  1. I only know you do not know about this situation.
  2. Had nothing to do with Glencliff, being good or bad. He knew what he was facing and was excited to get it going. I think he made a decision we all would have made. I know I would ,with regrets for the players though. But knowing kids ,they will be fine.
  3. Had nothing to do with spring. In fact I went by twice and watched practice. Scott really thought Glencliff could win 4-5 games. Had nothing to do with Glencliff. It was a decision based on what we all would have done.
  4. Guess you are a former bear like I am. How many years will it take? What baby steps does he need to take? I do know a good coaching staff is huge.
  5. I agree. I was in old Hillsboro neighborhood on 12th Ave. where original Beckers Bakery was and where many kids came from that attended Hillsboro. I passed Sevier Park and saw a very different population. I t was also crowded and much activity. 12th avenue was packed and crowded also with many new businesses . Many homes were being renovated and a change is happening. it will be interesting how all this plays out.
  6. All this is true, but every school in Metro still has players that can play. The biggest obstacle is getting these kids excited about playing and that starts with a coach who kids will respond to. It is not about schemes and knowledge of the game. Antioch had that coach and just let him go. The only way this new coach will have any success is an ability to relate, encourage, and care for them. Kids what to know how much you care ,before they care how much you know. The days of being this hard core yelling coach is over ,especially with these kids. But if they know you care they will do anything asked and will want to be part of something special. Best wishes to Antioch.
  7. Most of metro's high schools are not even in neighborhoods anymore where kids come from. These older neighborhoods do not even have kids in them like when they were built. There a few, new Antioch is is a new neighborhood as is Cane Ridge. Most kids at most schools are not that close anymore.
  8. I do like Antioch. Hope the best for them. I think they have their coach just a slow process getting him named. Maybe have it official soon and they can get a few days of practice. I always thought spring was more about skill development and determining skills of players to match a scheme.
  9. There is a part of me that would like to give this a shot. It would be fun to get Jason Bush, Keith Dickey,C.J.Smith, Chris Robinson, Coach Currie, and my son Adam and see what we could do with these guys. I really enjoyed Antioch and the teams there, good times and great memories.
  10. LOD, I know nothing either. I just wish the best for Antioch. You know how much I care for this school. Hope someone is hired soon. Antioch was back on track this past year. Coaches were doing a good job.
  11. I really hope for the football program this gets settled quick.
  12. only if his first name is Adam.
  13. Interviews today. new coach soon. maybe this week.
  14. I am hoping and pulling for the acting head coach to be named.
  15. Heard his name for Whites Creek.
  16. I do wish you would call me. I know you know how or are smart enough .
  17. P Privates do not have to recruit like they do, I disagree with you. They do it to win, not be competitive. And metro coaches do not have to raid and rob other schools players. It is sad they can't just coach who comes to their schools they have to go get best players just to win. I have never had a problem with a parent seeking a school for their kid. That is fine and okay. What is wrong is coaches both public and private making first contact by approaching good athletes for one purpose,WIN!!!.
  18. I thought this topic would get more posts than it has gotten.
  19. Maybe they are all looking to coach in college where recruiting is the norm. Until there is punishment it will continue. Nothing gets attention like being docked pay.
  20. rhe·tor·i·cal ques·tion noun a question asked in order to create a dramatic effect or to make a point rather than to get an answer. "the presentation was characterized by impossibly long sentences and a succession of rhetorical questions"
  21. I visit many coaches in metro who have voiced their concern about the illegal recruiting of not only middle school students out of zone ,but even the recruiting of players already in their high school. There is no pressure from principals to win at all costs, so why does a coach recruiting feel the need to do this. Has high school football become like AAU basketball coaches and just go get the best players and let them play. Just coach the kids that come to you and go play.
