I agree. It’s easy to say from the stands. The coaches want success and put in a lot of time. They know best…even if some moments are head scratching.
I’m right there with you. I’m sitting there going what are we doing a lot of times. It’s easy for us to say it. Here in a few hours I will say the same thing watching TN lol.

False starts are a lack of mental prep. Holding is just pure laziness. SP is running linemen out there that I thought would never play a down or meaningful football for multiple reasons. Kind of is what it is at this point. A lot of talent but that’s a HUGE weakness. I can’t understand how we are going into the last game of the season and some still don’t know where to line up. I’ll say my usual, the wing-T would benefit us so much. Blocking schemes, misdirections in the backfield, and you can still throw the ball. Skill talent covers a lot of issues in the trenches.
Agree on some points but I’m not sure I’d like to see Wellington as a QB under center handing the ball off either. He’s a pretty good runner. It might be hard to run him as much from there. As for the false starts. That’s just mental discipline and there isn’t an excuse. I’m still speechless on that offensive pass interference call they made.

We aren’t blessed with great speed all over. We have a few kids who run decent but we don’t anybody who can burn
Gordonsville is typically loaded. I expect they are again this year. Had some tough losses but all to larger class teams.

Do you guys have a good amount of speed? Size?
They won’t have speed like Gordonsville.

That’s a lot of time invested above for a hypothetical question. I will say 1-2A are very similar. 1-2A east are much weaker than 1-2A west.

I’d say SP will struggle with Gordonsville. Just a hunch…Any stats from tonight’s game?

If SP makes it to the semis how do you think we matchup with Coalfield? Hopefully we can advance this year past the second round.

Yeah, and to top it off, a forfeit to LV that year.
Team just didn't generate any offense and actually defense played well at times just couldn't hold up.
There was another year around that time that was terrible too.

We sucked that year.
A backsliding event.
Of Biblical proportions.
Then got rebaptized , rededicated & got our minds right.
I think they started 22 seniors the year in 99 and they went 15-0. We lost them all and went from one extreme to the other.

If Ben Franklin don’t win Mr. football they need to quit doing the award. There isn’t 1 other kid in Single A you would pick to start your team with.
If you have the best player in 1A and are currently 5-3 someone should be fired. If he’s that good you don’t get shutout by Collinwood.
Eddie Moore didn’t win it for South Pittsburg back in the 90’s. Raquis Hale didn’t win it in 2010 and he was the best player in 1A. Robert Robinson didn’t win it in 2007 and he too was the best 1A player.

People that are saying that don't watch this team every week. I've seen them play maybe 5 good quarters all year.
Sounds like you played bad tonight and still won. That’s the mark of a good team. I still believe you have the most talented team in the east. Congrats on another big win.

What is this mess P2003?
Them Greenback boys kidnapped Roy one time.
If we go up there in the 4th round they might kidnap you.
I’ll take my chances. Our trips there haven’t been good in the past. Our luck has to change at some point though.

I hope Greenback wins the first three rounds.

Good to see Greenback return to their winning ways tonight. I’d like to see Greenback get hot and make a run to the semifinals.

Haha some of them are sandbagging every year! Why do you think it’s so fun arguing with the SP faithful! They were dumbfounded when Gordy beat them last year and now they have a roster that would compete in class 2a-3a or even D-1a looks like, less than a year later. Definitely not a coincidence.
Who was dumbfounded? I think a lot of fans called it a 1 score game either way. The 2022 Pirate team wasn’t very good and most of this fan base knew it.

Chatt Prep definitely has some good athletes. My cougars have looked pretty bad. We have some good athletes, but we don’t have enough to compete nor the coaching to compete with anyone half way decent.
I predict they still get mercy ruled next week.

Most Marion folks realize this team is no where near what those '15 &'16 teams were.
The Brainerd game was awful but we were coming off a big win against Sequatchie so most figured a let down. They honestly haven't played 4 qtrs of good football. The 4th qtr against Fayetteville and the first 2 qtrs against Sequatchie they looked good. Last week's Tyner game the defense played great but we just never got into a rhythm. That's one of the things I worry about getting into the playoffs. Some games they just show up and win on athleticism. A lot harder to do that against good teams.
I been watching a long time. IMO Your talent pool this year is just as good as those teams. You might not be as good of a team but talent wise you boys got some great ones right now.

Lack of discipline here we go with that again!
Smh!!
You have the most talent in 1A. SP is talented but not like your team obviously is. I see the kids that left Freedom Prep have about shut that program down according to their record. Based off straight talent MASE should win it all by a large margin. As far as discipline of MASE I know nothing.

Crazy to think we won the state championship that year and almost got bounced in round 2. Goes to show even on a “down” year for SP they are still a hard team to beat!!! & it was a home game for us! If we were playing at the Beene we might have been watching SP play for another gold ball in 12
Wasn’t that back when everyone played together in the regular season? We finished second several years back then because we had Signal in our region but with a 4A enrollment. That sucked….I didn’t make it to the 12 game. I remember thinking it shouldn’t be much of a game and SP would get drilled.

I remember the Gville/SP game from 2010. Tough loss for us. Everybody in tiger town thought 2010 was our year to win another one. Didn’t happen til 2 years later
Was that the year Raquis Hale ran wild? Seems like he rushed for 350 that night. I was thinking Gordonsville had a good QB.
South Pittsburg vs Whitwell (Stone Cold vs Rocky Balboa)
in Class 1A & Class 2A

I was thinking SP scored 6 times on Sale Creek and Chatt Prep. Whitwell is a little better than both of those teams.
