  1. I've watched Coker since his freshman year and man, what a waste of God-given talent to potentially destroy his career. I was watching an Antioch game years ago and he had shown up late for practice one day, so he didn't get to play until the third quarter and he still piled up so many yards in the last 2 quarters - it was ridulous. I hope he drags his butt home and gets his act cleaned up and fast and try to salvage what any eligibility he may have left to play. I don't have any sympathy for anyone who gets 4 shots to make it right and then screw it all up. /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

  2. I've been around Sumner County all of my life. I've watched powerhouse programs with legendary players rise and fall. There are many exceptions here, but in my perspective just in the past 10 years, it seems like in our neck of the woods, many of our football programs have not had the numbers or depth coaching staffs had become accustomed to and have had to develop new and creative ways to work, coach and mentor. (Gallatin and White House - you are exceptions with the numbers). I'm not counting jerk coaches or rules violations here - staffs which have struggled to keep coaches on the sideline who are not tenured don't know from year to year who's gonna be staying or leaving. If you're lucky enough to be able to keep a team of coaches together for any length of time, you're going to develop a quality program and quality players. When you've got a kid who loves the game and playing it all of his life and all through high school working his butt off to get better and fight for a position, when a coach leaves and new ones come on board, you can't tell me it doesn't affect a player - they're the ones on the field executing the plays they may have known like the back of their hand, or just got introduced to a new system this week and a new system next week. If memory serves me right, I think the football players who graduated from Beech last year had experienced 3 head coaching changes since the beginning of their freshman year. Coach Hatfield and company do a great job and have for many years. Do I feel like coaches call the wrong plays? Absolutely. I haven't lost a game sitting in the stands since I've been watching football. Would I devote my time day in and day out coaching? Absolutely not. Don't have what it takes to do it. Hats off to Coach Hatfield. An old-school coach told me years ago - when you're winning, you're the best coach ever; when you're losing, you're scum of the earth. It's amazing what 10 games a year can do for your career. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

  3. I don't know if this is directed at me or not but I asure you that I am not a 30+ year Gallatin Green Wave "fairweather fan". However I am a realist. And I don't like the odds. Can Gallatin win? Of course, if they tackle better, block better and can line up in the right formations with out having to call a timeout 1 min into the game. Will I be there? Yes, I would not be anywhere else dressed in all of my Gallatin attire. Will I cheer for Gallatin? Heck yea!! I do every week. And have for years!!! Will I when most on here no longer go to games or even care about highschool football? Plan on it!! There have many posters who have gone by the wayside. All of this Hendersonville trashtalk that we have been reading will be gone when Gallatin starts dominating again. It did in 2001 and will after this year too. Gallatin is not 40-11-1 against Hendersonville for no reason. So if you did call me out (and I don't know if you did) , I never will stop supporting the PROGRAM. Gallatin however, has got some serious issues right now, from players to coaching. That is a fact..not fiction. This team quit last week and everybody saw it. But lets move on.....

Hendersonville has got a pretty good offense being able to run and throw. Watson has been making good decisions from the QB spot. What makes Hendersonville even more dangerous is Roper. Roper is a classic Commando fullback. Fast and tough. He may even be faster than some of the previous fullbacks that Hendersonville has had lately. He will be hard to stop. I also hear that they are running more speed sweeps this year which is a change from the traditional wing-t that we are used to. Hendersonville's defense is spotty at best. They have given up some yardage and points this year. Roper again is the man on defense from the middle linebacker postion. Gallatin will have to mix it up well to move the ball consistantly. However I think we will score some on Hendersonville. On defense if we can tackle at the point of contact than we could surprise them by putting them in long yardage situations. Ingham may be the ace card. I would like to see us throw more down field as well. I think opening them up with the long ball early could bold well for our running game. The key to this game is not getting behind by more than 2 scores. If we do...well...

    Well said.

It's interesting to see how people react when seasons struggle. Fair-weather fans, they are there, but you don't have to tell those boys in green and gold right now how painful it is to lose. And yet, day in and day out, they show up on the practice field after school giving their bodies a beating for the love of the game and the pride and tradition they represent. Just think of the abuse these guys are getting from their own peers while they're in class. And yet, they play on. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

  4. Golfendude you need to give Beech some credit. Remember the last time a 6-4A tem played them on homecoming? well this is Mt juliets homecoming this week I believe.

    LOL - Bucs could be developing a reputation for being a "home"coming wrecker........... /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

  5. This is going to be one heck of a ballgame and I agree with others that it's going down to the wire. I think Da Bears win it in the end, but it's gonna be on some sort of a fluke play. I think both teams will be living in ice coolers and on aspirin for a couple of days afterwards. Great game to be a spectator! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

  6. What year did Taylor Bradford graduate from Antioch? Our sympathies and prayers go out to his family. What a senseless tragedy.

If they're playing at Gallatin, Gallatin gets the win in this game with the 12th man fan base. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

  7. Mount Juliet is indeed moving up as well as building a new highschool. Station Camp is moving up as well possibly to 5-A to compete with Hendersonville and Gallatin. Beech is on the bubble but could elect to go up to 5-A as well as Portland to make a Sumner/Wilson County 5-A region. At least that is what I am hearing.

Wow - I can't believe that Station Camp is possible for taking the leap to 5A already. I think Beech will go up next year. If they do, it'll be quite the initiation for both schools. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

  8. without a passing attack, starting qb is out, fumble two should be wins away already.... beech is not good... if i were coaching there would be 8 man fronts all night long... if you can tackle, they can't score... this team hasn't been very good in a long while... this region isn't very good... i don't know how good clarksville is, but if they don't fumble expect them to win by at least 14 pts.

    Still saying that now? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

  9. one thing that you guys shouldnt forget is whether or not Amos, QB for Beech is going to play. Does anybody know how beat up he is? I'll pick Beech with Amos, without, it gets ugly. But theres still Allen, the best back i've seen since Coker.

Haven't heard any updates on QB, but sure hope he's okay. 28 is a great kid. Looking forward to seeing him add more numbers. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

  10. I am picking Beech to pick up the win in this one. I picked the Buccaneers to beat Hendersonville & lose to both Kenwood & Station Camp. They did all three of these things. Beech has played a very brutal schedule and it continues in the upcoming weeks with games remaining with Clarksville, White House, Mt. Juliet, & Rossview. I believe in the end though that Coach Crabtree's bunch will be a playoff team come November. Clarksville would be a great win to start a push to the postseason.

    Beech: 17

    Clarksville: 14

Hey Footballen, the Governors played very well last night and had their opportunities to beat one of the upper level teams in the OVC (TSU). I believe APSU is more than ready for the OVC and if they can consistently get their players from home then they'll win the conference within the next two years (2008 & 2009).

I agree, the Bucs have played a brutal schedule lately. Helpful hint for the rest of the season: sticky gloves for every offensive player on the field........ /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

  11. Attitude is the difference. It used to be that most kids growing up in Gallatin wanted to play for the Green Wave. When you finally were playing for the Green Wave then it became not wanting to be the team that did not do well. As a former player, our attitude was we were not going to lose period. We were reminded by the coaches each week that we were playing for our fathers, brothers, uncles, and anybody else that ever wore the Geen and Gold. Defense is all about attitude. The players have to bring the attitude that they are going to win the battle every play. The defense has got to go 100mph every play. I think the defense will get better.

Well said. Pride and tradition with a team or school creates the "want to" legacy role. It's kinda like gas for a car - car won't run without it. I think that as Gallatin continues to explode in growth, it may be creating watered-down versions of gas. Pride and tradition are still there, but has to work harder and find other avenues to continue its legacy. Teams of the 80's aren't the same as teams in the 21st century. You have to adjust - the players are different, coaching is different, motivation is different. Gallatin has such a tremendous history - just because they having growing pains with this young bunch doesn't mean the legacy is over. Good luck Wave

  12. Sounds to me like you and kenwood are looking ahead. That can be very dangerous. I would worry about the game this friday. That is what Beech is doing.

This is going to be another great game to watch. I'm afraid I'm on the fence right now on who pulls out the W.

  13. Sonny Gray - Smyrna

    Navery Moore- BGA

    Will Clinard - East Robertson

    Jacob Stallings = Brentwood Academy

All can throw in the 90's

    I didn't mean to leave them out as well. Anybody know how Navery's rehabbing? /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

  14. WHO WILL BE THE TOP HURLER NEXT YEAR??

    Mason Forbis of Beech has a CANNON - He's throwing 92-93 mph this summer. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

  15. Two words for you Cody Langston!!!! THis kid works is tail off, in the weight room. He is respected by the young guys and the ones who left him from the past two years. He is also respected by the coaching staff. He is the kid you build your program around. He leads by example, he is one tough dude. watch for him on friday nights he will not be hard to find.

He's been a great player since middle school. What does the senior class look like these days? Since it's not officially football season, I've forgotten who's coming back for both teams. I had heard the Commandos had had a couple of injuries - HATE to see that in the spring, but hopefully enough time to heal before the season starts. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

  16. QUOTE(Lost Old Dad @ Jun 12 2007 - 08:02 AM) 826474141[/snapback]I am willing to bet we see it used EARLY this year on TV no less when Smyrna plays Siegel on Saturday night in week zero on CSS. I hope the announcers are up on it when it has to be explained to the TV audience.

Yet another instance where the TSSAA is being politically correct. I guess next year we will see football replaced with by a spirited game of pillow fighting. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

    Now that was funny!
