That is so funny!! Hey, that guy wears a helmet to the ballgames, like their gonna call him in to play. I don't think his overalls are standard team issue though. I love this post. Too funny. People can get carried away for sure.

  2. Boss Hogg:

You are incorrect.  Halls Jr. class beat Maryville in a freshman game 2 years ago.  Do you think the Burnette kid from HALLS will get to play for Maryville Prep.  All you Maryville folks don't get to happy because W.B. can tell you what you got coming when Central comes to town.  Halls may have been the last Region team to beat Maryville but Central will be the next.  Maryville will win because Halls is just not very good.  But they better bring more than their J.V. and Freshman because Halls is fighting for their life.

    825321372

I can't wait for Central. If you don't live for those games as a team and a program, you have no business playing ball. That game last year was incredible.

Back to Halls. I don't disagree with you Ron. What I said previously is exactly what you said, I'm just getting to the point more with my projected outcome. We beat Halls Friday, no problem. I'm not overlooking them. Yes, they play Maryville tough. It won't be enough.

What happens if AB goes down or Cade goes down? We're 4 deep at almost every position. That's what happens. Yep, loss of key players can hurt any team. Maryville is deep though boys. Their not gonna lose with any regularity.

If you remember, not long ago, we lost a couple of games and still won a state championship. That was one of the more magical state championship runs.

  3. historically Alcoa just "big plays" Maryville to death in situations where Alcoa has won the game.  For instance, i think in 1998 Alcoa only had 2 or 3 first downs in the entire game, but won the game.  So.....take it for what it's worth, but tonight's game was very similiar to MHS vs AHS in every aspect.  Sometimes Alcoa wins, sometimes Maryville wins.  Who has the overall winning record...that would be something interesting to know.

Maryvile and it ain't even close...

  4. REBELRAIDER or REBELPANSY i did see those things, having fun with the reading comprehension, did you have to do kindergarden twice, how many time have you had to take the ACT to pass the reading part, what part of "maryville is good, really good" dont you understand? i didnt argue that they didnt dominate because they did, fiegler struggled, clement  played great, all these things are true, just as true that youre a babbling idiot, by the way i was best doggeball player ever at marryville intermediate, ask anyone they will tell you

That's funny. I don't care whoy ou are... :justwrestle:

  5. I wish Alcoa all the best for the rest of the season. They played with more heart than any Alcoa team in recent memory.

That said, it was about what I expected. I said Ducky would get 80 yards exactly. I was wrong on his TD total. I had given him one, so I was wrong there.

It was a strange game. Maryville played one half, alcoa played the other. The guys on the radio were right on my way out. Alcoa won the second half, but that and their win in the "who can collect the most cans of food drive" was all they had to take home.

This series is getting lopsided again. Oh, good job collecting cans Alcoa. That's an honorable victory. :justwrestle:

  6. Halls is one of those teams you always hear, "hey, they'll play you tough" about. They always do put up their A game for Maryville and for a short time there, they were one of Maryville's biggest opponents.

I don't wanna sound like I'm dissing them, but this really should be a good tune up for Maryville and that's about it. It's just about as easy as you can get in a warm up for the meat of our schedule.

Hey, beat us Halls fans and I'll eat all the crow you want me to.

  7. Lack of division 1 talent and the fact that we're not one of the biggest schools in the state.  If we were 5A then we would get the attention that Riverdale does.  Atleast thats my theory!?

    825316865

That;s exactly it. Not enough Division 1 prospects. That can be a good thing though. It means we have a bunch of blue collar kids that play as a team and not as individuals. I'll take that any day <_<

Being 5A and beating Riverdale etc, would help too.

  8. All the best to theTornadoes for the rest of the season. Your team played with more class and determination than I've ever seen any Alcoa Team play. Congrats on a quality performance Friday nite.

I told ya'll that Ducky would get 80 yards max. I was wrong by 1 touchdown though. I said he'd get 1.

That said, good luck guys. With the prevailing attitude over there, you'll go far!!

    <_<

  9. Hmmmmm......Why am I feeling "anxious" about this game?!  After Friday's Alcoa game and paying attention to general performance of the Red Rebels (which I thought was pretty good) there seemed to be some minor lack of enthusiasm/determination on the defensive side of the ball.  I noticed some lack of pursuit, as compared to past years, with the DEs.  Maybe it was the high humidity and heat, but it just didn't "feel right".

If that performance remains the same this week......Halls just might surprise us all.

    (Please let me be wrong!)

I'm still picking a Red Rebel win by 10.

I had the same feeling. Nothing felt right about that game. We played well enough to beat a 2A school with a lot of talent. Even though AB scored twice, I didn't feel a real punch from the running game and we relied waaaay to heavily on Andrew.

A lot of that you can chalk up to the aforementioned talent across the field. Alcoa isn't Central, Morristwon West or Even William Blount though. We'll have to play better to win those big games. Bottom line- more consistency from the running game and a second threat at receiver will help a bunch.

I'll take any win over Alcoa! thumb

    Maryville 45

    Halls 17

  10. It would be nice to play some new teams. I've always ben unhappy because we have to play Heritage and Wiiliam Blount. No schedule is gonna be exciting every week, but new challenges would be fun. As emtioned though, we would still play those two if we moved up.

If Maryville stays where we are, I'd like to see us schedule two other 5A teams or maybe 3A like Fulton or AE. Our clashes with AE in the past were stellar. I'm not sure if TSSAA necessitates that we play Heritgae and Willy B (and I'm sure 5A teams look better on the shcedule), but if not, I'd like to see us play others teams.

  11. Ya there are other people on our team....

Do names like Fiegler, Warren, Love, White, Avery, Miller, or Green come to mind? These are all extremely talented and important players that our team has to have performing at each one's best to win the game. Apparently at practice this week, coach has been trying out goin 2 deep instead of our key playesr playin both ways.

    825316045

that's a good idea. Less one dimensional. Regardless of how tonite turns out, both of these teams will be fun to watch all year. And since this game is for bragging rights and doesn't count statisically, both of us will probably go deeeep into the playoffs.

I hope you all have figured David Lipscomb out on tape. They'll be a tough nut.

  12. You think that Alcoa doesn't have pride? You think that we don't body up for the game? I don't know what ya'll are implying. Alcoa is ready for this game. These Juniors have been waiting for this moment since they stepped onto the campus in 2002.  Dustin Lindsey has been somber all day. School has been a joke today, between the mini pep rallies in the halls, and the various roll calls being sung out. I camped out on the field again last night, and while Maryville did get our bridge, they still didn't get our field or the duck pond because I ran 7 people off. Look for a awesome defensive matchup with huge offensive explosions. Alcoa by 3!

    825316007

No implications. Go back and read. We're all giving you all props all the way. Hey, is there ANYONE else on your all's team? The great Duck didn't have too much fun last year man. I mean seriously, all playing aside. I'm interested in the rest of the team. Please tell me more....for my part, I'm saying it will take more than the only player I ever hear about. ;)

  13. REBELRON is a great spokesman for Maryville.  I'll leave it at that.

    825315978

I give ultimate props to RebelRon. He's THE MAN. He is a gentleman and a scholar of the game. I almost always agree with him. I'm sure that would surprise you.

That said, Maryville could handle most teams on a consistent basis. Come on down tonite and see. It's a little different when you graduated from Maryville and played ball there. We all don't hide our pride as well as others.

You have a good one :(

  14. dmoyers, take about 30 minutes and read a few weeks worth of REBELRON's posts about Maryville.  You could learn a lot about humility and class from him.

    825315957

You don't know me, so don't judge me. This strand sat still for 2 hours. I was just getting something started. You wanna talk ball now, or critique me some more?

    :(

  15. Wrong year, you beat us badly 2 years ago.  We had the upperhand this year.  But good luck against Alcoa tonight.

    825315950

I understood the final score to be 21-6. I wasn't there, so I digress. :(

  16. Ya'll come down to Blount Co tonite and let us show you what real football and real football teams are all about. Bring the 5A schools with you and when we're done with Alcoa, we'll start in on them.

Everybody have a good Friday nite!! :(
