  1. Siegel had a great win over Warren County last night! Extra innings again but Siegel pulled out the win this time. Josh McKenzie pitched a great game and the whole team really battled hard to get the win.
  2. not sure if all these scouts are "better teams" but I know Yankees was one...pretty good in my book.
  3. About 20 scouts was watching Price last night. They've increased every game. Do these other players have that many at their games? There was negotiating in the parking lot after the game.
  4. Blackman Freshman finished their season 8 - 0 this weekend in Lebanon while winning the Freshmen District tournament. They are a great group of athletes and have played as a team, and had fun, all season despite the troubles with Blackman's varsity. Coach Jason Lancaster is to be commended for leading the group and staying focused during difficult times. Great Job!!
  5. Chris1, Please don't criticize "all" us Blackman boosters/parents all the way from West Tn. You haven't been here. There were 5 kids that showed up on the day that the team was supposed to boycott Coach Greene and mine was one of them. My husband went to the school administration in support of Doug...probably the only parent. At least one other player supported Doug in the paper and there are other parents/bosters who support Doug now and will in the future, IF he comes back next year. The majority of the boosters don't want Doug back (mostly the upperclassmen's parents) but please don't put us "all" in that category. There are plenty of freshmen, sophomore and juniors that want to play baseball and are trying to move past what happened.
  6. I've read all the opinions and speculations on this topic over the last couple weeks and have tried to refrain from giving my opinion but I guess I reached my limit...somewhat like Doug. Here's mine... On the night of the "alleged incident" I saw Doug before the game and you could easily see on his face and in his manerism that he was about to snap. He was not himself. I agree that some players do react better and needs a little "vocal motivation" but not all kids can handle it. My son has been grabbed by the shirt a few times. He's a very laid back kid and he reacts well to this as long as the "vocal motivation" is warranted and somewhat educational. The player who was grabbed in the dugout on April 4th did nothing to warrant it. He was grabbed because he was the first person in sight. THis worries me and the look on Doug's face that night worried me. I felt like Coach Greene had held too much inside for too long and it all blew up that night. In my opinion, he tries to please too many people (mainly parents). Coaching is not about keeping everyone happy. If Doug does return next year there will be plenty of players left for him to coach and plenty of parents who will support him. Blackman High School will not crumble because of this. The school administration can handle upset parents...I'm sure they've been doing it for years, maybe just not under the "media" spotlight. I feel the suspension for the remainder of the year is a good decision. LET'S MOVE ON NOW!
