1. That wasn't the same Lipscomb team that had played the previous 14 weeks in the season last year. The coaches and players both were cocky and thought they had it in the bag and they got it handed to them. Since their week 1 loss this team has been focused and out to prove last years championship game was a fluke. Lipscomb has played the hardest schedule and it will pay off. The shut down Turner last week, the top prospect in the state. This week they will contain Dustin Lindsey, and nect week will show why they deserve to be champs.

Stopping a player and containing a player is different things. You're going to have to be a little more specific. Duck is much improved from last year and so is Alcoa's recieving core. It is going to be tough stopping Alcoa's high powered offense tonight. thumb

2. No Way!!!  Of course Maryville can be beat.  But remember last year's loss to MoWest in the semi's (Tenn high got slaughtered by that MoWest team in the previous round)  Maryville had 5 or 6 turnovers and lost by very little, in fact drove and had a chance to win it, with a sloppy field at an away staduim.  Maryville will score around 20 points a game on any team, with everything going wrong.  If they play their A-game, it will be in the mid 30's to 40's.

In my humble opinion this game comes down to Tennessee High's schedule.  Either it's legit and they are a darn good team, or they dominated a traditionally weak region which some say is even weaker this year.  Just look at the quarters.  Maryville beat a Central team which lost to 2 teams all year - Maryville twice, and McCallie by 2 @ McCallieElizabethton had 3 other regular season losses besides Tenn High.  They are more of a Rhea Co. type (also with 4 losses) who Maryville played in the first round.  This is not to disrespect Betsy, they earned their spot by winning, but the talent level was not as good for them this year as it has been in the past.

I believe we will know by the end of the first quarter if Tenn is for real.  Maryville has been tried by fire in the past few years, we know we're good.  If Tenn isn't up to it, it could be a blowout.  If it's close after the first quarter anything can go.

Good luck to all the undefeated teams.  This is a great semifinal bracket!

You can't go off of last years stats and scores. It's in the past and games can be played poorly or excellent on any given Friday. thumb

3. FBE,

1) Those are strong accusations. Do you have proof or first-hand knowledge of those accusations? Your dislike for Alcoa is evident.

2) If Rewis dropped Alcoa because he thinks Alcoa ran the score up, all I can say is......wah...wah...wah! Who's responsibility is it to stop them?

In an interview years ago Bobby Bowden (Virginia) was asked what he thought about Joe Paterno (Penn State) running the score up on him in a shelacking. This is the best response I have ever heard. Bowden's response was, "It is not Coach Paterno's responsibility to hold the score down. It is our responsibility to stop them!" Now there is a man talking!

3) By dropping Alcoa, the message I hear is that if you face adversity it is okay to QUIT!

4) I hate to see these traditional games go away.

Never been stated any better. thumb

Good luck Heritage and William Blount! I hope it works out for you. I truely wish you success.

4. AE is in 3a because their enrollment dictates it.  If Alcoa wanted to play AE...they could have moved up to 3a.

825439029

AE wasn't forced to move up. They moved up willingly. Why should Alcoa move up just to play AE? AE is not that good. They couldn't make it past the 2nd or 3rd round in 2A. 3A stinks!

5. Alcoa has a very good strenth and conditioning staff. In the offseason they conmpleted a variety of tasks to improve on mobility, technique and quickness as it shows this season with both sides of the ball playing very well and most of the players play both ways. All high school weight programs isn't a joke.
6. The comment...is it just me or does anyone else think Rockwood is garbage? is what got it ALL started.

We do so because of Alcoa fans that started it, one simple Rockwood fan said they are pulling for Rockwood and here goes SOME Alcoa fan, not all with the trash.

Yes, Moffitt will be playing Friday night.

825438583

Im happy to hear that Moffit will be playing friday night and I hope that rockwood brings their "A" game because Alcoa will bring theirs. Too much fire power on O for that ridiculous defense I saw that Rockwood has. Good luck to both teams and drive safe Rockwood fans. thumb

7. Exactly! This is what you people do not understand. You all keep bringing up " Oh Rockwood doesnt play any good teams except Alcoa and they got blasted by them and Rockwood dont play teams like Maryville." How long ago was Alcoa vs. Maryville? Week 2 or 3? But yet just because Maryville is a 4A team, they are being brought up for every excuse. Everybody on this thread knows the people that do have class and the ones the dont have class. I'm not mentioning any names, but most of the are on Alcoa's side, making Alcoa look like stuck-up team and get way ahead of theirselves. I'm not calling Alcoa that by-far, I'm just saying most of the Alcoa fans on this thread make the team look that way. Heard some talk, very possible that the coaches are letting Moffitt play Friday. So that is very good news for Rockwood. Tigers, do good in practice for the rest of the week and be well-rested for Friday and prove these Tornadoes wrong! Go Tigers!!

825437967

Well we hope Moffit is ready to go so there won't be any exuses. Fiegler and Co. will do whatever they want to with that Rockwood secondary. Alcoa by 21. thumb

8. Not true. Sour grapes?  What sour grapes, over what.  In fact if he does not get the touches he won't get the record.  Simple math my friend.  To be fair I don't know what Alcoa's opponents were like in 66 but this year they have had no tough teams to get in their way this year.

825382742

I don't care how tough the opponents are 30+ touchdowns in a season is hard to get and harder if your not even playing offense but 1 or 2 drives in the second half. thumb

9. I think anywhere from 2 to 5 scores, depending on how much passing Reid does, as mentioned.  Probably more onn the 5 side than the 2 side haha.  Keep in mind, Duck is a threat to score catching the ball too....

825382677

Duck doesn't get alot of balls thrown at him though. No matter what record Duck is chasing Reid still has to keep B. Warren happy. Egos tend to get in the way at Alcoa. thumb

10. Just keeping touches to Running, Lindsey gets about 17 per game while Love, Tate and Stultz account for about 9 per game between them.  These numbers show that 67% of the ground game is on one kids back.  If he goes down, Alcoa does not have the depth to win a gold ball in my view.  I would like very much for Alcoa to bring home the gold, but I am just talking football.

825382657

He's a soldier he's not going down :P Atleast we hope not.

11. Southlake Carroll or Denton Ryan would kill any Tennessee team. Both QBs were amazing. Everything about these two schools is better than TN high school football. I would like to see some teams from TN running the complex offensive and defensive schemes that these teams run instead of the 250 out of 300 schools in TN that run a wing-t or some offense from the 1950s. There are exciting athletes to watch but the team offense and defense around here is boring. By the way did you guys see the Facilities of the two schools? It's a shame we cant get schools to give like that around here.

825382172

Uhhhh..How many people live in TX?? Bigger the population the better the talent duhhh.

12. I was wondering the same thing myself.  How much has Hicks helped WB?

I think Alcoa is a good 2A team and will make a great run if they stay healthy.  But if Alcoa gets what I call one dimensional to the run of one RB, the team may lose to one who has balance between the run and the pass.  Great write up on Lindsey, but heck the guy gets over twenty touches a game or has made up about 45% of the total offence.  Many eggs in one basket and a one man show but shut him down and the team is finished.  Thus far Alcoa has not really been tested except for....ah you know who.  Hold Lindsey under 80 yards, a little pressure on the QB and score a few TD's and Alcoa is done.  Don't know if anyone in 2A can do it but that is the key as I see it.

825382373

Please don't post if your gonna post false facts. Have you watched Alcoa's past 3 games. To me it looks like 14 15 carries over 100 yards per game. A little under 3 touchdows per game. Doesn't see like alot of carries to me. Logan has almost 200 yards on 20 carries and Darryl Tate has almost 200 yards on 25 carries. Joei has 918 yards with only 50 completions and 10 touchdowns. Doesn't seem one dimensional to me.

13. Could be some good games there.  But i hate to say it but i give the edge to Parkview

825382052

Parkview has already beaten Brookwood this year so I would also give the edge to them. I would put Parkview against any team in the nation and I think they can hold their own.

14. It may not be a smashing but LIpscomb if they play decent will win by at least 17 points

825382050

From what I hear on here Lipscomb is shaky at times so they are have to going to play well. Alcoa is just getting better and better as the season goes on. Im getting alot of mixed feelings on here about Lipscomb so im just going to say one thing. OVERRATED!! thumb
