1. You think that Alcoa doesn't have pride? You think that we don't body up for the game? I don't know what ya'll are implying. Alcoa is ready for this game. These Juniors have been waiting for this moment since they stepped onto the campus in 2002.  Dustin Lindsey has been somber all day. School has been a joke today, between the mini pep rallies in the halls, and the various roll calls being sung out. I camped out on the field again last night, and while Maryville did get our bridge, they still didn't get our field or the duck pond because I ran 7 people off. Look for a awesome defensive matchup with huge offensive explosions. Alcoa by 3!

No implications. Go back and read. We're all giving you all props all the way. Hey, is there ANYONE else on your all's team? The great Duck didn't have too much fun last year man. I mean seriously, all playing aside. I'm interested in the rest of the team. Please tell me more....for my part, I'm saying it will take more than the only player I ever hear about. ;)

  2. REBELRON is a great spokesman for Maryville.  I'll leave it at that.

I give ultimate props to RebelRon. He's THE MAN. He is a gentleman and a scholar of the game. I almost always agree with him. I'm sure that would surprise you.

That said, Maryville could handle most teams on a consistent basis. Come on down tonite and see. It's a little different when you graduated from Maryville and played ball there. We all don't hide our pride as well as others.

You have a good one :(

  3. dmoyers, take about 30 minutes and read a few weeks worth of REBELRON's posts about Maryville.  You could learn a lot about humility and class from him.

You don't know me, so don't judge me. This strand sat still for 2 hours. I was just getting something started. You wanna talk ball now, or critique me some more?

    :(

  4. Wrong year, you beat us badly 2 years ago.  We had the upperhand this year.  But good luck against Alcoa tonight.

    825315950

I understood the final score to be 21-6. I wasn't there, so I digress. :(

  5. Ya'll come down to Blount Co tonite and let us show you what real football and real football teams are all about. Bring the 5A schools with you and when we're done with Alcoa, we'll start in on them.

Everybody have a good Friday nite!! :(

  6. Went by the "Skeeter" this morning and there is a solitude about the place.  Haven't seen the players and student body up for a game like this in a few years.  Pride is on the line and the few players I got to talk to in front of the gym were not joking much, seemed to have a business like attitude.

Maryville will again be dominate.  Good luck to the Alcoa team, but it would take more than luck stop this Rebel team tonight.  Tickets go on sale at the gate at 5:30, better be there early unless you have a reserve seat.

Calm before the storm, I like it. :(

  7. Dustin Lindsey will get hit harder tonight than he will all season. Maryville has a ton of pride. That defense will not let Lindsey run wild.

Well put Ron. Look for another performance like Riggs had a couple of years ago. He's gonna get his yards, but they won't be enough and won't amount to much. I'd say 80 yards and 1 touchdown.

  8. i think a big crowd will be thurr..whatta bout u?

    825315739

It'll be the biggest crowd to see a football game in Blount County this year. It always is. Well, except the years when we have to go to the smaller stadium at Alco. It's always a big crowd though. ;)

  9. well for all you maryville fans out there i feel that alcoa will win a close one.  This will be a good game, with both teams putting up several TD's, but alcoa is pumped this year and ready to bring the W back. It's been several years since alcoa has won and i think its time for them to just show what their made of.  there will be a big crowd there friday because it is after all alcoa-maryville, so if your coming anticipate a big crowd and a great game!!!

We'll see. The past is the past, so we'll see how much better Alcoa has got tonite. Better get there early if you wanna sit. ;)

  10. The Boss says you Maryville people whine more then them dang Duke Boys.  Boo Whoo we can't travel.  Sniffle Sniffle only people watching our team on a road trip would be the band.

Oh, by the way we at Maryville  are the prime time team in TN.  Look how many gold balls we have.  We are the greatest.  We just don't play against schools that are our same size.  Our fans are the greatest and would travel to Toledo to see us play.

Momma Hog says you can't have your eggs scrambled and fried at the same time.

What tha???? Tell Cooter we said hi. He was in town last nite. ;)

  11. Didn't Riverdale get beat like 3 times last year? Did I look at the wrong season schedule, or am I right on that? What's special about that? Now Dobyns-Bennett, their tough and their tough because an old Red Rebel coach went up there in the 80's and started a wonderful football tradition. Thank Maryville Football again gentlemen.

Come watch the Rebels play and you'll understand guys. Tonite would be a great time to come. They'll be whipping their cross town rival, the Little Wind (Alcoa).

    ;)

  12. Well, once again gentlemen.....IT'S ON!! Let the talk end and the fun begin. This is gonna be the best Maryville/Alcoa game in a long, long time. Both teams are stacked with talent and ready for war. This might possibly be the battle of who has the best offensive line.

Lots of scoring early and often in this one boys. Too bad for Alcoa that the scoring for them will end towards the middle or end of the 3rd qurater, as usual. I don't mean disrespect with that boys; it's just a fact that history bears. This is where the BS ends and the battle begins. GOOO RED REBELS!!!

    ;)

  13. There are a lot of people who follow them other than parents. For starters I have been watching them for forty years. Last week at Carter we probably had twice the people there they did.

    825314398

I've been following them since I was 6 or 7 and that was 27 years ago. My Dad has been following them since before Coach Story. Someone else said it right before. Maryville is a rich, storied football program, not just a team. As a matter of fact, there's plenty of other team's fans there on most Fridays.

  14. Nothing special, same effective routine, Biz as usual. Monday was film day, with shoulder pads, helmet and shorts.  Kids are upbeat and can't wait until Friday night.  1st home game is always cause to get up.  Whipping Alcoa is also cause to get up!

I'm sure Alcoa is getting up as well.

    825313364

It doesn't take much to get up for this game. Whipping is a strong word this year, but Maryville should win by a couple. It'll be tigher thru the 1st 3 quarters than we want. Rebels will prevail though.

  15. Believe the year was 1985, Maryville versus Austin East at Maryville.  Last play before the half, AE kicks something like a 40 yard field goal (unheard of back then).  That was the final score, 3-0.  :D  We held Leroy Thompson to something like 18 yards on 11 carries and he was hurt just before the half.  That was the most emotionally draining game I have ever saw.

    825311660

Was that the game where the AE and Maryville coaches got in a fight at the end of the game?

  16. Rebelron is right. I have seen almost every Maryville-Alcoa game since I was in middle school in Maryville in the early eightys. Alcoa always plays emotionally, they always come with their A game, but their never as balanced as The Rebels, always have too many kids playing both ways and if you get on top of them by a large margin, they tend to loose interest, like last year.

That takes nothing away from Alcoa. I grew up a Rebel, so I naturally have a distaste for Alcoa, but I RESPECT them and their game. This game will be as close as they've come in years to beating Maryville, but it won't be ebough.

    Maryville 35 Alcoa 21
