  1. Congrats Melrose. Great season Spartans. Wow, what a fun year for High School BB in Memphis this was. Maybe the best talent citywide ever. And it sounds like next year will be a humdinger as well. See ya'll in about 5 months or so.
  2. I agree with you there, what a great BB season it has been, maybe one of the very best here in Memphis. I hope the two Melrose players are ok. Are we sure Rucker broke his ankle ? Spartans by 3, down to the wire ( I went there, my kids went there, what do you expect )
  3. I hope you guys are wrong about the two of them being hurt. Congrats Melrose, see you guys tomorrow ! Great season Bearden.
  4. Way to go Spartans. All Memphis final !
  5. Congrats Melrose. You and the Spartans need to sick to business today so we can have another all Memphis final.
  6. You are right, I was just focusing on this weeks bracket and not thinking about getting out of the Region. Man, what a great year this has been for Memphis bball. Not sure when there has been this much talent spread around so many schools.
  7. Nal stuman89 they both will move on to the Sub-state where they both can win and go to the state thx terop, guess I was not thinking about this correctly. So even the loser of this Thursdays game moves on ?
  8. Wow, way to go Spartans, and congrats to Melrose. Its a shame only one team can go to the state from here.
  9. I agree, there was NO mismatch. I don't see how anyone can look at Maryville's season and say a single thing against the way the got to the finals. They went trhough the "best of the best" by most people's account. BTY, looks like the poster you were referring to is out of Jackson...... I agree with you. We appreciate the congrats from the Maryville fans, you guys have been Champs over a long period of time, and your courteous remarks are appreciated. Trust me when I say that the vast majority of WSHS fans that Spartansfan and I know do know how to win, ( and lose ) , with class.
  10. From a Spartan fan here, Congrats to MUS. What a year ! Let's hope for a three-pete.
  11. Gee , maybe this is that " trash " that I talked before the game Volunteercoach .... Maybe you just need to sleep it off . I would just like to say that the WSHS fans/Alums that I have talked to have nothing but respect and admiration for Maryville. Good night to all.
  12. Happy for my Spartans of course. And it is nice to bring a trophy back to this part of the state. Maybe most important is that there were no serious injuries ( that I know of ) and to say to the kids of both teams " job well done " and to be proud of what you all accomplished this year. These memories will be with you for your lifetime. Personally, I think it was an honor to play a team with such a storied tradition as Maryville.
  13. Way to go Spartans ! And congrats on a fine season to a heck of a competitor in Maryville. I think it is an honor to have gotten to play a school like Maryville who has been there , done that, so many times. Hats off to both schools !
  14. It is a minor point perhaps but a players' family can move a few miles or so in Memphis and depending upon the exact street be in either WSHS's , or Ridgeway's , or Kirby's, or Overtons', or East's ( and so forth ) district. And my understanding is a long as it is a valid move into a different school distrcit a kid does not have to sit out. I only point that out because it may not be as disruptive as one might think for a family to move ( assuming legitimately ) a mile or two down away into an Apartment for example if they want their child to attend a particular school. Edit: I am not sure about the transfer rules now that I think about it. I will try to look it up.
  15. I couldn't resist : Dan Fouts: The waterboy just needed some water! Brent Musburger: Wow Dan, did you come up with that all by yourself? Dan Fouts: Shut up, Brent.
  16. Unfortunately Bobby is too old to play high school ball now. But we would have taken him !
  17. Well no, I would not be happy to be hung with a new rope. But I am happy as heck to be traveling to Cookeville this year. WSHS has been knocking on this particular door a long time. Win or lose I am proud of these guys.
  18. Spartan fan here. I do not know who made that statement, but either they were just flapping their gums, or they do not follow TN high school football very closely. Anyway hats off to both teams for making to the finals and let's hope for an injury free game.
  19. Great game and season Brentwood. And congrats Spartans !
  20. Spartansfan: You already know that I noticed. It's quite astounding when you sit back and think about it. I knew the Districts teams were strong but for all four to make it to the quarterfinals is really something to appreciate. Good luck to everyone this week. And let's pray for no injuries.
  21. Did anyone happen to see the White Station game ? I am curious as to how they played.
  22. Man, lets just say, you don't even deserve a response. Man, lets just say.... that even if they passed out 20$ bills to every one that attended the games, some of you would still have something to complain about. I'll admit that I don't know what the complaints or the problems are because I'm looking at our bracket and see nothing wrong all the way to the Big Dance. So Big Boy... why don't you enlighten me since you have it all together. My guess is that you won't bother because you yourself don't know what the issues are. Some people just like complaining and drama. Well Cap1 the TSSAA itself agrees with most of us in this thread that the system was flawed since they are at this moment correcting their mistakes. We had undefeated district winners seeded 6th ; 5-5 3rd seeds playing each other while one bracket over 1 and 2 seeds played one another. Sometime was screwed up.
  23. Clearly there is not enough flexibility in forming these brackets to provide decent matchups across the board. There is zero justification for some of these seedings.
