: Josh Smith out of Temple.

He's averaging over 142 tackles on the year and is one of the hardest hitting LB's in the state. The Chattanooga papers have called him everything from a beast to a bull and a monster. He's a real playmaker. He runs all over the place, he runs to the ball. He's got some size, some production, and he plays quicker than he registers on the clock. He weighs 240 pounds, but is only 6 feet 2. As with every aspect of his game, the keys here are Smith's consistency and continuing progress. He appears to have a great understanding of the game and shows a lot of aggression and passion for what he is doing. I would put him up against anyone in the state.

  5. It seems to me Temple fans talk alot of smack for a team that is only in the playoffs for the second time and has yet to win a playoff game.

    They will be surprised.

It appears to me that the majority of the ones posting on this thread are not even legitimate Temple fans. And I would even say that there is not even one Temple player posting on here. So, you others (who say they are from Temple) can run your mouth all you want to because it doesn't even represent how the football team feels about the playoffs.

  6. Heard this game may be played at Finley? Anyone know if that is true. This would be a great disadvantage to Grace but it would be much more fun than at Grace.

It would be great if the game was at Finley because I hear from some of the Lookout Valley players that Grace's field is horrible. Is that true?

  7. I am going to try and help you, if you are "helpable". First, you discredit your point by calling names, dipstick or whatever. You have a good point regard Dailey so don't ruin in defense by name calling, it makes you look ignorant. Second, receivers and running backs are a hard comparison. Skogen averages over 20 yards every time he touches the ball. Daily's average would be less. Dailey has more yards, but he also has more touches. It is a tough comparison. Both young men have been successful enough to be considered, and for that matter, to win it. Does Skogen have the advantage being a senior? Some say yes others no. As for the past two years, Skogen has right at 150 receptions and 3,000 yards, so he too has been pretty busy.

You make some very good points. Plus, you have to think about the fact that Temple is not one-dimensional. They don't rely fully on Skogen. They have 3 other guys that average around 100 yards per game: Josh Smith, Joey Skogen, and Kameron Ridley. Seth could have higher numbers in his stats if Temple went to him more. Of course, the same is true about Josh, Joey and Kameron.

With that being said, Seth has to be one of the best players in 1A (if not the best).

  8. It looks like he is yours until you lose and there ain't anything you can do about it ;) .

I'm not sure if Temple players are posting or not but are they reading it? It is easy for teenagers to get caught up in all the championship hype.

I don't think the Temple players care what is written on here. As a matter of fact, I would say that most of the Temple players think that most of the things said on these posts are a joke.

  9. Ok First of all Im here as i said i would be.. second of all Temple has a great team... 3rd seth isnt the man his brother might be.. 4th Vic Grider did not have the pirates ready to play at all! alot of us fans has always said and ill say it now... Vic has never been able to coach a big game,. he got out coached in this game hands down.. another screwed up job VIC... you dont pass when your gaining 6 to 7 yards a play idiot!!!! and to the REFS!!! that was a dirt poor job of officiating.. Temple had 12 men on the field 4 times i saw.. people was screamiong it and they threw 1 flag for it then waved it off.. then temples defense stood the pirate Qb up and the play should have been called dead some players was even walking the other way when seth stripped it and ran for 1 td. then a bad call on a fumble that was way down.. Again great Job Temple.. I think we will meet again... Great coaching,.. and Seth is not Mr Football .. great ball player but NOT mr football.. VIC!! please take the principal Job.. we have had enough Grider coaching. typical Grider coaching is Good team close score? out coached!!!

Well, why don't you cry a little bit. I'm not sure what game you were watching but it wasn't the one I saw. How in the world could you say that Seth Skogen is not "the man"? or that he is "NOT my football"? You obviously know nothing about the game of football. The only thing you say that is really worth repeating is "great Job Temple".

I was right about predicting the win, but I was way off on the final score.

What an amazing performance by the Crusaders tonight.

The "muffins" put up more points against the Pirates than every team SP had played going into tonights ballgame! Great Job Temple!!

  10. Gut Wrench Gary says that Zone Pirate is riding to the game with Slick Rick on the crouch rocket. Gut Wrench Gary says he hopes to see Temple people on here after the game. Slick Vic has his boys ready to play. Pitt by 28. Gut Wrench Gary is headed to Buffalo Wild Wings to have a little pregame dinner downtown and then headed to Finley Stadium.

We'll be here after the game.

Temple is ready to play and IF SP wins -- it won't be by 28.

    My prediction:

    Temple 34

    SP 32

  11. Or maybe put get him in working extra hard in the weight room and give him a try at FB maybe???

I don't believe he is a FB at all. Seth is a very good player and will either play at TE or WR in college. I understand he is going to Georgia Tech on a recruiting trip tomorrow. I heard that there were scouts from GT (and other schools) at the game on Thursday night to watch him and a couple of others play.

  12. I had heard that Skogen got hurt during this game. Is that correct? I hope not, because our speed will be a very good test for him if he plans on playing in the SEC. I heard he hurt his ankle. Thanks, and congrats on the win and undefeated season...so far. You would be better off to lose to SP, because IF you were to win, you might end up playing Trousdale Co. in the first round of the playoffs, and they are always tough.

He just twisted his ankle in the first half of the game but he came back and scored 2 TD's (78 and 67 yards). So, I don't think it will be any problem for him next friday. And we don't care who we play in the playoffs. As a matter of fact, we're not even thinking about that at all. Our focus is only on next Friday at Finley.
