  1. Congratulations are in order for both Farragut and Halls. You have represented your state, districts 3 and 4 AAA, region 2AAA, East Tennessee, and all of baseball in a magnificent way in the Spring Fling. Continued best wishes for both of you in this title game.
  2. Thanks Bizazz, and I will be pulling for Adam as well at Milligan.
  3. Yes, me too. It has been a fun season. I guess I can spend more time watching my other grandson finish up his T-ball season.
  4. Lockwood pitched the last 1 1/3 innings. I am not sure how many hits he gave up. I think it was about 3 or 4 hits. He also gave up the grand slam. Larsen was really sharp tonight. I do not think that the South Doyle batters ever figured him out.
  5. Halls pitched Larsen and Lockwood. Larsen got the win. South Doyle pitched McClain and Holland. I think that Holland probably took the loss. Hall had a 3 run homer, and Chris Kirkland for South Doyle had a grand slam. I think that there were probably a couple of doubles by both teams. It was a good hard fought game.
  6. In the South Doyle-Maryville game Lance McClain had a solo homer. Chris Kirkland had a solo homer. Lee Vannoy had a double and a RBI producing sacrifice. Ryan Holland was the winning pitcher. Bizazz, as far as the uproar goes, you can tell after reading just a few words of some of these posts what kind of source the comments are coming from. Let me tell you that I have enjoyed having an intelligent conversation with several of you guys, including you. As for the others, I usually do not comment on what they have to say, except in rare occasions. And, as for Adam, he is one fine ballplayer and a fine young man with a bright future. I am glad that my grandson had the opportunity to play against him and our many fine young men in this area. I haven't checked the threads to see if it has already been reported or not. If it has, please excuse my repetition (that is a privilege that comes with my age). If it has not, then Maryville beat William Blount 8-1 in the first game.
  7. Congratulations to both Cale and Matt are due. The are two fine young men and two great ball players. The future is bright for both of them.
  8. In response to the comments made here about fan behavior last night at Farragut during the South Doyle-Farragut game. I was sitting on the hill on the first base side (because I only have one leg it is near to impossible for me to get down the hill to sit behind my team) and I could tell that there was a big group of rail-birds down the left field line, and I could tell that they were very vocal, but I could not and did not hear the comments that have been talked about here. Farragut is one of the best high school teams that I have seen, and it is understandable that every team and their fans want to beat the best. I expect the fans to be loud, and I expect them to see plays quite differently from the Umpires many times during a game, but classlessness is never excusable. If that is indeed what happened then I apologize for all of the South Doyle parents, grandparents, fans, friends and players. By the way, I thought it was a very well played game, my team just came out on the short end of the score. Also, let me say that the people who I have met on this forum (such as Hiwassee Vol and Bizazz) are some of the best supporters of baseball and the young men who play the game that I have ever met. Yes they root for their sons as I do my grandson, but we also recognize a good performance by all of the young men.
  9. In the second game at Farragut tonight Maryville beat Heritage by a score of 8-5. In the nightcap Farragut beat South Doyle by a score of 9-1. Farragut had 3 home runs in the game but I can not tell you right now who hit them. Rob Catapano was the winning pitcher. Lee Vannoy was the losing pitcher. Cody Haun had a double for South Doyle.
  10. What is the weather like at Farragut today.
  11. HV have you heard the scores from either of the games at Farragut today?
  12. Don't quote me on this. I think that it was something like 17-2 or maybe 3 in favor of Bearden. I think that Adam Snyder took the loss, and I do not know who the winner for Bearden. I just got there in the last of the last inning and do not know any details except what Bizazz told me.
  13. South Doyle 10, William Blount 0 in 6 innings. Lance McClain threw a 1 hitter in getting his shut-out against WB. Lee Vannoy had a 3 run homer, and Chris Kirkland had a RBI double. I think that there might have been a couple more extra base hits that I lost track of. Bizazz, it was good to meet you and talk with you at the game today.
  14. I hope that someone does not already have a thread started on this. South Doyle 6, Bearden 5. Ryan Holland was the winning pitcher. I do not know any of the details.
