  2. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Zoccola family as they go through this tremendously difficult time. Regardless of the outcome, this game will provide an outlet for three hours of competition after an extremely painful, grueling week for both communities, especially those of Father Ryan and Holy Rosary. I fully support the JPII program and hope they win, but if they do not, it will be less painful knowing that the Father Ryan community has something to be happy about and look forward to. Good Luck and God Bless

  3. The Uncle Buck comment was really cute. I am sure that you would like to feel so important as to thinking that someone would apply for this site as to respond to your comments. By the way, nice job of dodging the original question of who these 4 supposed D1 PROSPECTS are. You and I both know that using the word prospects is rediculous, either they are being actively recruited or they are not, especially at this time of the year. Now will you answer the question or continue to avoid the question at hand, who are these supposed 4? As far as less talented Webb teams I would be very careful there. There is an old saying that goes as follows, "I would rather have a team with average players and excellent coaching than a team with above average players and below average coaching, because the well coached team will always WIN"! Maybe that is what is happening with Webb and JPII?

    Best of Luck,

Golden Tate (TB, WR), Courtney Coffee (FB, LB), Josh Lovett(WR, CB), Jay Wilson (C, DT)

  4. I thought both Pearl and JP2 played well. Pearl looks to have a good season this year. Good luck to you.

jp2fan, i also attended st. henry school and church and was wondering how you got your move up north. send me a private message and let me know who this is by the way

  5. I think that attributing all the ditzing of JPII to me is flattering, but also incorrect. You may want to go back and check the quotes you attributed to me for accuracy. But, I will also tell you that that street runs both ways and I see much more JPII faithful digging on FRHS for their past few years records and their prediction of "more of the same." You may want to thicken your skin a bit more and read the posts more carefully going forward before lumping all your woes into one neat package. I will tell you that may want to make sure your kids strap their chin straps on tight when they face FRHS cause it's gonna be a slobberknocker and no one at FRHS is in awe of JPII. So have fun, the season is about to begin and the digs on all teams will likely get more frequent as supporters of other teams make their opinion known. Good Luck.

    Ole Dad

Your talking like father ryan has done anything against jp2. If anyone should be telling anyone else to tighten the chin straps, it should be the other way around. 49-21.

  6. As far as the move from AA to AAA goes, for starters, Father Ryan has little if any room to talk on the matter seeing as how they have had very limited success in the past decade in this division they claim to know so well. Secondly, JPII will be one of the smaller schools in the division. While we're on the topic of Father ryan though, they are a school of 1000+, while JPII is barely over 700. Just more food for thought.....

  7. You start putting your money where your mouth is and betting on that and you truly will have only 2 cents.

    Ole Dad

Good one, father ryan. You guys are running your mouths like you do every year. A few good scrimmages and practices and all of the sudden they're the '85 bears. Just like was said before, father ryan always has great jv and freshman teams but the big boys must only know how to play on thursday afternoon instead of friday night. Wait until Friday August 25, 2006 at Hillsboro High School (because you have no stadium) at 7:30 then you can talk if you can pull it out

  8. JPII Still can't compete with Ryan in many athletic regards.

That's the most ignorant comment I have ever heard. I think most people are in agreement that the three biggest high school sports are football, basketball and baseball, and probably in that order. If JPII has beaten Ryan in two out of three, with the third maybe coming this year, what other regards are you talking about?

  9. Watch out Father Ryan??

I have seen JP2 play several times and this will be no contest...

I see Father Ryan taking home ALL 4 games......8 if you count JV.

Golden Tate can not even be compared with his skills in football, no where near as good.

First off Golden is not the whole team, a big part, yes, but not the whole team. Secondly, This rivalry will never contain a "no contest" sort of like duke and unc but on a smaller scale.

  10. Now there's a shocker!

The shocker was how overrated the "mustache mafia" is. There were no creative chants, little cheering and there were maybe 20 students who made the 30 minute drive up I65. I was disappointed. JPII's student section was louder, larger and more creative despite never receiving the front page of coacht.com or a goofy nickname.

  11. this thread is ended bc who's student section is on the front page of coacht.com.... the mustache mafia of brentwood academy... so you can say what you want but no one brings it than they do.

Brentwood Academy had the weakest student section I've seen all year last night at the JPII game. BA is probably 35 or so minutes from JPII and they had MAYBE 20 students who were very unoriginal, not creative at all and quiet most of the game. Their most creative cheer was "scoreboard".

  12. well considering only 3 players on our team have taken the act i think the average is around a 24... it doesnt matter what you say about jpII playing us well bc the truth be known brandan was getting mugged all night and if you were at the game you would have seen that... all the matters is that our average victory of divsion II region teams is 34 points im pretty sure.

I have no solid evidence but I find it hard to believe that a school of less than 800 people just so happens to have two top 5 basketball recruits fall into their lap. And about Father Ryan, we shouldn't have expected anything less from them. Before JPII and Ryan ever played in football the only measuring stick was common opponents and we didn't hear the end of the fact that we lost to knoxville catholic...until ryan did too. I understand this is basketball but I think Ryan has a problem with accepting that there might be a Catholic school in the Nashville area thats....better than them. examples:

JPII Class of 2005 Average ACT score: 25 (off the website)

Father Ryan Class of 2005 Average ACT score: 22 (off the website)

JPII % of students taking an AP: 78

FR % of students taking an AP/Honors: 56

Sometimes we forget that STUDENT is the operative word in STUDENT Athlete

  13. A Ryan administrator said this? I find that extremely odd considering the army of them that stand in front of the student section during the games while telling the students what they can or can't chant. I also wonder if they would have let the Ryan students run up to the opposing side after winning and taunt, mock, and even push them? I can guarantee you that Coach Bontrager would not have let his players gloat the way JP2's did, and the administration definitely would have had a ridiculously tight grip on the students, as they always do. I understand the intensity of the game and JP2 earned the win, but they definitely need a lesson in discipline.

Lets try to imagine for a minute what would have happened if not for the "army" of administrators. People can try to show JP2 as a bunch of thugs all they want but it wasn't JP2 that required a policeman and teachers/administration in the student section. I guarantee you no "pushing" went on that would have caused a riot.

  14. Apparently JPII is only as good as Golden Tate. Many Father Ryan Supporters fail to recognize that Brian Sneed scored as many touchdowns as they did in that game. People should recognize that although JPII has yet to defeat the likes of MBA, BA, McCallie, MUS or Baylor it should be noted that JPII has handled the schools of around its size very well.
