Before we knight Young the next "Percy Harvin"....lets just see how he performs on the big stage at the East/West All-Star game. Lets see what he does...and even in practice he is going to get to run against a pretty good defense with a couple 7AAA Linebackers (Dunaway (Siegel) & Thompson (Blackman)) It wouldn't surprise me if Jeremiah Bryson started in front of him...wow that would be a kick in the face.

For most of the state he has a lot to prove. So after that game, we can accurately give praise.

Congratulations to Devrin. He had a season for the ages and will always have his spot in the history of TSSAA. His recognition is rightfully deserved. Not only is he an outstanding athlete on the field, but even a better young man off it. Here is to hoping that he will have continued success on the gridiron of Shield Watkins Field for the next four years. Congrats DY!!!

Ok....everyone can look back at this post in a year or two..and you will see that I am right.

Young is WAY to small to be a SEC RB..he may be a returner..but highly unlikely...

If MR. Football winner Gaston Miller (Riverdale) could never get on the field at Vanderbilt....I promise you ..Young will never see the field..and will prolly transfer..

Riverdale will win by as much as they want in every game up to the semi finals. Quad 2 is a JOKE. However they should have a good game against Maryville in the semis. Someone start that thread now...the other games up to that will be a joke.

And the winner of that game will play whoever comes out of Quad 3 for the championship.

I know they will be opening on the road at Blackman because of the stadium, but how do they look so far this fall.

Heard he shuffled coaches around. Brought in a Defensive Coordinator..still waiting to bring in a Offensive Coordinator until summer. He brought, i think, like 3 coaches from the staff at MTCS.

Should be interesting year, and I dont think u will see much spread. Prolly going to look a lot like his teams when he was at Smyrna.

Independence comes to Blackman May 8th for their first scrimmage and then the website said they are going to Bob Jones High School in Alabama for the second scrimmage.

I heard that coach Shad was completely cleaning house. You know coach the QB coach will come, Im sure he will prolly bring one from MTCS and i heard a couple from Smyrna. Cant wait to see what happens.

and a little pet peeve of mine is when people talk about thing that they have no clue about. It is pretty funny to me how when Paul Johnson is at Navy and Georgia Southern he is running the wing-t but now all of the sudden since he is at Georgia Tech it is no longer the wing-t. Explain to me why they line up in 300 and 400 wing-t set jsut about evry play if that is not what they are running. Also their blocking scheme runs right along with wing-t basics with the down blocks and a kick block. Yes they do run the triple option but it is out of the wing-t.

Guys...lol..GT runs the flexbone.....2 tight slots and a FB.....you see orbit motion with the flexed slots....a traditional wing t has a wing (positioned outside a TE) and either 2 backs (traditional wing-t) or one back and a tight slot on the weak side...

They have their similarities, but Urban Myers spread in Florida has a lot of single wing ideas in it, but its still called the spread.

You need to go back and look at your history again. Ga. Southern ran the flex bone, Air Force runs the flexbone and Ga. Tech runs the flex bone. You can call it Diptidedo if you want to but it is wishbone with the 2 halfbacks up nearer the line then they were when the wishbone first started..they were in the back field bahind the tackles.

It would make plenty of sense for Hester to apply at Blackman. Blackman is a better school to teach at, Blackman has more talent coming back, the facilities are newer and better. I did hear he did apply.

Well the talent could be down if what I hear about Wells is correct, a few of the starters may be following their coach across town.

And about the facilities, Blackman doesnt have anything other than a stadium....doesnt LaVergne have a field house and stuff??

I do have to agree with the school environment though, Blackman much better then Lavergnes

If the coaches play Crocker for one full game and let him throw 20 times (not the same play over and over). I will bet he will put no less than 14 points on the board in passing td's. Which is 7 points more than your total average. I will also wager that the running game will double in yardage "in any Blackman game played so far" due to the defense's not loading the box. How bout it coaches? give the Senior a shot for once.

 

If he is unproductive and Blackman fails to put 14 points on the board my son and I will leave the team and I will never again log on to Coacht. If he does prove to move your offense and get you 14 pts passing all I ask is that you consider him your starter for the next game.

From what i understood from one of the parents that attend practices...is that he wasnt at practice all week last week....they all thought he had already quit....is he going to come out of retirement and save the day??? will a o-line block for someone who took a week off?...they prolly wouldnt block for anyone...they r aweful...lol

we had great individual effort on blckman but the thing is that patton and bowers runnig the ball is not going to do it by itself in the spread offense

Once again guys blackmans not been in the spread...and i could prolly see them not in it again...with the way patton and bowers are running the ball...from what ive seen ...they are averaging over 5 yards a carry.

TE, 2 back is prolly what they will stay in the rest of the year

Ive not always seen eye to eye with the coaching staff...you can look at my posts over the years....but with this.....i can prolly understand why somethings are different with players...the player that missed a practice has been on the team for 4 years...the staff knows him....the new kid is under a whole different microscope..the coaches really dont know him...and he prolly came to the team with 2 strikes already against him...for his actions at his previous school and getting kicked off of that team....i dont know...just my thoughts

Its good but Blackmans is better (www.blackmanfootball.com)..Wilson centrals is also good..Smyrna has a pretty good one...but Oaklands and Siegels arent very good..while Lebanons..hasnt been updated in a while

Speaking of defending 5a champions, any word on the scrimmage with their whipping boys in last years 5a buttkicking?

Did Smyrna scrimmage some one?...I assume that would mean 7 on 7....how did they do...they will have to be able to pass or teams will load 9 in the box to stop Bryson...which is something teams have not been able to do in a LONG time...since Smyrna had Wolke and Sonny and Rod.

I still have to agree with 2priceless on this one because since he was at QB and since he was the best athelete other teams did know that he was going to run the ball 90% of the times... so other teams did key on him and maybe thats why blackman is 6-24 the last three years

10 of those losses were in 2005..Blackman was AWFUL..not one player would have started anywhere else in the county except for wallace and mimms.

and Blackman D has been pretty bad up till last year..it has gotten better..

so I wouldnt put all those 24 losses on the back of wallace..

But again he is gone and since this is a smyrna board...do u think the offensive coordinator will try to run smyrnas QB as much as he did wallace...

I heard rumors about SMyrna going spread and putting the meadows kid at QB and using him like wallace.

By the way, if he had the 2000 yds that was claimed earlier, why didn't he get the offensive MVP of the region or was up for Mr. Football?

Actually, I looked at Blackmans website and here are his stats for the 2007 season:

1081 Yards Passing

855 Yards Rushing

So that equals out to:1936 Total Yards

Now I did say "he did was go for about 2000 rushing and passing"....so he didnt hardly get 2000 but very close...And cmon was he going to beat out Rod or Sonny....so of course he wasnt going to get MVP.

personally i would have had kevin shepard at QB... i would rather have the best person for the position and not just the best player on the team ... i mean grant it wallace is a very good athlete and was the best athlete on the team but i just dont think that QB is his best position i think he would have been better off as a slot or even a RB.. but not QB

LOL.cmon..he never even won a game as a freshman QB..I think they went 1-7 when he was a freshman and Kirkland wheeler started at QB the game they won
