  1. Took a look at the TSSAA.org web site as far as where the game is played. It plainly says that if Elizabethton wins, the next game will be at the winner of the TN High/South field. Think everyone knows where that is That's the TRUTH from the TRUTH!
  2. All I know is that Elizabethton is vulnerable, but TN High has proven themselves to be just as vulnerable also. Don't know what will happen Friday night but I know it won't be like the last game they played.
  3. Well, somebody might as well get this going. I'd say this will make for some interesting reading. Thoughts & Predictions here while you can get'em.
  4. I'd not want to talk about the future if I were you guys. I understand that and I'm sure you do too. THS 42 South 17 Thanks G
  5. THSViking, I know you guys have a heck of a JV team as does Elizabethton, but I'm still trying to figure out just how the Bossman's kid and the rest of the freshmen will line up against either of us next year? Nothing against South, but their JV team had quite a bit of problems. I know Betsy spanked them JV wise (30-13 and took it easy on them late in the game). How did South JV do against TN. High? That will tell more about the next couple of years.
  6. Congradulations to Nidiffer on his signing with Kentucky to play baseball. Good baseball family. THS 42 South 17
  7. Just about forgot about the best part. Rainy, cold, slick field...... Cyclones 28 East 14
  8. G, Last years game was 13-12, I think. I believe that is the game when everyone was told about Coach Jenkins cancer (he passed away just before this season began) and Betsy fans and players were a very upset. It was an ugly game by both teams, but East did well enough to take the win. God bless Tommy Jenkins.
  9. No problem being a Jason Witten fan. He is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. Well, heck, I'm a Boodle Clark fan. C Great athlete and a pleasure to have been around a competitor like him (summer baseball). Havn't heard much since he signed. Ever wander how Kentucky found him.... of course he signed pro before getting there. Hummm..... Anyway, back to the AP. I would think that TN. High would have had more in there. I really didn't watch it that close, but THS has sooo many players that can step up this year that the only problem I can see is trying to pick one out. They are trully an awesome club this year. I do know this, those boys have earned the right to call themselves champions thru thier work ethic. That kind of work ethic dissappeared around Eliz. but is resurfacing, thank goodness. The guys coming back next year are trully exicted about getting into the weight room now. As far as tradition goes, TN High has the same expectations as the Cyclones and DB. Year in and year out, these are the teams that are in the picture in the end. It's expected every year. As far as predicting on week 3..... going to stay away from that one. Just hate to look ahead when there is business to take care of beforehand. You understand that. Good luck!!
  10. No strings being pulled by the AP. They seem to recognize talent and good games. You pretty much answered the tradition question. Heck, it's been going on here for decades, not just a few years. The second game was a tough one for such a young team, but you might want to check just what set up THS scores. THS did not have a very strong offensive game that night due to the defense (which is young also). THS did put up 35 points and their defense is probably the best in the conference. Hats off to them, they have represented the conference well. Enjoy this year, Betsy only graduates 10 seniors. Just gonna get better around here.
  11. There will be a season rematch of TN. High vs. Elizabethon. Whether Eads plays or not will not make enough difference. He didn't make the difference in the game last time East and Betsy played.
  12. From what I heard, Eads had was hurt before the Greeneville game and he did a heck of a job. I just don't see him missing the Elizabethton game. Just won't happen. Prepare Cyclones! thumb
  13. DP, Cherokee had 3 wins against one win teams and 3 wins against teams at .500 or better. Elizabethton's schedule was loaded by teams that beat IMAC teams, including Eliz over Greeneville at Greeneville. TRUTH is, I just don't see a blow out by either team. I think Betsy will go home a winner by a slim margin. Just seeking the TRUTH and it will appear Friday night.
  14. Like the way your talkin G. Guess P is staying???? Very important to the Cyclone future in football and I heard over the weekend that he is giving up basketball. What's up with that? GO CYCLONES!!!
  15. Truth is going with the Cyclones in a thriller, 21-20
  16. Both of those guys are extremely dangerous. Gash's power and Lollar, well, you just can't get your hands on him. Is Gash going to be able to play?
  17. Hey Scott, you might want to check on South's JV. The freshman impact is 1-2 years off probably. Think the Elizabethton JV "got by" South.
  18. Just for the grins of it, who do you think will hit the jack-pot next year and why?
  19. Good to have someone like "P" to come in for the pick me up. Missed seeing him play a bit of safety, which he always does well at. I agree that he should have stayed in because ole #7 couldn't get anything going. Nothing. Smith should have stayed in while the team was moving, but so it goes. They stalled out three more times with 7 after Smith guided them to a TD. Jeffers needs confidence going into next week, but playing him when he has nothing builds desperation. Hopefully he'll have it back for Cherokee, but if he doesn't, they shouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger for Smith. He is very much a capable QB. Good games from Bowers, Peters and Nave. Peters and Nave are there every game for the Cyclones. Ugly, but a win. Work harder in practice, I guess, because the Cherokee team is for real. Thanks Preston for being there when they need you! The sideline isn't where you belong. Don't let it get you down. You're a player and we all do appreciate you and your patience. thumb
  20. Just what can you do? There are a couple of consistant practice missers that don't seem to get any disipline that I've heard of, course I'm not there to see all the time. Disipline has been a problem for Betsy football since Rider left and it is still a problem, but it is not only at Elizabethton, is it? Seems to me that life is full of bs politics and we had all better get used to it. If a coach has a problem with a parent, it seems to be the kid who pays the price sometimes. Just what can you do if your not in the school system? One parent said he'd move. Is that the answer or is it a cop-out? Go from one school full of politics to another full of politics. I can't believe that it is an exclusive Betsy problem.
  21. I concur. Jeffers has finally found a comfort zone. His last two games have been good. Fewer mistakes and more conformative play calling has helped him. I think McKinney woke up. Still like the little guy at QB. He can do it all. Unfortunately for Smith, Jeffers was allowed the time to develope instead of him. We can ride the Jeffers train, but I'd keep Smith tuned up, which he has had some plays every game. Just not enough. Smith keeps knocking them dead in Monday action. He has star power, but needs at least two more inches and 25 lbs. before next year. Until his time, I am behind Jeffers and company. Now on with the Cougars. Don't underestimate anyone. Never. By the way, you coaches are even doing better, but I'd look at the defense a bit. Good job. Got a little sloppy last night. 44 & 34 were big in Mountain City. thumb
  22. The best JV squads in East TN. are from Dobyns-Bennett and Elizabethton. Period. Line up 11 (12 if you need them) and they will play anybody any where. Guess maybe we'll find out when they play varsity. Looking forward to it.
  23. VD, My point is that he has been successful at each step of coaching football for Elizabethton. Grad or not, I'd have him than several of the others. There are good coaches on the staff, but I agree with you. Too many with too many different opionions. Get on the same page, which is something that has been echoed for 3-4 years. Anyway, it is a mute subject and nothing will change. Just conversation. Dream2Achieve, I disagree with the notion that our OC does a good job. You would find a few thousand who disagree with you. I'm one of those who believe in playing younger personnel if they can help the team. They can help the team, but are overlooked, because there are older guys to play. Play who gets the job done is my opionion. The coaches limit the offense by the personnel they choose to use, is the point.
