  1. I am taking Melrose in a close game.... Joe Jackson hits game winning shot, as time expires. Hate to see the season end tomorrow....this has been an awesome year.

I agree with you there, what a great BB season it has been, maybe one of the very best here in Memphis.

I hope the two Melrose players are ok. Are we sure Rucker broke his ankle ?

Spartans by 3, down to the wire ( I went there, my kids went there, what do you expect :thumb: )

  2. I think they both will move on i cant see either losing to Dyer County or Jackson North Side

You are right, I was just focusing on this weeks bracket and not thinking about getting out of the Region. Man, what a great year this has been for Memphis bball. Not sure when there has been this much talent spread around so many schools.

  3. Wow, way to go Spartans, and congrats to Melrose. Its a shame only one team can go to the state from here.

Nal stuman89 they both will move on to the Sub-state where they both can win and go to the state

thx terop, guess I was not thinking about this correctly. So even the loser of this Thursdays game moves on ?

  4. Congrats on that Huge " Mismatch " win of yours . 37-27 ..... mismatch , easy win ... funny thing Is the more that you and Volunteercoach disrespect your opponent , the more you disrespect your own team . The more you put Maryville down , the cheaper your victory becomes . If your opponent was that terrible , I guess it's no big deal that you won ... right ? Enjoy your huge 10 point " Mismatch " win , maybe next time you can "Act Like You've Been There Before" .

To the majority of the Classy White Station fans , I congratulate you , and hope you all enjoy your historical win .

I agree, there was NO mismatch. I don't see how anyone can look at Maryville's season and say a single thing against the way the got to the finals. They went trhough the "best of the best" by most people's account. BTY, looks like the poster you were referring to is out of Jackson......

I agree with you. We appreciate the congrats from the Maryville fans, you guys have been Champs over a long period of time, and your courteous remarks are appreciated. Trust me when I say that the vast majority of WSHS fans that Spartansfan and I know do know how to win, ( and lose ) , with class.

  5. I haven't seen any Maryville fans say White Station doesn't stand a chance . We realize we're going up against a talented team that has peaked at the right time .

Gee , maybe this is that " trash " that I talked before the game Volunteercoach .... Maybe you just need to sleep it off .

I would just like to say that the WSHS fans/Alums that I have talked to have nothing but respect and admiration for Maryville. Good night to all.

  6. Happy for my Spartans of course. And it is nice to bring a trophy back to this part of the state. Maybe most important is that there were no serious injuries ( that I know of ) and to say to the kids of both teams " job well done " and to be proud of what you all accomplished this year. These memories will be with you for your lifetime.

Personally, I think it was an honor to play a team with such a storied tradition as Maryville.

  7. It is a minor point perhaps but a players' family can move a few miles or so in Memphis and depending upon the exact street be in either WSHS's , or Ridgeway's , or Kirby's, or Overtons', or East's ( and so forth ) district. And my understanding is a long as it is a valid move into a different school distrcit a kid does not have to sit out.

I only point that out because it may not be as disruptive as one might think for a family to move ( assuming legitimately ) a mile or two down away into an Apartment for example if they want their child to attend a particular school.

Edit: I am not sure about the transfer rules now that I think about it. I will try to look it up.

  8. This is so typical of some people . . . . you would not be happy if you were hung with a new rope. Be grateful your team won the opportunity to travel to Cookeville. Quit whining! This is not a time to be negative, it's a time to celebrate & get behind your team that has worked hard to earn a trip to the State Championship! Good luck to all teams.

Well no, I would not be happy to be hung with a new rope.

But I am happy as heck to be traveling to Cookeville this year. WSHS has been knocking on this particular door a long time. Win or lose I am proud of these guys.

  9. From the comments on the Memphis Commercial Appeal website:

"I really believe Maryville doesn't have the competition that the teams in West Tennessee have. In Memphis, the teams are so talented and beat up on each other. I believe if Maryville were on the west side, I don't believe they would be going to the state championship game year after year. Good Luck and bring home that gold ball for the city of Memphis".

..........I believe if Maryville were on the west side, I'd probably have to move. :bored:

Spartan fan here. I do not know who made that statement, but either they were just flapping their gums, or they do not follow TN high school football very closely.

Anyway hats off to both teams for making to the finals and let's hope for an injury free game.

  10. Quit crying like a bunch of sissy republicans, and lets play ball! What is the big complaint anyway... travel time. The kids love to travel! This is the playoffs... exciting times for all involved. :roflol:

Man, lets just say, you don't even deserve a response.

Man, lets just say.... that even if they passed out 20$ bills to every one that attended the games, some of you would still have something to complain about. I'll admit that I don't know what the complaints or the problems are because I'm looking at our bracket and see nothing wrong all the way to the Big Dance. So Big Boy... why don't you enlighten me since you have it all together. My guess is that you won't bother because you yourself don't know what the issues are. Some people just like complaining and drama. :thumb:

Well Cap1 the TSSAA itself agrees with most of us in this thread that the system was flawed since they are at this moment correcting their mistakes. We had undefeated district winners seeded 6th ; 5-5 3rd seeds playing each other while one bracket over 1 and 2 seeds played one another. Sometime was screwed up.
