  1. I agree a coach's won/loss record does not indicate whether they are a great coach, there are too many other factors involved. Coach Stones' record was not why he was fired. However, a great coach or any for that matter does have the responsibilty to act professionally and show integrity and honesty.
  2. It really doesn't matter Basin can't help what region their placed in. However the non-region schedule is a joke and you know it. The only exception is for Coalfield and they waxed Basin, but what really is bad Basin dropped Polk to play Coalfield. They could have saved the county $500 in diesel by driving 30 minutes to Benton to get the same thing they drove 3 hrs. for in Morgan County!!
  3. Sportsgal, If it is so corrupt then why not get out, pack your stuff and move!! Good ol'boy thats what people are saying about Coach Stone. Ask yourself this question. Why would they want rid of Stone? Who would want the job after all of this crap that you people have stirred up? All because the school board and Director done their job by fireing someone that was insubordinate and breaking the rules. Do Copper Basin a favor and get over it, so they can find a coach and move foreward. P.S. All school systems are corrupt in one way or another so good luck in your search!!
  4. Why am I brown nosing or in the "click" as you say? Because I stand behind the decision to get rid of a coach that has done something wrong. If another coach done what Stone has done I would be for their dismissal also. As for me respecting "him" I can't respect someone that does not respect other's. I respect your opinion but you however cannot respect the opinions of others either (where did you learn that? ) . I stated facts and you came on here saying I was a know it all and acting childish, you are the one that is mad and upset about all of this. As stated earlier I do not care what happens to Stone one way or another he has made his bed he must lie in it. Copper Basin has some good coaches such as Todd Rollins and Darren when he was coaching. For the kids and people of Copper Basin I hope they find a good coach. You say you want to know, ask "him" he knows but he is not saying. You do know the truth but you don't want to believe it!! So in fact you are playing dumb!! As basincougar said "The proof is there and if you keep this up and the truth does come out it will be very hard for Coach Stone to find another coaching job - for his benefit, please stop. By the way, there are far less people here above the mountain that are for Coach Stone than you think. All anyone can see is the few that are for him. I applaud you sticking up for him but the truth is the truth and it is in black and white." As for where I went to school. I was smart enough to figure you out so you figure it out!
  5. I do not think I am above anyone. Was I right about you playing for Stone and was I right that you teach below the mountain? What else do you want to know the school board members names or maybe the DIRECTOR's name and number? Basincougar has it right if it gets out he will not find another job. I am glad to see that other people know the real truth. You say you don't want to know why he was fired but you keep asking. CONTRADICTION!!! LSUfan, I don't claim to be smart but I am not going to play dumb like you and some of the faithfull and pretend that Coach Stone is so righteous and has done nothing wrong. Your Welcome!! THE GREAT AMABALA
  6. If your region is so tough why was South Pittsburgh the only winner in the first round!! What about region 1,2 and 6. They are all better than 3.
  7. LSUfan, Why so bitter!! Could it be that you have hard feelings for people below the mountain? Maybe we both know the same things but you just don't want to believe it or admit it. As I said earlier I am not going to say what he has done on this board out of respect to the board of education and the Super.. So I am sorry that I am not going to take your bait about proving you wrong!! You say you "know all about teaching and education (especially in PC)" so I take it you are a teacher and from your comments about living below the mountain you must be teaching at PCHS, South Polk, or Benton . I hope you are teaching those children that people have to be responsible for their actions. As for the softball job if the problem was only football related then he would still have the softball position. However, it could be that they are waiting until the season is over since it was so close to the start of official practice. My guess is he may not be Coaching anything next year!! Also if you hate west Polk so much maybe you should transfer above the mountain where all is seen through closed eyes!!!
  8. Adminitstration is keeping quite because they have to. If you knew anything about School Law you would know this, but the average person just thinks that they are keeping quite because they have no good reason. I am not crying I could care less. As for region you have got to be kidding. LSUfan and you are unbelievable in saying that this region and schedule is tough. As far as TAFT goes its a youth prison they do not know who is going to play from week to week. Townes Co. hardly knows how to line up, then you throw in Silverdale, Grace, and Temple for region games. The only teams you play are South Pittsburgh and Coalfield even Whitwell is not the team that they used to be. Copper Basin should win 7-8 games every year. Maybe you and LSUfan should get together and do some research on how tough this region and schedule really is. You are only as good as the teams you play!!
  9. LSUfan, If you knew anything about teaching and education you would know that a teacher has tenure when they are hired for their fourth year. So a teacher can be fired from their coaching position and still teach in the school system, unless coaching a sport is tied to their job description. . If you know the FACTS as you stated you would know that he was warned of his wrong doings and continued to ignore the Super.. From your comments, I take it that you played for Coach Stone and must be one of his faithful followers that is oblivious to any of his indescretions. I have lived in the area for over 30 yrs. and know all too well how things work above and below the mountain. No matter what you want to believe Coach Stone has done something wrong, so you and some of the others above the mountain can keep your head in the sand and believe that he is a victim of a witch hunt. Let me ask you a question. How does it feel to have lived in the county for over twenty years and have never opened your eyes!!!
  10. LSUfan, I know alot more about how things work in Polk than you think. I do know the reason he was asked to resign, but due to the situation no one can state the reason. I never said he was fired from Basin for "inappropriate use of funds". Coach Stone was fired from Mcminn Central for unapproved use of funds which is not gossip but a fact. You need to get your facts straight. Another question to you. Why would the board members want him gone knowing they would come under so much criticism? Maybe it was because they had a reason! You and a whole bunch of other people need to open your eyes and see that there is more to it than politics. Coach Stone felt he was above the system and could do what he wanted even after being told of the problems. Yes, he was warned about the situation but chose to ignore the administration's demands and do what he wanted. As I stated earlier, some peoples problems are brought on by their own doings and decisions. No, I do not have any personal interest in the matter. I just know what the facts are and I am tired of people crying saying it is politics from below the mountain.
  11. The community does stand behind the program. However thier region is very weak except for South Pittsburgh. Three of the teams in the region were first or second year teams in TSSAA such as Silverdale Baptist, Grace Baptist and Temple. Taft is a youth prison in Pikeville and Andrews N.C. is very weak. Here is the schedule. http://www.copperbasinhighschool.com/football/schedule.htm
  12. Polk has had some problem's but so has every other county and school system in the state, this is nothing new. Lets look at it from this point. Coach Stone has been there for 13 yrs. with little or no complaints about his teams performance so why would all of a sudden the powers that be decide to run him off from his coaching duties? Knowing that all he** would break loose. Could it be that Coach Stone actually did do something wrong? However, as you said "Look it really doesn't matter what Coach Stone did or didn't do." This is the problem some of the people of Copper Basin have, they believe that no matter what he has done he should not be replaced until they think so. Coach Stone is like a hometown boy because his wife is from the community so naturally they are going to support him no matter what he has done. As for the reason I stated earlier the school boards attorney has probably advised them not to give any reason. If this is so political why are the school board members from Copperhill not fighting this move?? They are not saying a word (hint, hint). So maybe there is a good reason other than what some of the people in Copperhill are saying "those sorry S.O.B's from west Polk are just trying to screw us over up here".
  13. I know because everyone at McMinn Central knew why he was let go. Yes, I am familiar with Polk, Copper Basin and McMinn Central and I know faculty and administrators from all three schools as well as coaches. If I was wanting to gossip I would post why he was asked to resign but I won't. Why can't you people understand that he done something wrong and his dismissal from coaching is not political.
  14. I do not mean him any harm but everyone gets on here and slams the Super and Polk County in general for letting him go saying its Polkitics when in fact there is alot more to the story. Has anyone thought that some peoples problems are brought on by their own doings and decisions. People are saying that its because of them not playing Polk or something else ridiculous. In an earlier post the question was ask what was going on so I replied. Coach Stone was asked to resign but would not, so they fired him. He knows why he was asked to resign and it had nothing to do with his wins and losses and if you know anything about the situation you should know he is not saying anything to defend himself. The Copper Basin community is doing all the talking.
  15. I am not degrading him only stating the facts!!
  16. For those of you that don't know Stone was fired from Central for unapproved use of funds. As for the firing I hear they have a couple of reasons for the change but the School attorney told the Super and board members to not say anything.
