Yesterday in the DL/Dyersburg game, the go ahead run for Lipscomb was scored after an umpire overturned a call. Lipscomb Coach Ernie Smith, appealed the original call at first to the homeplate umpire, he over ruled the call and the runner was safe. Naturally, both sets of bleachers saw things the way that was best for their favorite team. The Dyersburg coach came out and calmly defended his team. I thought both coaches stood up for their players in a very sportsmanlike way.
In today's Tennessean, the Dyersburg first baseman, Tyler Lyons, was quoted as saying "They made the right call switching it back. I definitely came off of the bag."
What a tribute to that young man! In a day where many athletes look to blame officials, this young man stuck up for them, even when the call hurt his team.
Both coaches handled the situation professionally and Tyler Lyons proved himself to be mature beyond his years. He is a credit to his family, his team and his school. I hope good things will always happen for him.

For starters the football coaches laughed about you being at practice all the time and next would be the baseball coaches! and by the way I forgot if you own the house it is not called renting my bad!!!

You need to learn little about loyalty! You've said a lot about a lot of people so dont get on here asking someone not to talk about anything! May be best to stick with football! You could put your house up for sale again and rent somewhere else to be elgible at another school if you dont lik it!!

DC may scrimmage tomorrow afternoon in UC. Will be going to Humboldt this Saturday for scrimmage tournament.

Yes, I did choose to say I heard "rumors" because I was making a point. Point being we all hear things and yet a lot of it is not true and we should not take it as truth. You of all people should know that I that I would not say anything to hurt Tyler at all. Others have heard things.......how do you think I heard it? D, you know that a lot of what peole say on here is their opinion or something they heard. Some of course is fact, but just so you know......I am pro Tyler Lyons. I like him as a person, I think he is a great kid and I think he's a tremendous athlete (not to mention his killer smile). I will miss him wearing orange/white this season.
with all the rumors floating around about kids from both school,this is not the place to say you heard a rumor about no one,i would never get on here and say i heard a rumor about any kid,and believe me i hear rumors too

they did get 6 tranfers and they all moved or will sit out a year

Yes, Dyersburg got T. Lyons, a junior, from DC. He played varsity baseball and football at DC last year. He did in fact play football for Dyersburg last fall so one would assume he'd be playing baseball as well. Great athlete in both sports! Just not sure how he got to do that. He got mad and quit DC baseball team. Several rumors floated around about some things he did so I won't elaborate because they are just that...rumors.

So far as we know no one has been caught doing anything....don't hear any complaints on the transfers D-burg got from DC...how many are on the jv team??
my son transfered from DC and he was turned into TSSAA the wed before Dyersburg and Dyer CO football game,so how far was that,and were thet worried about what those kids worked for

Really not a lot of thought process on this because the season hasn't even started. You cannot possibly give an education prediction before seeing anyone. Players get stronger, players get weaker, change of coaching staff, injuries, etc. I will say that I've heard that Dyersburg will be weak because they lost several seniors, but I wouldn't count them out. They also have talent coming up. They had younger talent last year but they didn't get a chance with the senior representation on the field. So.......who the heck knows at this point.
Just waiting for opening day!
dont think you need count on D-burg being weak,they just may surprise some people this year

Okay....so comparing kids practices ....specifically DC's /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> might not be hurtful for some kids to read?????....some of the kids who DID work hard might not appreciate reading that. Ever think comments like that and things written about fans at games might just POSSIBLY have something to do with people not liking D-burg???? EVER think last years fiasco just MAY have something to do with it. I Honestly didn't think they would make it as far as they have....and have said so. Surprised me BUT I was pleasantly surprised....heck I listen to the games and I say good luck to those kids AND MEAN IT. Most people who know me know I wouldn't say it if I didn't.

It's fair to say I am responsible for the whole 'Legend' thing with the headline "The Legend Returns".
To say it as simply as possible, when James Counce decided to return to Trojan football the headline was one meaning in DYERSBURG Counce is a legend, which he is.
There has been much flak received for over using the word legend. It wasn't used to offend anyone or make the man more than he is, but it was appropriate.
Having said that, I challenge anyone to dispute that this football team would be in the position they are in if not only Counce, but his son and the rest of the coaching staff that works their rear ends of seven days a week weren't here.
The players, for the most part, are striving because the staff has put a plan in place and the players have bought into it.
I'm there two or three days a week and most have no freakin' idea how hard these kids work to get better on a daily basis. After attending practices at both DHS and DCHS, to be blunt there is simply no comparison. None, nata.
Yes, the coaches have done a great job with a team supposed to be mediocre. True enough, there are no Gold Balls for football in the trophy case, but as of today Dyersburg is one of 8 teams still alive, so they do have a chance right?
Why do some have such a dislike for Dyersburg? Seriously, I don't understand it.
Reading all the threads on CoachT are for the most part very amusing and at times very well written, but some of this stuff is just down right brusing, especially to the kids that get on here and read it. Believe me, they read it.
Another thing I don't understand is this playing in college deal. While there may not be but one or two at the big boy level, there are plenty that are still playing the game in college.
As far as Counce goes, he could give a rats... what people think of him. There are a few more coaches out there coaching today that if they felt the same way their football teams would be better because of it, and all of you out there know it.
In any case, the Trojans will keep playing until someone unfortunately tells them the season is over. It could happen this week, next week, or it may happen the week after. However, the season is still alive when Mitchell leaves the stadium Friday night, win or lose, they will remember the Trojans!

My thing is...DYERSBURG LOST EVERYBODY from last year....The most talented team in Dyersburg history probably....One starter (Click) who played last year or maybe Whitfield ( two) who played ANY OFFENSE...and going to this TWO platoon system..was gonna take some getting used to....and all I could hear was HOW DOWN Dyersburg was gonna be this year...This was gonna be the year that COUNCE would have to EARN HIS MONEY because EVERYBODY was gone...No Rashad, No Tyler, No Beau, etc, etc.. THOSE KIDS WERE THREE YEAR STARTERS...He will have to start over...We "WILL SEE WHAT KIND OF COACH COUNCE IS"...Heard it from more than one at the beginning of the season...and I said..."LIKE HIM..DON"T LIKE HIM"...The man gets the most out of his talent....He gets those kids to BELIEVE in him and they will RUN THROUGH A BRICK WALL FOR HIM.....and still everybody said...DYERSBURG LOST TOO MUCH ....They won't make the playoffs...Yet here we are two field goals away from being undefeated....and one of only 8 teams left in AAA playing for it all....Somebody must be doing something right...

Okay...StevieRay....I agree with you a whole lot of the time. Counce HAS got some athletes on that team....a couple who are really good. Size wise they aren't just humongous but they aren't tiny either. Heck there was not that big of a difference size wise between them and DC. Check out ya'lls freshman class.....made DC's look tiny in comparison. I will grant you he is a good coach....but the man is NOT a "miracle worker". To hear it he takes kids who can't walk a straight line and makes them into a super team.....uhhh, uhhh, not so, the majority of those kids HAVE athletic ability.....he just helps it along. Some have obviously more than others. You would think he is on par with Maryville or Alcoa's coach.....don't think so....gotta ways to go. May very well prove me wrong one day....but it is gonna take more than 1 gold ball. If I am wrong I will say it on down the line. Man is good but he ain't "King Midas".....OBVIOUSLY those kids have drive and I give them a heck of alot of the credit....THEY want to win. For every handful of kids who want to play for him there is a handful who do not. I personally think the man is about as unpersonable as you can get with an ego the size of Texas....that gets fed constantly by people hanging on him and calling him a "legend" every chance they get......then again I am not a clique type of person....and I would imagine he would hate me in real life...haaaa!!!!haaaa!!!!!Heck NOBODY thought DC would do as well as they did last year.....they did...cause those kids had the WANT. You get groups who have it and groups that don't. I hope these kids can take it far this season....but I want it for the kids....and the kids ONLY.

Well...Let's just put it this way....HOW MANY D-1 PROSPECTS have we seen ( Not counting the playoffs) during the regular season....Do you know HOW GOOD YOU HAVE TO BE TO PLAY D-1 Football.....How many D-1 prospects does region 7AAA put out every year?....Brownsville sends a few...Ramon Foster from Ripley is playing at UT....Watch all the teams in 7AAA and see who plays major college ball the next few years....THEY WILL BE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN...
NO lets put it this way,this team has nothing to do with 1972 or2006,its 2008 dont really worry about Ripley or Brownsville,all i know is you make sure to tell us how small and lack of athletes Dyersburg has

No disrespect taken...But it proves MY POINT...When people say...OH..COUNCE HAS HAD SO MUCH TALENT...HE JUST ROLLS OUT THE BALL...Right...How many of these kids will play at the next level?..Be honest...They know that...Think they don't use that ...US AGAINST THE WORLD theme a lot...THEY ARE A TEAM...THEY ARE A GREAT TEAM...There is NO "I" in TEAM....Sure they have some a few pretty good players...But nobody that is gonna play D-1....And hey...That is no slap in the face...That David Lipscomb team that came down here two years ago and won 42-10 without throwing a pass...DIDN"T PUT ONE PLAYER IN DIV-1 football....Last year's team didn't either...AND THEY WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!...Now they have Zach Rogers and he is THE REAL DEAL and UT bound...as he is the younger brother of UT WR Austin Rogers.....WE HAVE A GREAT PROGRAM....WE HAVE GREAT KIDS....But the fact is...We went 30 year between D-1 Signees...Jimmy Noonan to UT back in 1976....JT Beasley to Missouri back in 2007....So yeah we have had a few kids play at UT-Martin...Lambuth, Rhodes.and even Austin Peay...But for 30 years...WE HAVEN"T BEEN EXACTLY A HOT BED FOR RECRUITERS...and don't see it now...Proud of these kids...It just shows what hard work..GREAT coaching....BEING IN SHAPE...Well disciplined and MENTALLY TOUGH will do....WENT YOU LOOK OUT ON THE FIELD BEFORE A GAME AND YOU SEE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN SIZE AND SPEED.....AND THE ADVANTAGE IS USUALLY THE OTHER"S TEAM'S FAVOR...Then YOU LOOK AT THE SCOREBOARD AND DYERSBURG HAS WON....Then that is the mark of a PROGRAM...A GREAT PROGRAM...I JUST WISH THAT WE COULD PUT A GOLD BALL IN THAT TROPHY CASE ONE DAY...As Coach Counce says..."KEEP CHOPPING WOOD"...And maybe we will get there...GO TROJANS!.... I guess it just goes back to the days when it was YEARS before we ever beat teams like Haywood or Covington...and even though we lost to them this year...We had QUITE a streak going....PROUD OF THIS BUNCH...YOU HAVE COME FURTHER THAN ANYBODY WOULD EVER IMAGINED.....GO TROJANS!..

this is sad because i believe you are probably a dyersburg fan if you got a problem with Tyler why dont you talk to me,instead of getting on here, and i have a good idea who you are after posting this,so i will tell you like i will tell anyone else keep your comments to yourself BUDDY
