  1. Ravenwood clearly dominated the game. Houston was lucky to advance although they did finish when it counted. But they should provide a good match up against Franklin.

    prediction: Franklin over Houston (1-0)

Last comment: who made the brackets? Definitely not the most even distribution.

Blind draw. However two teams from the same region (or is it district?) will not be placed in the same bracket. So, when Ravenwood is drawn first, Franklin goes to the bottom. Same for Knox Catholic and Bearden.

Franklin looked very good. Impressed with their center mid #16 I think...she is a game changer. Houston looked a little lost without Olivia. Who wouldn't, she is the Michael Jordan of High School Soccer in TN this year...and she has one more year left. A lot of coaches and opponents be glad when she graduates. I also think it hurts Houston when they play against a team with 3 forwards because they aren't able to keep that high pressure up the field like they normally do when they play with 3 defenders.

    Prediction:

    Franklin 2

    Houston 0

  2. From the fans of Volleyball, we would like to congrad this Great Soccer Performance this year. You beat us to the punch. Actually VB wanted to be the first State Championship Winner in 7AAA from Siegel. you deserved to win and this is a legacy that will be hard to follow.

Thanks so much and thanks to Coach slaughter for making the trip with the two young 'uns!

  3. Tough loss for Riverdale today. 0-1 to DB. I thought for sure one of those chances in the second half was going to drop. Great representation for 7AAA. When you loose a game like that you just gotta think that it wasn't meant to be.

Heads up, you'll have a great chance to return next year.

  4. Heard that the Riverdale Football game has been moved to Thursday, October 30. What if Riverdale hosts the Region Finals? Many thing have to happen on Tuesday for this to occur but if that were to happen where will the game be played?

  5. We need more coaches to particpate! Emails were sent out earlier last week for participation. In order for this to be a more accurate ranking, more coaches need to participate!

Apathy can not be tollerated from high school coaches. We (coaches) must be the first line in promoting our sport. Rankings such as Eurosport are a direct indication of the level of organization within our sport. This is the only state wide ranking aside from "mjub". Newspapers do their best but, they only offer regional rankings.

Ask your coach if they participate. There are links on the eurosport website for contact purposes.

There are some significant absenses from the euro rankings, most notably - Riverdale. Plus I don't see how BGA could be ranked ahead of Baylor.

  6. I believe that you have missed the issue. The issue is not that they are not allowed to use the football field but that they had a game scheduled (Varsity High School Girl's Soccer) and they were bumped from the field for a Middle School Football game that was not originally scheduled. It not only gives the impression but does show that this boy's sport is given priority over a girl's sport. Even though it is considered a football field and a football stadium, it is not supposed to be. To avoid Title IX bias the schools in Murfreesboro started calling their stadiums "Multi-sport" stadiums to show that the stadiums were not singled out for football use. What they are saying and what they are actually doing are two different things. That is the point. This is not supposed to be a stadium that is dedicated to football but is supposed to be dedicated all sports that would use the facility because it was built and paid for with tax payers money and not by any particular booster club.

    Thank you Whitey.

  7. We aren't talking about the siegel game, we are talking about the Coffee County game. I doubt CHS brought busloads of fans down there. Where the stands overflowing? .... And like I said, if you don 't like it do like a lot of programs are forced to do - raise your own money and build a bigger and better field. If it weren't for football and the money it generates small sports like soccer wouldn't even be around.

Are you under the impression that soccer is supported by football revenues? or that football paid for the construction of the athletic stadium?

  8. It is a "football" field

At our school it is an athletic field which has been constructed with the intent that it would be utilized by multiple athletic teams not football alone.

Also, I would hestitat to criticize principals unless you are certain that is the principal's decision concerning scheduling and not someone else.

  9. Siegel has played against both teams this year and I have seen RHS several other times. Houston is good, very good, and they are senior heavy. This always seems to add a level of urgency to a team when their team is made up of players that know if they loose their high school career is over. On a talent basis only Germantown Houston fields 11 strong players.

Based on talent alone RHS is is at a disadvantage. RHS fields 7-8 strong players that will be competitive at the state tournament level. However, I love the way this team plays together. Compton is a work horse and seemingly wills his team to victory. Jasper is a crafty forward and by combining with Rollins and Jose, RHS should get their chances. RHS has a way of taking advantage of their chances in big games. Defense will be under constant pressure and if their outside backs can stay organized, communicate well, and not take any chances from the back RHS will be in this game to the last whistle. Holt will have to be on his "A" game as well.

    Prediction:

    Houston 2 (OT)

    RHS 1

  10. matt lightfoot houston

    javier hernadeaz shelbyville

    jake holt farragut

    daniel tackling ooltewah

    matt reed blackman

    bradley jacobs brentwood

    MJUB...

What about Tony Garibaldi from Warren Co? Another one of those players that will not get any attention because of the team he plays on, however he was the best forward we faced this year. Deceptively quick and powerful shot with great accuracy.

Other coaches...keep him in mind when selecting all state honors. 24 goals, District 7 Offensive player of the year.
