  1. The game was 7-0. An unbiased person would pick this game Coalfield by 10. Oneida said they would stomp C-Field. Coalfield said they would stomp the Tribe. Neither way happened. Oneida's D came to play but the offense was stagnant. The refs weren't great for either side, but some say Lambert was hit early in the endzone when he went to catch that long ball, I couldn't see. Coalfield made their breaks work for them and deserved to win. When you recover a fumble on the eleven and can't score, that's when you know you're in trouble. And i only have one complaint. On the same drive after we recovered the fumble, we ran a QB bootleg to the right sideline on 3rd and 15(?) instead of the middle to set up the field goal and we missed it right. That was frustrating to watch, but another day and it could have went for a TD. Coalfield pretty much owned the fourth and deserved to win.

  2. This is a tough one to pick. pianomaster, if the QBs can get the ball to number 8 then Coalfield won't be playing man for long. They have got to find a way to utilize him more. It seems that Coalfield(besides last year) always finds an underused player to get an extra TD on the Indians. In '04 they hit their tight end(#44?) for a long TD, and that was the difference in the game. The winner is going to be whoever steps up on offense and special teams.

  3. I dont think conditioning was necessarily the problem. If you noticed the two guys who were cramping were Lee Pardue and Joey McClung. Both of these guys were defensive and offensive MVP's respectively. They also were the team who drove 65 yards in the last three minutes to end up winning the game. I think these two worked so hard they deserved to have a few cramps. McClung is the first quarterback to ever throw for over 200 yards in a game also the first to throw three td passes. Lee ended up with almost 200 total yards and 8 passes defended. The guy he was guarding was all-state as well. You may see a lil bit less conditioning at Heritage games then you're used to seeing at White House games. Those guys are extremely conditioned and are in better shape then most teams out there. Well at least most 1-A teams out there. Is the White House game at home next week? Who do they play?

An all-state receiver from Sunbright? Now you're just being silly.

  4. Here's a stat for ya 204-6! JCS's combined score versus Region opponents last year and they only lost 3 starters on D! Read this a couple weeks ago in the Jackson Sun.

That is amazing. Oneida's defense was pretty stout last year, just didn't have any offense. Lambert, the D Coordinator, is one of the best around, look for them to be tough again.

  5. adidas, what business do you have in here? Oneida just has trouble finding five guys that work well together. They have their times when the play well together but for the most part it's Lambert penetrating and not being able to find anybody. When he penetrates and people cut or at least move they score. Just gotta get some movement

  6. Melton, Shannon, Shannon, Nelson, Carter.

Just a couple of names I think could shut Jacobs down

    Nelson, Shannon, Gunter, Schultz

Just a couple of names I think could shut Lambert down

I do agree though If a player can take it to the rim and finish then let him do it. If you gotta kid that can score in the post get it to him. Oneida will just keep improving should be good come Tourny's.

How many points did they have against those players? Lambert has been on a tear lately, how many did he have against Wartburg? Jacobs can't be stopped, contained, but not stopped.

  7. Oneida has to come to play. Did OS lose Blue or whatever from last year? He made the team go, if they still have him then it could mean trouble for the Indians. If not then Oneida needs to run when they can run and when they don't have numbers SLOW DOWN. It's not about how quick you get the shot off boys, its about making it. If Oneida learns when to push and when to slow down, they could be very dangerous.

  9. The winner of Jo Byrns Union City wins the state championship. Both teams are good and both teams will be trousdale co. I think Jo Byrns at home gives them the slightest edge over Union City in another Friday night thriller.

Trousdale is the best team in 1A as far as my eyes can see. Can they be beat? Absolutely. Will it happen? Doubt it. But I would like to see those Hampton boys win it and show that Regions 1 and 2 aren't as bad as everyone says.

  10. Oneida lost 7 seniors from last year's team. That's their five starters and first two off the bench. The only returning player that got significant playing time last year is Benji Jacobs who is still returning from an injury.

Now the good news. This team may not have the shooters the Range has but they are more athletic. If Oneida wants to win this one, I'd press the Buffs and wait for them to mistakes. Clarkrange has the advantage, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Indians stay in it and win it.

  11. It depends on the player. A coach must correct players in different ways. Some you can yell at others you have to comfort. Its a huge job, as a coach, to know how to get each player going individualy. A coach should never curse a player at the high school level. It happens everyday, but it is not neccesary.

Couldn't agree more. Some of the best coaches(John Wooden for example) knew how to coach their players. Some respond well to being chewed out, some do not. But one thing, is true you will eventually get yelled at. When the ystop yelling, they stop caring.
