1. How a team plays at the begining of the season to the end can be different.

Look at Livingston Acad. 5 loses and still won the championship. They started to play much better in the play-off's, even beating teams they had lost to earlier.

Typically it takes longer into the season for offenses to fully develope. Defenses typically have the advantage eary in the season.

At championship time...........Maryville is DEFINANTLY not a 20 point better team then Alcoa. PERIOD!

Yea, IF,IF,IF...But IMO, with a healthy Sykes and Warren, maryville losses................. :D

How many times do I have to get on here and say this, I love Alcoa with all of my heart, but they got DISMANTLED against the Rebs!!! We had no shot from the opening kickoff!!!! 41-21 is a whippin, and GQ could have put up at least 70!!! So please stop saying that Alcoa would have, could have, and should have beaten Maryville! Based on that performance, they looked just plain scared and heartless!!! After saying all of that, Alcoa is still my alma mater!! GO TORNADOES!! :D

  2. Maryville would beat Alcoa no matter when they played them. Maryville dominated that game from start to finish. I get tired of hearing the excuses also. Every year this happens. Maryville beats Alcoa like a drum and some of the Alcoa fans will say Maryville couldn't beat Alcoa now.

I could understand Alcoa fans thinking this if Maryville sqeaked out those games but every game Maryville has won since the 2001 season has been convincing.

You're right Ron! I've been an Alcoa fan since birth, and I wish our fans would stop making excuses!! I told myself after this years game that if Alcoa didn't beat Maryville after all that hype then I wouldn't say anything else bad about the Rebs!!! They Dominated that game from the start, and they could have scored 91 on us!! I don't care when we play Maryville, the outcome will still be the same as long as GQ and the staff the there!!

  3. I saw Alcoa play tonight in the state championship, and could not believe the talent spread all over the field on offense, defense, special teams, etc.............skill positions are totally unbelievable!!!!!!! I have been around plenty of big time programs, and watched many big time programs play, but can tell you this group of players could play with anyone. DI players all over the field. High possibility they are the best team in the state in ANY classification or division........two of their division I athletes didn't even play.........if Maryville beat them by 20, I give my props to Maryville.....that is scary..............

You are right! Alcoa almost always has the better talent, but Maryville has the better program!! Good luck to the Rebs and oak ridge today!! Lets show the state what brand of football we play down in Blount County and Oak Ridge!!!!! Can you believe 2 schools from the same county with a combined soon to be 16 gold balls!!!!!!

  4. Nice.

    Congratulations Alcoa!

Now that the game is over, would you mind cheering for your cross town "friends"?

....and then the "Radiation Raiders" in 5A?

Then when the celebrating is over, take a relaxing visit to the new Blount Count Historical Musem in the old library bldg.

    Reguards to the Board,

    Mapp

Congrats to the Might Tornadoes!! Now lets get ready for the 3 peat!!! :D

  6. I would say seth johnson, its hard to compete with his 4.28 speed, plus being 6'2 220 also helps

If this kid runs a legit 4.28 then I run about a 4.00!! Come on man the kid might be fast, but don't exaggerate on his speed. I consider myself pretty fast, but I wouldn't even lie and say that I ran a 4.2 forty!! :P

  7. Alcoa should just stay where they are. Let's not make this years team into more than they really are.

It is crazy when people get on here and say a team should move up because they happen to be on a good run for a year or two.

Here you go again FB!! You get on here and talk about Alcoa not being a good team year in and year out. Correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe Alcoa has 6 gold balls and the Rebs have 8!!! So why can't someone suggest Alcoa to move up? They seem to be the top dogs in 2a?? to me 3a is the weakest class in the state anyway!

  8. Like i've said a million times, 3A is the easiest division in the state.

    825745488

I agree with you on this!! Fulton is by far the weakest team I've seen in a long time!! They reminded me of a middle school team with the toss sweeps!! How are they back to back champions?? I guess 3a is that weak! Fulton wouldn't survive in our region!! :thumb:

  9. As a Alcoa alumni, 4 year fb player and spectator at Friday nights game, I would like to say let's get on with it. We got our butts handed to us like so many times before. I too was surprised but it happened and that's it. From the way Maryville played and the way Alcoa didn't play, we couldn't of won with two BW's. Maryville has a great team and will do well this year as will Aloca.  Good luck to all the county schools and lets all root them on.

    825732275

I agree with you, and even with BW we still would have lost because Reid was totally OUTCOACHED!! So Alcoa could have had T.O. and still got crushed! Reids game plan simply won't beat Maryville's with GQ calling the shots!! ;)

  10. If Cobb is really good why does Fieglar start over him? For a "D1 Prospect"  Fieglar looked clueless.  I mean his passes were off all night, I expected better throws.  On three occassions as I remember it, the Reciver had to wait or come back to the ball.  Or was he just having an off game IYO?

    825735561

I agree with you on this one!! I think Cobb should have come in for at least one series to see if he could establish anything!! Joei needed to sit and get his mind right, but he is a senior and you know how that can be! Hopefully the whole team will play some football on Friday! ;)

  11. Your mis-understanding Flashy.

He is not provoking...he is obvious very close to this team and sees what I see. An ALCOA team that had obviously got to much into the all the hype about how talented and wonderful they were. Big headed if you want to call it that?

As Flashy stated "they better find some heart" And quick! The same type of heart they had in the `2004 Championship game.

The team that showed up and played Maryville last Friday reminds me of the team that laid down against David Lipcomb in `2003. When it started to go in the others teams favor, they just quit trying.........

This team better quit believing everything they read in the paper, and here on the internet. There is only ONE way to prove your a great team....................and thats on the field!

All you Seniors better find that HEART, or its going to be over before you know it, and you'll always look back and wished you'd played every game like it was your last!

Save the "bomb-fires" parties till you bring back another championship. Then you'll have something to party about...............

Practice hard and make us believers again! :thumb:

Thanks BC! I was just stated the truth! The team much find that heart this week! I hope they do, because I will die an Alcoa fan and I would love for them to get back to the Boro!! Last week left me with some doubt about how bad they want another gold ball!! Good luck to them though! :thumb:

  12. On any given Sat Tennessee can beat anyone just like on eany given Friday any High School team can beat another.  Football is a fickel sport.  But the team who is ready to play is the one who is ready to win.  Living on past accomplishments or hype has its downside, getting beat in front of your supporters, they deserve better.  If your a player you owe it to your team to be ready to play period.

    825731994

Once again I will say this......I'm not that upset that we lost the game, but I am furious about the heart the players showed!! I love AHS to death, but that game made me wonder just how bad they want to get back to the Boro!!! People talk about our team (2000) having no discipline!! This team seems to have everything but discipline and HEART!!! I take nothing away from the Rebs ever again!! They come to play just about every night!!! Good luck to them on the rest of the season!! :thumb:

  13. Hey, I admit it.  We did got out-played and out-coached last night.  The Maryville team looked great on the field and our boys didn't get the job done.  But look how many towers they have on that team.  And didn't one just move here from Farragut?  Last year they had an 8th grader that was 6'5".  Can you give us county people come recipes you use?  I'd like to see some 6'5" and 6'6" kids in Alcoa and Blount Co.

    825730295

Lady please stop making excuses!! I'm a die, hard Alcoa fan and there is nothing we can say about that decapitation that we recieved last night!!!! Maryville showed that they've got lots of HEART!! No matter how much talent a teams has, without heart they can't win, because they don't BELIEVE they can win!! And by the way, GQ could have put up 60 on us, but he's that kind of coach and I respect him for that!! Good luck to the Rebs on the rest of the season!! :(

  14. Is this guy serious??  Did he just say that in 2000 alcoa had a better coaching staff then maryville??  I'm sorry but were you hit in the face with a shovel last night because something just isn't clicking right in your head if that's what you think... That was the year that all alcoa fans love to dream off because they won a game against a maryville team that had almost half of their starters suspsended... not just Wilkes.  You know what buddy, you go praise the signed poster of Meadows in your bedroom if that's what you want to worship... The guy that just happened to be coaching when Alcoa had one enormous fluke.  But last time I checked that was 5 years ago! And not to mention Maryville won state that year, and the next, and the next, and then again in 2004.  I hear there will be a meeting at the Duck Pond tomorrow to worship the great coach meadows!  And for all of us who live in reality.. if maryville gets up by enough at half time maybe we can catch WB's next loss!

    825729776

I'm not saying that Meadows was the best coach ever, but he knew how to use the talent that he had!! I bet he would have ran more than 5 or 6 plays last night!! Don't hate on Meadows because at least he had players with heart!! To me he was the best coach I had!! thumb

  15. You know what I'm talking about.  It's the name calling.  And the punches I'm throwing is at a couple of Maryville fans on this site using the name "idiot".  That's all wrong.  Punch at the coaches all you want, but go easy on the boys.

And speaking of, to the Meadow's fan out there--If he's such a great coach, why doesn't he have enough faith in his team to play Alcoa this year?  Is he pouting because he didn't get his position back?  I know a lot of people doesn't like Reid, but he did take the team to the State Championship game last year and brought a trophy home with him.  Maybe Alcoa should start recruiting????  Yeah, I said it!  My hats off to GQ, I wish we would have figured out how to do that first.

Sorry Govman for taking a stab at your coach.....truth hurts doesn't it?

    825730199

Reid will never beat the Rebs as long as GQ is calling the shots!! He was totally out coached in every aspect of the game!! Maybe he should run Duck more than seven times!! I still don't think that would have worked based on what I saw!! Those kids showed me that they have no heart when they get down!! They better improve very quickly!! Congrats to the Rebs and all the fans!! You won't hear me talk bad about you all ever again!!!! They are well coached and they BELIEVE!!!! thumb

  16. They'll roll this week and all of you will get on here and brag again but the next three games (at Fulton, at Loudon, at McCallie) could all result in losses for the Tornadoes if they do not improve.

    825730144

As much as I hate to say it, your right about this one!! They better find some heart on that team if they want to get back to the Boro!!! thumb

  17. I've just been told my a reliable source that Warren will sit for the game. It hurts me to hear this, but it's the truth! But there's a different game plan now, and it just may surprise a few folks. I know I was shocked when I was told what adjustments were made!! I'm still confident that Alcoa can win this game, but they will have to come out and make no mistakes!! thumb
