  1. The only schools that I know of that have long-time coaches are Overton and Pearl-Cohn and had good success. I've never heard of Metro having in school Athletic Directors, they have Athletic Business Managers. Any more hints?

  2. I don't have anything bad to say about McPhail. Over the past 5 seasons his teams have given Gallatin all we could handle. We were able to beat them by making other players besides the 2 studs...Brown and Coker who both seemed to get their big plays in. This job has the potential to be a Gold Mine with the right coach...don't they have 1 of the largest student bodies in the state and full of Metro talent..(speed, size and strength). I realize it will take a large amount of commitment from the players and next set of coaches to take this team to the next level but it can be done with the right attitude....both Region 5-5A and all of the state should be paying attention to this hire....

The right coach is in the building and has been there since the day the new school opened. Jason Bush has proven to be not only a good coach, but has great relationships with the players. The players know that he cares about them both on and off the field. He has high expectations for them and this will allow them to continue to be successful. Jason has been loyal to the school and now the school needs to return the favor.

  3. 5a football in metro is terrible, there should be a lot more openings because of the performance of these teams. There are many good players in all these schools, and with enrollments of 1800-3000, the numbers on each team should be large. The coaching staffs should work hard during the off season to get the athletes in the school to play football. The head coaches should work all year in promoting football, but most put up the equipment and any thoughts about football until the season begins the next year. The mid state and private coaches just outwork metro coaches.

This from a person who does not coach and probably can't. Keep on, your clueless.

  4. You will enjoy O. Find Coach Anderson ,he can help and will also talk ball with you. I'll be at Hillsboro Friday. I was a young coach like you when I coached Ron Aydelott at Antioch, and I also coached Mose Phillips when I was at Hillsboro. Take care and hope to see you soon. Good luck.

  5. The Coleman young man played football his 9th and 11th grades. He had too much other stuff going on to make a real strong committment, but a talent. I don't think he did much more in basketball. By the way, do you know Lilal. Do I know him?

  6. You know in coaching their are many intangibles. Sometimes kids get reps if the situation is right to maybe encourage him, reward him for hard practice, and many other reasons. I'm sure many think they were cheated or not given an opportunity. My only thought was what was best for our team. No coach makes many bad second calls or decisions.

  7. Let's just agree to disagree. Opinions are like-------, everybody has one. I still would like to know who some of you are, can't hurt my feelings anyway. If I cared what you thought we would have not won any, or maybe all of them. I will say play station is a little different than real football. But, maybe I could have traded some of you guys.

  8. Thank you, I never said Coach Mc wasn't doing a good job. You are right about trying to win with the wrong kids. I don't even know them, so I can't say. Keep on commenting. I will say, and that's easy, that we were on the verge of something special. It is easy to critique when nobody knows who you are, just like reading an unsigned letter. This is about helping the Bears reach their potential. You know what potential is , don't you?

  9. CS , good to see you on hear, hope you are well. What are your thoughts on Antioch. As for McNine come on and let us know, there are no secrets. At least let us know what position you played. You might be one of those recievers that we never threw to, but if you played you must have been a pretty good blocker.

  10. Outsider you are correct. If Coach Smith gets the credentials, he will be a welcome addition on any staff. I'm sure that Coach Mac would not turn down good help. Private schools can do things that public schools can't. And that may not even been a factor.
