  1. I noticed in the Riverdale Tournament this weekend that the Shooters (Morgan/Roane County team) are entered as a 15-under team, but they have a 17-year old that is a junior from Kingston. Will they check birth certificates at this tournament? They may have a couple of players that are too old besides him. I have a nephew that plays in Scott County and we have had some trouble against that team in the past.
  2. People down South of the River need to get their pick-up trucks ready to go to Memphis this year, cause they are State Bound.
  3. Helton is a tremendous athlete, but he can't make it at Powell.

    Rockwood

Is Daddy Gilmore still setting the pitching rotation in Rockwood? I know he has been the brains behind their glory ride the last four seaasons.
  5. You might want to check the 2 schools Marcum was at in Georgia. He left after the Howard and McGhee girls were leaving the middle school in Wartburg. He knew the cupboard would be pretty bare and left for greener pastures. I have been told by numerous parents, teachers and administrators from Scott and Morgan that Marcum was very lacking in the class room. I think he did a good job at the two local teams, but he has some baggage and that has to be considered.
  6. I commend Unaka on a job well done. Even though the tournament was the weakest I have ever witnessed, the team has a gold ball to shine in Unaka.
  7. To be honest I really can't believe anybody is giving Chad Marcum a chance. He has been fired at two schools in less than a year. From all accounts and reports, he doesn't have a very good reputation as a teacher. Granted he has won some games at the junior high level. But considering he was coaching at Huntsville (largest county school in Scott) and Wartburg (largest county school in Morgan), he should have won some games. He was told 3 years ago when he applied for the Wartburg high job to get certified at the high school level, and it appears they are telling him the same thing at Scott, so maybe he will eventually learn to do the things he needs to get done. I think he would make a good high school coach, but do you allow the students to suffer in the class room if he is hired? He always seems to try and get a good sitaution, and then get out of town when it looks like the talent might not be there. I guess time will only tell. As for Eddie Kreis, his best days are behind him. Rusty Yaden needs more time to learn the game and mature as a coach. Newport would make the best candidate, but he might be content with helping build Oneida from the middle school program. That is just my two cents worth.
