  1. Sorry. I missed that post. Thank you for claifying that for me.

Not in Clarksville. Hmmmm. Interesting. I guess computer traces sometimes lie. :thumb:

The point is that a lot of schools see the potential in Lee, as well as with other kids. It's been infered that Lee has only gotten an offer from UT because Daryle is a former player there. My point is that if that is the case, then why are the other programs offering him too? The "daddy" argument just doesn't have any credibility what so ever.

Instead of dogging him, why can't you and your Halls buddies simply allow him the opportunity to either make it or not make it on his own merit? Why all of the jealousy and hard feelings? If you had any class at all you'd simply leave him alone and let him have his shot.

The petty whining about Lee, or any athlete from a school other than the one you support, really does make you look foolish.

While I certainly want my team to win when Halls and Powell play, I don't begrudge the opportunities that guys like Ian O'Connor, Jake Mynatt, ect. from Halls have to go on and play college football and get an education. I am very impressed with Coach Julian and my experience in dealing with him has been very positive. Why can't you just back your own team and quit dogging kids from other high schools? You certainly aren't one to talk about "rose colored glasses".

Well, I think you know where I am on Lee HTV. I want to see him succeed at the next level, only because he's one of OURS. A product of our overall geographical area. The BEST source of football talent in this state, right beside Memphis.

I gotta say though, some of the remarks he made to some of our kids Friday nite leaves no doubt where Lee's mind has been all year. But then again, "Kids say the Darndest Things" :D

Let's see what Lee makes of himself at UT. Then it'll be fair to criticize and complain if it's warranted. I'd rather it turn out good. :o

  2. I think it works differently for Knoxville Raider. You have to live in their zone to go to their school. There's plenty o moving going on in North Knotsvul though. One Powell alum even owns his own moving company :thumb:

Everyone misunderstood me in my first post. Probably just like GQ was misunderstood friday nite. Central would crush Fulton, Alcoa and AE. I was speaking ofd their championship excellence only.

Here's a lil somethin for everyone. Still tweakin it a lil bit...

    Central @ Maryville Scouting

  3. Okay-enough. Reb Nation, we're buddies, but to think that Central is not an elite 4A school is not right. I'll give Maryville all the props in the world. They have been the best 4a school in the state over the last several years. NO doubt!! Keep in mind that Central did play for a state title a few years ago. But to say that Central is not in the class of schools you mentioned is nuts. Please, the Cats couldn't play with Huntingdon, AE, Fulton or Alcoa? Those schools have recently played in or won a title in their division. They are good programs with lots of success. You don't think that Central could beat any of those? Come on. Central, as is Maryville, MoWest, Hillsboro, Melrose, Memphis East and JCM at the top of the food chain in 4A. Check the records. You could drop any of those schools in any 5A region and they are all regular playoff teams.

I will agree that Central needs to win some to make this rivalry closer.

FBE, as far as the scores of the regular season games vs the playoff games, it is usually the playoff games that have the closer scores. Most of the games in the playoffs have been very close, while there have been a couple of lopsided regular season games. Last year was a prime example, with Maryville winning easily in the regular season, and the playoff game going down to the last minute. Also, you keep saying that Central plays a bunch of kids both ways. Just to let you know, that statement needs some clarification. The kids on the O line, just play on the O line. The only time that Crowder or Gaddis play on the D line is when they want to get bigger in short yardage situations. Crowder may play 4-5 snaps on D. Dyer plays at FB and DE but not to the point that he doesn't come out of the game. Central has many offensive sets and there are many series when he is not in. They also rotate him in and out on D. The same thing applies to Nance. Adkins, Cruze, Helton, Waddell and Gaston rotate around as Dbacks or safties. They all get breaks. Central is very deep at reciever, so they have even more players at that position to share the load.

This is going to be a heck of game Friday nite.

Also, congrats to Lonas Seiber on his scholly to UT.

You know I respect the cats med and I am proud to say your my boy. He just got me on a tangent. And where did I say Central couldn't "play" with most of those teams? Alcoa and teams of that size don't have the depth to go with a team like Central. You missed my point. I was talkin about championship excelllence. You're lacking hardware and you know it. That's a hard, cold fact.

Let me reprofess my profound respect for Central. Some W's in that series would help though, and we agree there. That was my main point. Guess I coulda just said that... :thumb:

My problem is I have an opinion and I'm not afraid to WHIP IT OUT!! HAHA :(

  4. I heard the interview. In talking of the last game he mentioned how well the defense played and basically said if we don't turn the ball over they possibly don't score on us. He made absolutely no predictions about the upcoming game.

It depends on what color glasses you were hearing it thru...

That's not what I heard, but I guess it could be interpretted that way.

I certainly don't think he meant any disrespect or harm, but even if he did (which he didn't) so what? The rule is bring it or stay at home. These two teams don't need any help getting up for this game and everyone knows that.

FBE, no one does the defensive stats but the coaching staff. I get the offensive stats from an outside source. Coach and I are gonna sit down after the season to chat and that's one thing I'm gonna ask him for.

Feel free to email me or even pm me with your constructive criticisms as I appreciate them. Doing it here though is a lil weird and probably not fair to CoachT and probaly boring to some folks not associated.

  5. Here's some respect judge....

Central has one of the elite programs in East TN. Central fans are second to none in their support of their team. Central has a long standing football tradition and a tradition of football excellence. Central has one of the winningest football coaches in TN and one of the winningest football families in this state in the Helton's. Central plays hard, gives 110%, plays to their talents and is not afraid to adapt their game to the situation weekly, monthly or yearly. Central is a finesse team with surprising power. Central has the best QB in 4A football in the eastern half of this state. Central has one of the best runningbacks in the state. Central has one of the best if not the best linebacking corps in the state. Central has reliable academics and a caring staff. Centrals weight program is on par with it's compettitors. There's nothing most competitors dread more than going to Helton Field to play the cats on a Friday nite. OK?

Now stop your whining!!! Lil ole woman...

  6. Offensive POW is easier. The kids that score and cause scores are gonna be on the list...simple. Defense is more difficult. I gotta write names down that make big plays as we go. Your welcome to email me or post me some names for consideration. I welcome help. ;) No intentional slight at all. Also, the junior he shares time with has won the Def POW like 5 times. That hasn't helped.

I was thinking to myself Friday nite that I'm getting in a rut of the same 5 to 10 names on defense, BUT those 5 to 10 names make the most plays. I though Brinkman was a nice addition to that list. Bowman actually won the offensive POW last week.

I will watch John Friday nite...

  7. I was just wondering why you thought coach Helton was worth 7 points. You wrote it so I'd just like to hear what you've got to say. In depth. Seems to me Central plays Maryville better than ANY other team in the state. Have you been attending these games for the last 6 or 7 years ? As I recall there have been only two that were not close and neither of them were play-off games. Playing at Maryville is great and we feel at home there. Check your history and you'll see how many times we've played there since 1996. Back to the original point. I really want you to go in depht about your statement on coach Helton.

Look at the overall record cat. This isn't a rivalry no matter how bad y'all want it to be until you put more W's up in your column. Talk all you want about "playing MHS best or close". What does it matter when your record against MHS is 12-4?

Alcoa has a better winning percentage against the Rebels!! That's a school with less than 400 kids cat. Heck, Austin East has a WINNING record vs. MHS and their a 3A school!!

Yep, these are always great games, no doubt. If that's your point, I agree. But don't try to say your on MHS's level or you play at MHS's level, because YOU DO NOT. Here's a quick list of schools that DO play at the Rebel's level: Alcoa, Riverdale, MBA, Oak Ridge, Huntingdon, Fulton (until this year).

Also, if you WERE to win Friday, you STILL have a long way to go to start talkin "at our level". That bobcat hair koolaid is starting to get to you....

  8. yeah I changed it.

couple more ours before game time. :thumb:

16 is guarenteed one play tonight. B)

16, it had better be a tackle and a good one :D

Ben, you have no clue. Cody Watts has more moves than a spanish flaminco dancer. The kid has skills.

osunut2, the stats do not bear your premise at all. Cody has been counted on to do it all this year....again.

HTV, Cody won our inagural ET Preps Player of the Week award last week....

  9. 1964 Optimist Bowl

    MHS 7

    Young 28

It's the only loss Maryville had in that championship season. THe bowl was actually "thrown together" at the last minute, after both teams had turned in their equipment for the season...almost 1 full month after the season!!

A loss is a loss, in case anyone thinks I'm making excuses :thumb:

  10. No, that's not him. Steve was this guys name. I lost contact many years ago. Can't even remember his last name! :thumb:

Steve McBrair? Has a brother named Brett McBrair that played at UT? If so, I know their family well, though I don't know Steve as well.

MHS fans have a healthy respect for Melrose. They have one great football team. That's the hardest hitting special teams unit I've ever seen. They just fly to the ball and don't care about the consequences.

One of their down linemen (center I believe) played the whole ballgame with a bad ankle. I mean bad too...he couldn't run at all because of it.

  11. I find it quite interesting that Maryville fans are posting on this thread. Are you all that certain of playing Melrose in the finals? In addition, since you're on here, I do not mean any harm to your team when I say that you were not all that quick or fast, as compared to Melrose. It is actually a compliment to you for beating them when they were that much quicker and faster. I do think that HC is both quicker and faster than your team last year. They do not, however, have your great tradition.

Wasn't taken that way...just debating with you....

Nothing is for certain...even in life.

  12. Any complement going Alcoa's way would be your territory. They are, from your posts, your second love? But they aren't disciplined, so well coached or at Maryville's level in the kicking game, defensive schemes or balance on offense. But then, who is? Right? What they are is the best small classification team this state has ever seen.

Now, go insult someone else. And quit sending daily pm's to me. I can't decide which is more funny. Your kissing up or all the nasty names you call me. sad Also, would you consider changing your name again? When anyone looks over any sites mentioned on their messages (such as knoxpreps) your name is all the way up & down the message board. Gets old, ya know?

hahahahahahahaha...ok twee, I'm done. Don't want you to cry. Besides, your witty comebacks are too much for me.

    Set em straight sweetreb! :thumb:

  13. Why is it that when I respond to ANYONE from Melrose and include a reference to Maryville, there is NEVER an answer? If this game of football is ALL about speed and quickness, why can't Melrose beat Maryville...who is not all that fast and quick? My point being that HC is faster AND quicker than Maryville, so this is fixing to be a game my friends from the Mound. (As you all know, I DO believe that speed kills...but it didn't kill Maryville)! Did Cooper not play against Maryville last year?

    That's an assumption as well...
